Chapter 10: Chapter 10
Clark had said the same thing last time, only to end up throwing a one-metre-long snake near Mike.
"Can I see?" Mike asked nervously.
Clark took a step back and, with a cautious expression, said, "You're not going to toss my friend away again, right?"
Mike gently replied, "No."
After a moment of hesitation, Clark opened his hand.
In his palm were three bugs of different colors, their furry bodies squirming slowly.
Mike's expression changed. Without warning, he grabbed Clark's hand and shook it vigorously, causing the bugs to fall to the ground. He then hugged Clark, stood up, and quickly left.
The secret weapon of parents: ruthlessness.
Clark stood frozen for a moment before bursting into tears. "Daddy lied to me! Daddy lied to me!"
"Those bugs are poisonous!" he cried.
"No! Daddy lied to me!"
"They'll bite your fingers!"
"I'm not afraid!" Clark insisted defiantly.
"I'll make you some roast pork for lunch today," Mike offered, trying to calm him down.
"Ooooh, I want two bowls!" Clark exclaimed, sniffling.
The parents' ultimate weapon: food. Success!
At Mike's home, after preparing lunch, he watched Clark eat happily. Smiling to himself, Mike silently activated the system.
The system interface appeared in his mind:
Host: Mike Kent
Ability: Memory realization
Current level: LV1
Upgrade progress: 50%
Yes, you read that right—his upgrade progress was at fifty percent!
Mike had finally discovered how to enhance his ability. Since the system was called the "Super Dad System," it made sense that it was tied to children.
Whenever Clark grew or achieved something, the progress bar for Mike's upgrade would increase, boosting his powers along with it.
Though it was just a thirty percent growth so far, his energy output had already multiplied several times!
For now, he could only manifest basic props and equipment. But that was just the beginning.
Clark's Growth Records:
Son: Clark Kent (Kryptonian)
August 8, 1982: Clark learned to roll over.
October 1, 1982: Clark learned to sit.
November 29, 1982: Clark learned to crawl.
The once-empty page of Clark's records was now filled with milestones from his early years.
As Mike reflected on these three challenging years, tears welled up in his eyes. He was lucky to have raised Clark and guided him through it all.
Even though Clark was only three years old, his Kryptonian powers were already emerging. Mike had been diligently teaching him to control them, always stressing the importance of hiding his abilities from others.
The world may appear bright on the surface, but Mike knew the darkness that lay beneath. He had seen it firsthand in his previous life as an assassin—mutants subjected to cruel experiments, homeless people used as test subjects...
The mere thought sent chills through Mike.
If research institutions discovered Clark's uniqueness, Mike couldn't bear to imagine the consequences.
Thankfully, Clark was a good, intelligent child. He had already noticed he was different from other kids, and he listened to Mike's advice, never revealing his powers in front of others. This gave Mike some peace of mind.
Though Clark occasionally showed a willful side, it was only with Mike.
But Mike had a simple solution for that: red meat.
There was no mood that a good serving of red meat couldn't fix. And if there was, he'd just add a plate of sliced apples and a donut.
In these three years, Mike had mastered many dishes, enough to handle anything Clark could throw at him.
