Even though Issei wasn't a good student before and didn't really get into the essence of the lessons, not even listening, it was especially evident today. He had been flying around all day, looking out the window and showing that he wasn't listening. And how could he study calmly after he learnt about the other side of their world. Magic, Angels, Fallen, Demons - it was all real!
And the fact that he is also involved in this world doesn't make him happy at all. He's a demon now, too! And he also has some kind of Sacred Mechanism that only humans get. So suddenly, overnight, he's been transformed into a demon. What's gonna happen to him now? How will he look at all the turmoil around him? How will he communicate with his parents? Even though the President said that everything was fine and he wouldn't feel any changes, except for his body, but still....
And he had to deal with the fact that someone was constantly interfering with his thoughts. During the conversation with the President, he wanted to bow, or start kissing feet, or other humiliations that Issei would gladly do just to touch his Mistress's body. Then he wanted just as much to tear her apart, to eat her, because this demon child didn't know his place!
And that frightened Issei. Given the existence of magic, one could assume that mental magic was used on him, if it existed. And these abrupt changes during the conversation were the work of an unknown Sacred Mechanism, which, as it turns out, has been living in Hyodo since childhood, only it needed time to strengthen in the host's soul.
Or perhaps it's just Issei's paranoia playing out. And she'll certainly be playing with new colours, because now there's magic! What can it do?! Why was he saved?! What's the Sacred Mechanism for?! Issei knows that, so that humans can protect themselves from other races, the President said so. But then why did she turn into a demon? So many questions and not a single answer.....
Issei didn't even go to the last gym class, even though he never missed it, because he could peek at the girls. That's how crazy the universe has gone! That's not cool! This is not the way to do it! There had to be some pervert with the instincts of an ape in the world, and Issei....
He was supposed to fight evil, not join it.
Issei was now walking through the main part of Kuo Park, where very near this night he had died...
It's an unusual sensation to walk where you died and remember everything in great detail. How you bled and pressed your palm against the warm wound. How the coldness scrubbed at the tips of your body and then began to spread throughout your entire body. And then darkness and...nothing.
Absolute emptiness. No oblivion there, as they describe it in the books with hitmen and novels. No ray of light to illuminate everything. Really, it's a bit rubbish. Who came up with that? And who writes like that? (The author?).
Issei took a deep breath and adjusted the bag of textbooks on his shoulder. He definitely needed a moral rest. Otherwise, he'd probably go crazy soon....
Issei closed his eyes briefly. He suddenly felt kind of disgusted to be out in the sun....
And he hadn't asked about what demons could do...
Before he could yawn, Issei felt someone knock him down, causing him to fall on his heel.
Issei looked up and saw a mop of blonde hair. A girl was sitting in front of him, rubbing the top of her head and revealing her snow-white panties to Hyodo....
Issei immediately blushed and looked away. It only took Hyodo a few seconds to come to his senses, though everything inside was burning to take another look at the girl's panties. This had never happened before...
- Excuse me, are you hurt? - Issei asked politely, starting to pick up the girl's things that had fallen out of her suitcase.
- N-No, you're the one I'm sorry,' the girl, dressed in a blue and white long nun's dress with a small brown bag on her belt, mumbled shyly. Issei felt everything inside him shrink in disgust at the sight of the bag. Another effect after being reborn?
The girl had bright green eyes and a cute face. She was afraid to look up at Issei and continued to gather her things.
Issei picked up a few of her personal belongings and handed them to the girl, who was slightly taken aback by such a thing. She didn't expect to be helped.
- What is it? - Issei asked worriedly, seeing the girl's reaction.
- Huh?' she realised that she had been staring at the guy all this time, 'N-Nothing, thank you.
- You're welcome,' Issei rubbed his hair, wondering what kind of cutie had bumped into him.
- Ahhhh, I...,' the girl hesitated, it had been a while since she'd been introduced, probably since she'd been kicked out of. - Asia. Asia Argento. Nice to meet you,' she bowed to the guy.
It was only now that the guy noticed she wasn't speaking to him in Japanese. But the sounds from his mouth give away the right language she's speaking.
Another unique ability of demons?
- Issei. Hyodo Issei,' the guy introduced himself, 'You're not from around here, are you?
- No,' The girl seems to be more open after being accepted easily. Though maybe he doesn't know... -I'm from Italy. I came here on an assignment for the Church.
- Oh-oh, that's great,' Issei nodded, his assumptions fulfilled, 'So, how's it going in Italy? - Issei asked a silly question.
- Ah, well, it's good there, yes, - Asiya hesitated, - It's very warm and the sun is bright there. And everything there is so beautiful! And...and,' Asia began to quiet down, remembering her exile.
She is here to fulfil the last task of the real True God, and then....
- Asia? - Issei asked, seeing the girl's distress.
- No, it's fine,' Asiyah smiled forcefully, 'I'd like to see the city before I go to the Church. Will you give me a tour?
- Y-yes, of course,' replied an overjoyed Issei. He wanted to wrap such a cute girl in a plaid and not let her go anywhere, but....
That's not going to happen...
Issei showed the girl the humble sights of their town. Taking her to the fountain in the middle of the park, taking her to the mall and many other places. They were just having fun, talking about nothing at all. The two of them didn't notice how much they were talking and walking around Kuo looking for the next place to visit.
Asia couldn't remember the last time she had walked like this. Oh right, that hadn't happened...
Never...
Ever since she was a child, she had been raised to serve the Church. Her parents had also worked for the Church, but had died while on assignment. That's what she was told. And then she awakened the Sacred Mechanism, Twilight Healing. And then her value to the Church immediately increased. She healed all kinds of wounds while developing her Sacred Mechanism in practice.
She was nicknamed the Holy Virgin for her sincere kindness and generosity. She was praised, exalted as an Angel and prayed for. But all this ceased...
On the threshold of the Church she saw a wounded demon. He had black leather wings behind his back, and he himself was begging the girl for help. Asia could not refuse the needy help, for which she paid....
People in the Church naively believed that her Sacred Mechanism could only heal humans and Saints, but it turned out that her Power could heal evil races. Since then, she has become noticeably colder to her, she is no longer called the Holy Maiden, and her friends and acquaintances have turned their backs on her....
As much as she was hurt, ashamed of herself, she did not wish those people in the Church harm. She forgave the rude treatment of herself, she forgave all the insults, she forgave even the fact that she was now a witch.....
But an unexpected question is raised? Why then, when the Church was in flames and she heard the screams of horror and pain, did she enjoy it? She liked to hear those who abused her pleading for help. She liked to hear them screaming over the corpses of their comrades....
She liked it all, but even so...
She continued to pray to God for her dirty thoughts, trying not to listen to the poisonous voice of reason, but...
- You're serving the wrong faith...
That day changed her completely...
It was on that day that the small and naive girl Asiya died.....
Though she remained kind and generous to others, she was no longer naive enough to run to the first person she met for help. Training with the fallen had hardened her spirit, strengthened her body and taught her many other things.
She is no longer a helpless girl with a Sacred Mechanism, acting in battle only as a healer behind the backs of those fighting. Now she's a pretty strong mage who can fight back against the Eight-Winged Supreme.
Now she would do anything for her God! For the True God, who is real, but remains in the shadows, unwilling to show his existence and power to everyone. Everyone will ridicule him if he claims to be the True God of the Universe, whose rightful place has been taken away by the fakes who now call themselves Gods....
Asia and Issem sat down on a bench in Kuo Park. They had already made their way around everything Hyodo wanted to show them, and were back at the original place where they had met.
- Can you believe it!!! As it was, the protagonist picked up a gun and with a pathos face said: 'You lowlifes are not worthy of life!' - portrayed the film character Issei Ashii.
- Wow,' Asiye marvelled, 'And then?
- Then he just slaughtered everyone and met up with his beloved, who had been captured. That's it,' the guy leaned back on the back of the bench.
- Wow, from what you've told me, the film is really cool.
- Maybe we should go see it together sometime,' Issei smiled, not thinking he'd said it out loud.
Asiye didn't look happy about it, but looked down at her sandals. Issei remembered what he had said and blushed and turned to the girl to justify himself, but....
Asiye looked downcast....
- Asii...
- I'm sorry Issei, but it seems...there won't be a next time,' Asiye Issei gave him a bright but fake smile. The guy couldn't parse emotions, so he didn't quite understand the girl.
- Why er...
But he was interrupted by an incredible sense of danger from behind. Before he could even turn around, something sharp and burning stabbed into him. And that something was already much more painful than the last time he had died in the park.
Issei was thrown a few metres away from the bench, but he found the strength to turn his head towards the bench.
There stood an incredibly beautiful girl with an imposing form and wide hips. She was wearing a revealing outfit that covered only the most erotic parts of her beautiful body. Issei recognised her...
- Yuma,' Issei hissed, holding back all of himself from pouncing on her, but he couldn't anyway....
- 'What a pity, boy,' the fallen woman smiled wryly, 'You've been reborn as a demon. It's just as he said it would be....
- Asia...where's Asia, you bitch?! - Issei hadn't expected such rage in his chest from himself. It's his! His female has been taken from him!
- Wow, you've really got the claws to sass me?! - Reynal grinned again, and it was her, 'I need that girl to take the Sacred Mechanism. You know what happens to those who have this artefact taken from them, don't you? Lucifer's sister initiated you into this?
Issei paid no attention to Yuma's last words. Realisation hit Hyodo's head. Though he hadn't been told, his whole gut was telling him that....
- I see you understand, boy,' Reynal licked her lips, 'Well, today was the first and last day you two spoke. How ironic,' the fallen woman laughed as Issei glared angrily at her.
He clenched his fists so hard that his knuckles crunched. Clenched his teeth so hard that they might break at any moment. Somewhere deep in Issei's eyes burned crazy green lights of animal rage that the guy was ready to let loose...
You are weak...
You desire the Force...
But you can't just get it....
You're just a pathetic little boy.
You're weak.
You're nothing...
Issei took a step, watching as Reynal had already stopped laughing....
Let it out...
Let your anger out...
Issei unconsciously stretched his left hand forward...
- 'Asiya... Asiya... Asiya,' Issei whispered to himself as he stared madly at the fallen woman who was calmly watching.
Awaken It...
Release It...
Fight...
Survive or die in this game of madness....
- AMAZING!!!' a voice in a red, massive glove that appeared on Issei's hand prophesied.
The guy immediately felt a surge of strength and was about to lunge at the fallen woman, but...
He fell to his knees again...
His arms and legs trembled, as if he had no control over his body....
- You managed to awaken after all,' Reynal said thoughtfully and contentedly, 'Awakening the Sacred Mechanism takes a lot of energy, so there's nothing you can do....
Issei wanted to cry from the pain in his chest and his own muscles. He would just let her go like that. No!
No...
- Rest,' Reynal said, and Issei closed his eyes against his will.
Already falling into the abyss, he saw a silhouette....
He had dreamt of him once. Yes, he remembered him...
Dragon...
- Hello, partner....
***
Some time before the main events. Coalition members' house.
Rei sat quietly with his arms folded across his chest. He had made himself comfortable in one of the chairs in the living room, which was also the meeting room in some cases. True, those few occasions hadn't happened yet, but they would soon....
The vast living room contained a small round table, around which soft red armchairs were arranged in a chaotic order not far from each other. There was an oddly patterned rug on the floor, and the beige wallpaper without pictures didn't exactly please Ray's eye. Though he wasn't a connoisseur, it was rather boring to just sit and stare at nothing.
To Rey's right, sitting behind him, sat the temporary member of their house, Darion. A nice looking boy of about sixteen years of age sat with his eyes closed. His greasy and long black hair covered part of his black eyes and his thin lips were tightly pressed together. Though you can't see it because of his long hair, but his face is quite attractive but unknowingly hides it.
He was wearing a black t-shirt over which a Coalition military uniform with gold buttons and epaulettes was slung over his shoulders. His trousers were homemade and slightly baggy, barely reaching his calves. On his feet were some dirty sandals that were clearly taken from...there.....
To Rey's left was another young man with a handsome face and thick inhuman dark grey hair - Ritwing. His brown eyes stared at the ceiling with universal boredom. He was dressed in a simple white shirt, and that, he had been forced to wear. Black trousers and the same colour shoes. He occasionally glanced at Darion with slight anger. Why wasn't he forced to dress more decently? Though he knew the reason, he didn't want to accept it.
There was plenty of lighting in the room, but Tekera still sat in one of the room's shadows. Rei, on the other hand, listened to the sounds behind the house with a smile.
A small crowd of girls had gathered there, and yes there were boys there as well. Rei and Elias didn't come today - that wouldn't do! So there they came to the house that Hayato had named back during his introduction.
Rei realised that sooner or later it would happen, that's why he didn't go to school today, to better prepare himself.
- The head?!
- The head of the student council is here?!
- Sona-sempai?! She's here to check on Ray?
- Oh, and the vice president is here...
Rei smiled.
- Well, friends. Looks like we'll be the ones deciding the fate of many demons and humans today,' Rei grinned, adopting a more relaxed pose.
- Yeah,' Rithwing replied languidly, staring at the ceiling.
Darion didn't say anything, still in the same pose. But Rei saw him holding a small balalaika, the strings of which he was gently fiddling with.
Rei used telepathy to open the door to the guests, but did not get up from his chair. Sona Sitri and her loyal Queen Tsubaki Shinra entered the living room. They were dressed in their Academy uniforms. Sona, on the other hand, faintly twitched an eyebrow, which Rei noticed. The girl must have been upset that she wasn't welcomed in with bows....
- Have a seat,' Rei politely pointed to the empty chairs in front of him, but did not get up.
Sona didn't react outwardly, but inwardly she wanted to show the man his pitiful place.
- I'm listening to you. Why did you come to my house? - Rei asked, getting straight to the point.
- You didn't come to school,' Sona said, looking only into Rei's eyes, 'I came to see if you were all right.
- Elias is sick, he didn't have time to recover over the weekend. We'll be here tomorrow,' Rei replied, crossing his legs.
- You couldn't come alone? - Sitri arched an eyebrow, 'From what I can see, you're healthy.
- Yes,' Rei nodded, "Uncle Elias" doctors couldn't make it, so I'm taking care of him.
- What a loyal companion you are,' Sona said as she continued to ignore the other creatures in the room, 'Now that you're well, I'd like to talk to you about more important things.
It was only now that Rei noticed the cold Queen Sitri trying to scan him as she took a seat in the next chair from her Mistress. Except Rei was a skilled wizard and an excellent sensor, so he noticed even the most subtle manipulation of energy.
- Thank you, I also have something to discuss with you,' Rei bent slightly, smiling politely but somehow cheekily.
Sona's face didn't change in the slightest.
- Before we get started,' Rei said clearly, "To my left," Hayato pointed to the guy with the balalaika, 'sits the right hand of Robert Lakion, one of the Seven Pillars-Order of the Coalition. So every word you say will reach the Supreme, the head of all the Pillars-Order of the Coalition. I hope you understand,' Rei finished with a smile, looking into the surprised faces of the demons.
Sona herself would report the results of the negotiations to her sister, if the humans could tell them anything interesting. But now the circumstances were different. And she had thought that these were the same mages from the Coalition as Rei.....
Tsubaki, on the other hand, continued to sizzle with her multi-coloured eyes at the young men, who appeared to be high ups, if we say 'their' slang. Shinra continued to scrutinise the bodies of the negotiators with her glasses that House Sitri had provided her. 'Nothing so far...
- 'I understand,' Sona nodded, hesitating to reply, 'In turn, my sister Serafall Leviathan will know the outcome of our negotiations.
- Of course,' Rei already knew that, 'I think the most important news we should discuss is the werewolf activity.
- Yes,' she kept marvelling at the availability of the Coalition consul's information. It seems the Coalition really is powerful,' I've tapped into my connections. Rias is involved. All we've been able to determine is that werewolves are arriving in Japan in large numbers. We've found no reason or any connection between the shape-shifters and the human country.
- But the Coalition knows why they're here,' Rei hid a satisfied smile, 'But there's a price to pay for any information....
- I thought we were having open negotiations,' Sona pressed her lips together unhappily, flipping her left leg over the other.
- We are,' Rei nodded, 'So let's make a little deal, shall we? - You answer my question, and I'll tell you the reason for the werewolves' immigration to Japan.
Sona crossed her arms and tapped the index finger of her right hand on her elbow. She would answer his question, and he would tell her about his sister's biggest, by far, secret. Just to answer the question...
- As long as it doesn't involve the interests of Hell and my House,' Sona replied firmly, after a few moments of waiting.
Rei hid a satisfied smile again. His comrades, on the other hand, didn't react to the conversation, and pretended they weren't here at all. Sona's wording is rather crude, so it's worth it for Rei to ask the right question and you can...find out a lot, but....
- Sure,' Rei smiled slightly, 'It's about your friend Rias Gremory.
- What?' Sona was a little taken aback, which amused Rei a little, 'Why?
- I was just curious to hear your opinion,' Rei grinned, 'Do you think Rias will beat Reiser?
Sona rounded her eyes. That's it? That's all he wanted to hear, would she beat Reiser?
- Honestly, no, but Rias fervently believes she can find a servant who can help her.
Sona no longer shows surprise that Rei knows about her engagement. It's not like it's classified information after all. Contacting the right beings isn't even necessary. Ask any Demon, you have the information at your fingertips.
- And that's why she's so hopeful about her new servant, the Vallian Dragon bearer, that she jumped into bed with him,' Rei grinned, looking only into Sona's unperturbed face, 'I have to admit, it's a good approach for an inveterate pervert.
- And now that the Coalition knows about it, what will they do about it? - Sona asked bluntly, seeing no point in hiding.
- He's under the House of Gremory now, so we won't be able to take any countermeasures against him, but if... - Rei's voice became serious, -He dares to go against us, nothing will save Lucifer's sister from the strongest Pillar-Order of the Coalition, and you probably know how he feels about those who dare to touch him....
Oh, yes, Sona does. A Demon once took advantage of the confusion in Europe and reincarnated a man as his servant. It later turned out to be Robert Lakion's subordinate....
Since then, no one has ever heard of that Demon that dared to so brazenly take away the subordinate of this... Is he even a man?
Single-handedly defeating an army of thousands using only his artefact axe and magic. He dealt with them so quickly that Hell's external services couldn't even react to such an open attack.
- I understand. I'll tell Rias that directly,' Sona replied calmly, glancing briefly at her Queen, 'But I'm more interested in why you asked about Reiser.
- Not interested in werewolves anymore? - Reyas grinned, looking at Sona with his bright blue eyes, 'But I'll answer. I want to help. Or rather, we want to help. Together with Elias.
- But...why? - Sona was genuinely surprised, ignoring the same surprise on her Queen's part.
- We need to strengthen our relationship with Hell,' Rei waved his hands, 'Helping Lucifer's sister will have a great effect on our relationship with you. I don't know how much of an effect it will have on Lucifer's relationship with us....
- What are you talking about? - Sona heard the last phrase.
- I was just thinking out loud,' Rei said, his face unchanged.
Sona frowned faintly. She made a mental note in her head to find out more about this. How would she find out? Question...
- What about the werewolves,' Rei announced after a brief silence, 'As I said before, we need to strengthen our relationship with you. So do you, but you've already given me a little trust by telling me what you really think of Rias's engagement.
- I was only answering your question. I haven't, as you put it, placed my trust in you yet. But our side is also looking for ways to strengthen our relationship,' Sona said nonchalantly, folding her hands in her lap.
- You're wrong about that,' Rei smiled, "All I have to do is repeat what you said to Rias and that's it," Hayato said, 'You know your friend, and you know she'll accuse you of betrayal or something. She's so...free-spirited. Yeah,' Rei said with a hint of irony.
Sona's eyes widened with shock. Now she realised the informational value of Rei's first question. And now he had leverage over her....
- So, as a gesture of goodwill, I'll give you the news as well,' Rei adopted a serious expression, something you don't see very often, 'The criminal who escaped from the Coalition is a Lycan experiment. He carries the blood of a werewolf and a human...
The room became so quiet that the pounding of hearts could be heard. Sona stared disconsolately at Rey, hoping to hear that this was all a stupid joke. But no...
- Oh, Lucifer,' Sona rubbed the bridge of her nose, taking off her glasses, "How far you humans have come in your...experiments," Sona decided not to be rude.
- That's right,' Rei sighed, leaning back in his chair, 'They're looking for him. It's important to us, and to you, that they don't find him.
- Us? The demons? I don't think that carries any weight with us. For you, yes. For us, no,' Sona cut her off.
- No, no, it's important to us,' Rei reiterated, 'Even though the werewolf race is weak, they will do anything to destroy the last bearer of the Werewolf Progenitor's blood. Or others will do anything to take him away. You should know that the werewolf society is divided....
Sona understands that very well. She knows a lot about the races of the magical world from books. About werewolves, she remembers that they used to transform people into their own kind with a simple bite. But that could only be done by the High, the Aristocracy. Those who carried the blood of the descendants of the Werewolf Progenitor. But over time, the blood became, shall we say, dirtier because there were not so many descendants and it was sometimes impossible to marry them.
Now the descendants of the Progenitor are still alive, but they can no longer reincarnate people into their own kind. They have no control over their gift from the First Werewolf, and so every time they bite a human, he dies in terrible agony because of the unimaginable amount of other Power in him. It was for this reason that Lycans - half-breeds - were almost non-existent.
Their value was that they were many times stronger than any magical creature in this world. Even with the Dragon, they could match the Dragon in raw Force. Lycans were respected, Lycans were feared. Over time, Lycans began to die. Because they were 'half-bloods,' they didn't live for tens of thousands of years like other werewolves.
And then recently, about eighty years ago, the last Lycan died of old age....
The werewolves had begun to lose their position on the frontline with the Vampires, with whom they had been at war for millennia. Their position on the world stage plummeted. Allies, partners turned away. Basically, things have been bad since the Lycans died.
And they'll do anything to take Lycan alive--
Or they'll do anything to kill him.
As soon as Sona realised this, she said:
- I agree, I admit I was wrong,' Sona lowered her head slightly, 'We need to stop him immediately. And preferably put him in...you have a holding cell, right?
- We do,' Rei nodded, 'We'll do that. What's up? Do we have a deal? For now, for now, a temporary alliance,' Rei held out his hand, standing up from the couch for the first time during their meeting.
- Yes,' Sona stood up, followed by Tsubaki. The rest of Rei's aides remained in the same postures, 'Let's find the criminal together...
Rei, looking after Demon, waited for them to leave. The door closed.
Rey sank down on the couch. He listened.
The footsteps began to fade.
The hum of the small crowd of students abruptly disappeared....
Ray hears the footsteps. Hears them moving away from the house...
The sounds of other people from the neighbouring houses can't be heard either. Nor can Rei feel them...
Hayato frowns. If he hears anything, it's only very muffled. A sound barrier?
Rei frowns harder...
- Something's not right here,' Rei muttered thoughtfully, standing up from his chair. His two guests of the day now turn their gaze to him.
Rei walks over to the wall that faces the main street. Nothing again.
- Strange,' Rei mutters to himself again, already starting to walk around the room.
- What's wrong? Isn't everything just like you said it would be? - Stepped out of the shadows of Rei Taker's chair, dressed in her brown uniform.
- Too open. Too direct. Too stupid and risky,' Rey muttered to himself, biting his finger, not paying attention to Thackeray.
Everyone else in the room took on confused expressions on their faces. This was probably only the second time in their lives they'd ever seen their young commander like this....
- Wait,' Rei said either to himself or to the air, 'Sona might really be set on improving relations, but then why? Why did they take all the people away now? Think, think...think....
- 'Rei,' said a familiar voice in my head, 'Sona is standing still. Right in the centre of the street.
- Standing still? - 'She's suicidal, isn't she?! A demoness who thinks she's immortal? What are you doing, Sona? What are you... - Rei started to say with a hint of madness, but he was interrupted.
- Rei,' came the familiar but concerned voice again, 'Sitri's gone...
Rei almost cringed at the news....
- What? Are you sure about this, Elias? - Rei asked.
- 'Absolutely,' Elias replied equally discouraged, 'Except...no demons in sight, Rei...'
Hayato stared at the floor with wide-open eyes only. Everyone looked at their commander with similarly surprised looks, and Elias was content with the oppressive silence. Suddenly, Rei hit the wall, causing it to crack.
- Sona wasn't lying, she really wanted this. She really wanted an alliance, but a temporary one, because at any moment she could tell her sister about the breakdown in negotiations. Robert is ready to fight back...but then wha.....
An epiphany comes to Ray's mind as suddenly as a summons to the army....
Ray's subordinates unknowingly, terrified, take a step back from their commander. Even the imperturbable and lazy Darion recoiled with an astonished expression.
A mad grin crossed Rei's face, and his bright blue eyes began to anticipate the madness that Hayato's brilliant head had conjured up....
Rei shuddered. He ran his hand over his face and the mad expression was replaced by a calm one with a slight smile. That's how easy it is to change masks...
The others faintly exhaled.
Silence. Everyone looked at the pensive Rei.
- Is the plan the same? Or are there changes? - Rietwing asked the question on everyone's mind in the room.
- There are changes,' Rey answered quickly, 'Elias, did you find the Sitri demons?
- 'Yes, but they left right after Sona,' Elias replied as he continued to monitor the situation around the house.
- Well,' Rei said, smiling, which again caused a slight surprise among the others, 'Looks like we're going to get to the main task much sooner than we thought....
- What?!' Rietwing blurted out, 'How are we going to do that? What do Sitri demons have to do with this? We thought the werewolves were going to come and turn them on us, and what...I don't fucking get it...?
- The werewolves are already in town,' Elias announced to everyone in the room, standing right behind Ray. No one showed surprise at Monoke's sudden appearance in the room, 'I don't think they're coming here on purpose.
- How long? - Rei asked, already knowing the approximate answer.
- In about twenty minutes,' Elias put his huge rifle on his shoulder.
- Good,' Rey smiled again, 'From the beginning, the Demons wanted to play very risky. But we can do that too, can't we? - Rei grinned.
Everyone in the room smiled slightly.
- I thought they already knew about our 'criminal', so they'd just sic the werewolves on us. But I guess there's a reason we have counter-intelligence in the Coalition,' Rei grinned, causing Darion to frown, 'I'm kidding, I'm kidding. So... Now things have changed. I thought the magical creatures were active because of Sitri and Gremori, but judging by Sona's reaction, no. They have a different agenda. A different means. A different way to achieve...
Everyone holds their breath.
- Their goal is to destroy all the Churches near Tokyo,' Rei announced.
Darion involuntarily twitched the string of his balalaika, which gave off a small sound wave. Rithwing, on the other hand, coughed awkwardly, and Tekera only frowned harder. Elias, on the other hand, was...bored.
- The Coalition will not interfere,' came an ear-pleasing voice from Darion.
- No,' Rei nodded, 'But we will.
Everyone's ears perked up again.
- It's a great opportunity to play a few cards,' Hayato said aloud, "The demons don't know that this "criminal' has been sitting right in front of them the whole time we've been negotiating,' Rei grinned, glancing at Rietwing.
He smiled contentedly, revealing some of his pointy, inhuman teeth.
- And that also means,' Rei paused, 'We've got a great opportunity to get the Vritra Shard....
