Life in Another World With Narration

chapter 76

76 – Meruru’s Great Adventure

Aruru was transferred to the demon sanctuary underground by Algot.

It seems she was sent there through a personal route to avoid attracting attention from people.

There, Aruru was scheduled to adapt through building trust with demons in similar situations as her own.

Algot asked me to keep Aruru’s situation a secret from Meruru until the situation stabilized.

I wanted to inform her about Aruru’s condition right away, but it was obvious that chaos would ensue if she found out, so I agreed to the request.

Instead, I promised to receive periodic updates on Aruru’s situation through Algot, and she even allowed me to visit the demon sanctuary directly if I wanted to.

And after all this was settled, Algot’s attitude towards me changed slightly.

Even when there was nothing special going on, she started calling me to her office frequently.

When I visited, thinking it was a call from the Guild Master, she would ask about my well-being or engage in casual small talk before sending me off.

She would even suggest drinking good tea together that she had obtained, or going out for tea or a meal after guild business hours, actively seeking social activities.

The gaze that always seemed to scrutinize me from head to toe was no longer there when I talked to Algot.

She had always had a way of confusing people with her nonchalant and ambiguous attitude.

But now, it felt like she had shed a thin mask and was focused on creating a comfortable atmosphere.

“Tina, has the Master’s personality changed recently?”

I asked Tina, who had been bothered by the subtle changes in the Guild Master.

Tina tilted her head and gave a puzzled look.

“No? I don’t think anything has changed….”

“Is that so?”

“Maybe it’s because Yunoa has become close with the Master? They’ve been calling each other a lot lately.”

As we were having that conversation, suddenly the door to the office behind us swung open and Algot appeared.

“I’m sorry for the change in my personality.”

He looked at me with a chubby expression and said.

“Oh, M…Master… It’s not like that…”

Tina flailed her hands in the air, flustered.

I was just as flustered.

No, how on earth did he hear that?

“Well, it’s fine. It wasn’t really a bad thing to say. Yunoa, come in for a moment.”

Algot gestured to me.

Tina looked at me with a worried face.

It seemed like she was worried that I would get scolded by Algot.

Well, judging by Algot’s expression, it didn’t seem like he had any intention of doing that.

Anyway, I followed Algot and went into the Master’s office.

“Do you want some tea?”

“Oh, yes…”

Now, because I had been called so many times and had gotten used to it, I naturally answered and sat down.

Algot poured tea into a familiar cup and asked me.

“Do you really think my personality has changed?”

…Surely, it can’t be that she’s unexpectedly keeping it in her heart.

“No, it’s just that… she’s been calling me more frequently lately.”

“I told you. Now that you know that fact, you should become someone Yunoa can trust the most.”

“That’s right.”

“Since we’ve become people who share secrets, it’s only natural to treat each other differently than other adventurers, isn’t it?”

Algot placed a warm cup of tea in front of me and sat down.

She was taking care of me in her own way.

Algot was the master of the Kuber Adventurers Guild.

There was no reason to refuse her kindness.

I just needed a moment to adjust to the suddenly intimate attitude.

“Speaking of which, I heard that you have a mansion that no one wants to buy because it’s difficult to deal with.”

“Are you talking about the Bellafork Mansion?”

It was the place where the little demon ghost Shari had a terrible incident.

I resolved the related request, and I was the owner of the mansion.

There had been a consignment sale during the time when Philstone was running the guild, but no buyer had appeared.

The consignment sale, which had been entrusted to the guild when the master changed to Algot, was canceled, and it was now left abandoned.

“Do you still have that mansion?”

“Well… um… I don’t have any use for it, so I’m just leaving it abandoned.”

“By any chance, do you have any thoughts of selling it cheap?”

Algot asked me.

Do you have any intention of selling the mansion? If I could sell it, I would have sold it immediately.

The reason I took on the request to sell the mansion at the time was because the mansion was said to have an enormous value of tens of thousands of gold.

But it wouldn’t sell.

From the start, it was a mansion that had gained a reputation for being haunted, and its location was not great either.

There were many parts that were broken and needed repairs.

Even if I sold this mansion at a cheap price just to use it, the cost of repairs would exceed the tens of thousands of gold.

So I had erased the existence of the Bellaforte Mansion from my mind while still owning its ownership.

But is Algot planning to buy it?

I can’t miss this opportunity.

“If I can sell it, I can sell it for any price. How much are you thinking?”

“No, I’m not saying that I will buy it.”

“Oh…are you talking about consigning it to the guild for sale?”

“It’s not that either.”

“I know a magician. He wants to come around here.”

A magician? Well, whatever the case, if he buys the mansion, I welcome it.

I have no use for the mansion I’ve been owning, and I wouldn’t mind selling it at a heavily discounted price.

Originally, it was said to be a mansion with an enormous value of tens of thousands of gold, but if I leave it like this, it will have no value at all.

“Does that magician want to buy my mansion?”

“Well, that person is a bit eccentric. He does all sorts of experiments with magic and does a lot of strange things. So he wants a moderately luxurious and spacious house in a place that is somewhat away from the city.”

According to Algot’s words, the Bellaforte Mansion had the perfect conditions.

It was located somewhat far from Kubel and was moderately luxurious.

Of course, it needed a lot of repairs…

“I’ll sell it for a reasonable price.”

“Really? Then I’ll contact the other party.”

“Um… how much are you thinking?”

“I’m thinking around 5,000 gold. It’s a bit low for a mansion, but… is it okay?”

5,000 gold?!

With that much money, I wanted to make the deal right away, even if the mansion wasn’t selling at all.

I struggled to keep my excitement in check and maintained a nonchalant expression as much as possible.

Real estate is truly the best.

“It’s not like I have any use for it as it is. That price is much lower than the market value, but… well, since Master knows the person, it seems okay to sell at that price.”

“Then let’s talk again when the contact is made.”

Algot said to me with a smile on his face.

“Oh, and… there might be a time when I personally need your help. If the mansion deal goes through, could you possibly grant me a small favor?”

The moment I heard those words, I felt like I knew why Algot suddenly introduced me to someone who could sell the mansion.

That’s right, she wanted to burden me with another ‘debt’ in exchange for getting rid of my personal belongings.

But it’s too much money to refuse.

“…As long as it’s not something absurd.”

I accepted Algot’s proposal.

It is said that Meruru, who had been ordered to take a forced vacation by Algot, started going to the guild again.

I went to the adventurer guild early in the morning to check if Meruru was doing well and working hard.

“Meruru! Will become an adventurer! aaah!”

But the moment I opened the guild’s door and went in, an incredible sight caught my eye.

Meruru, instead of being at the specialized counter for different races, was standing in the adventurer waiting room and shouting strange things.

“Meruru will become an adventurer! I will become an adventurer and find my sister!”

“Wait! Today is the end of your vacation and your first day back! What will you do if you get fired like this?”

Tina was holding onto Meruru, trying to persuade her with a bewildered expression.

What on earth is going on?

“What’s all this commotion? Meruru, you suddenly want to become an adventurer? What is that…”

“Ah! Yunoa! Meruru thought about it! Since my sister appeared, I can’t just stay here! I have to become an adventurer and go find her!”

Meruru, saying that, was overflowing with energy.

But Meruru was a weakling among weaklings, almost getting eaten by a blue slime.

Of course, there was no way she could become an adventurer.

Meruru was causing a fuss about becoming an adventurer, and Tina was struggling to calm her down.

In the midst of the chaos, the office door opened and Algot appeared.

Algot glanced at Meruru, who was stubbornly insisting in the adventurer waiting room, and spoke.

“Is it not okay? Anyone can dream of becoming an adventurer. Meruru can become an adventurer too.”

“What?! But Master…”

Tina looked at Algot with a bewildered expression and said.

However, Algot didn’t pay any attention to it.

“Please register as an adventurer. Until you want to come back, consider the receptionist job on leave.”

“That’s right! Meruru! I’m going to become an adventurer!”

As Meruru jumped around and shouted, Algot gestured to me without saying a word.

Following that gesture, as I approached her, Algot whispered to me.

“Wouldn’t it be a good change of mood? Take care of Meruru for a bit. I’ll handle all the requests.”

Then he winked at me as if giving a signal.

A change of mood, huh…

Well, at least Meruru looked the healthiest among the recent times.

At a time like this, it should be okay to spend some time with her.

Feeling flustered and not knowing what to do, I quietly nodded at Algot in the midst of Meruru calling out for adventurers and running wild.
