Chapter 24 - Are You Testing Cadres with This?
Chapter 24: Are You Testing Cadres with This?
Qin Xuan was being truthful. In the show, social interactions were mere pretenses, as they involved interacting with AI, which didn’t burden him emotionally. However, he disliked such situations in real life.
“Thank you for understanding, Teacher Qin!” Xiao Li expressed her gratitude.
Qin Xuan didn’t appreciate these social obligations, and he couldn’t comprehend why people insisted on drinking instead of straightforward communication.
This time, the boss had assigned her a task to get along with Qin Xuan at any cost.
Seeing Qin Xuan’s current demeanor, it appeared manageable.
“Thanks for what? Don’t you understand the etiquette?” Mr. Huang was a bit irked.
Xiao Li seemed quite immature to him! Qin Xuan was getting annoyed!
“Teacher Qin, my subordinate, lacks manners, is new here, and is somewhat inconsiderate in her speech. Please, Mr. Qin, don’t take offense.
How about this, I’ll penalize myself with three glasses of wine!” Mr. Huang chuckled and quickly started pouring himself drinks.
“Mr. Huang, you’ve misunderstood. I’m not upset. To be honest, I quite appreciate Xiao Li’s performance!” Qin Xuan spoke sincerely.
Xiao Li’s performance reminded him of his early days in the workplace, and in a way, it felt very familiar. But Mr. Huang was different. He seemed highly experienced and proficient in social skills. When he heard Qin Xuan’s words, Mr. Huang understood.
Qin Xuan had taken an interest in Xiao Li. This was good, as that was the purpose of Mr. Huang bringing Xiao Li along in the first place.
“Teacher Qin, you’re indeed forthright. Xiao Li is a highly talented graduate from a foreign language university, and her proficiency in foreign languages is unquestionable.”
“If you’re interested, we can all learn a foreign language together. Director Qi and I have discussed it, and today, you have no other commitments!” Mr. Huang hinted.
Recently, he had closely examined Qin Xuan’s work, even delving into the idea of learning foreign languages. This Qin Xuan was a genius to come up with such an idea.
Qin Xuan felt a bit awkward. He genuinely appreciated Xiao Li’s talents and had no hidden motives.
“Mr. Huang, please don’t misunderstand. I merely appreciate Xiao Li’s abilities.”
“Teacher Qin, you’re still young, but you have great insight. No wonder you can handle those officers so well on your show. You’re truly remarkable!” Mr. Huang had already formed a high opinion of Qin Xuan in his heart.
He hadn’t missed a single episode of Qin Xuan’s show, fearing that he might miss something. Observing Qin Xuan’s performance, Mr. Huang was genuinely impressed.
Highly impressive, indeed. Mr. Huang’s assessment of Qin Xuan was astute. He kept his emotions hidden, even though he had a strong liking for Xiao Li.
Instead, he chose to act as if he didn’t like her at all. It was quite impressive. There was much to learn from this approach.
“Hehe, Teacher Qin, I understand. I really do!” Mr. Huang revealed a knowing expression only men could recognize. He knew of non-verbal cues and could tell that Qin Xuan was likely very busy.
Considering Qin Xuan had cut right to the point earlier, Mr. Huang understood that to make this meeting successful, he couldn’t beat around the bush.
Therefore, he promptly took out his project plan from his briefcase. Qin Xuan visibly relaxed upon seeing this. He wouldn’t have been comfortable listening to flattery all afternoon.
Mr. Huang introduced his ideas directly, allowing Qin Xuan to review the plan. Qin Xuan glanced at it and then handed it to Professor Yang.
While he found the overall plan suitable, he felt that the details needed to be scrutinized by an expert.
All in all, although Mr. Huang was smooth in his dealings, he had put together a very formal and well-thought-out project. Qin Xuan found several key points to be quite promising.
Professor Yang, being a scholarly expert, approached the matter with a rigorous attitude. While the project appeared sincere, scholarly diligence was essential in their evaluation.
“Mr. Huang, we will need to study this project plan more thoroughly when we return, and we’ll get back to you with our response,” Professor Yang said, collecting the project plan.
Since they were committed to rigor, making a hasty decision was not an option. Qin Xuan agreed with Professor Yang’s approach, understanding that such an important decision couldn’t be rushed.
Next on the agenda was dinner, and Mr. Huang took the opportunity to seek historical insights from Qin Xuan.
Qin Xuan spoke eloquently, and Mr. Huang seemed captivated. However, Qin Xuan couldn’t tell whether Mr. Huang’s interest was genuine or a facade.
This was one of the downsides of dealing with social obligations. When everyone played the game of social niceties, it could be challenging to discern whether people were speaking sincerely or not.
Station Manager had to return to work in the afternoon, so the meal concluded relatively early. However, Mr. Huang had already made up his mind to visit.
He understood that winning over Qin Xuan was crucial for the success of this project. Qin Xuan had shown a particular interest in Xiao Li today, and her performance could play a vital role in sealing the deal.
After dinner, Qin Xuan exchanged contact information with Mr. Huang and Xiao Li. After all, it was challenging to refuse when someone came over to scan QR codes, right?
Qin Xuan then got into Station Manager’s car.
“Mr. Yang, what are your thoughts on this collaboration?” Station Manager asked Professor Yang directly.
“I find it promising. While Mr. Huang might be a bit flashy, their capabilities are quite strong. We’ll need to delve into the details further, but, of course, it depends on Qin Xuan,” Professor Yang said, glancing at Qin Xuan.
Mr. Huang possessed strong media capabilities, and a partnership with Qin Xuan could bring significant benefits. However, if Qin Xuan weren’t willing, it would all be in vain.
“Professor Yang, Director, please watch this for me. I’m already overwhelmed with managing the show,” Qin Xuan said, scratching his head.
Professor Yang might have misunderstood him.
As soon as he said this, Qin Xuan’s phone received a message from Xiao Li, with a room number and an invitation to learn a foreign language.
“Huang General has quite the approach. I’m not a fan of it. Collaboration should be based on the strengths of both parties. If the strengths aren’t sufficient, it’s pointless,” Qin Xuan stated honestly.
“Testing cadres with this? Which cadre can’t withstand such a test?” Qin Xuan sent a voice message in response.
At that moment, Xiao Li saw Qin Xuan’s response and was visibly surprised. She hadn’t expected Qin Xuan to reply in this manner.
“Qin Xuan, I knew you could resist temptation. Well done!” Professor Yang praised sincerely.
“Let’s discuss the rules for additional updates.
I’ve written a book elsewhere before, and now I can focus on updating this one properly.”
The regular schedule was to release four chapters, totaling 20,000 words.
Currently, there were 9,700 fresh flowers (an indicator of popularity), and for every additional thousand, I’ll release an extra chapter.
The author had set the release day as Thursday and was stockpiling chapters.
Because the current performance was uncertain, he didn’t want to promise too much. For every extra thousand fresh flowers, he would add another chapter.
For every hundred reviews, one more chapter would be added, and for every ten fresh flowers, another chapter would be added.
“This is roughly where things stand at the moment. The fresh flowers haven’t changed from the day before yesterday until today, so I’m not sure if anyone is reading now.”
