Lord of Dreams – A Multiverse Fanfiction

Chapter 230: A familiar ending

Frozen Time, Sealed Space,

With the spatiotemporal powers that were attached to Lorien's sword silently unfolding within the domain following Lorien's slash, everything abruptly came to a standstill.

Be it the dust particles in the air, the clouds of dust generated by Gojo's attack, the pure white clouds in the air, or even the rotating sun and moon, nothing was exempted from this rule.

Even the 'black hole' like 'Death Ball' that was heading toward Lorien silently came to a halt as the mysterious power within the domain silently manifested itself once again further boosting these characteristics to even greater heights.

At this very moment, it was as if the world itself was a video and someone clicked on the pause button.

However, as magnificent as this is, it wasn't the main focus of the event as this was eventually nothing but an after-effect of the slash rather than being the attack itself.

But, even if that was the case, it was still enough to cause a large debate among those who were watching the battle and were feeling a bit perplexed by what they were witnessing.

"This?"

"Why did the screen pause?"

"Did something happen to the live broadcast?"

"This is being broadcast by the silver-haired guy that had just appeared, right? Could it be that he got injured by Gojo's attack which caused issues with the live stream?"

"His name is Lorien, and that's indeed possible..."

It's just that as people were leaning towards this explanation, another group immediately retorted with their own thoughts.

"If that was the case, then why are the screens themselves still unaffected?"

"Maybe he used some treasure to create them which is independent from the broadcasting feature which he maintains himself."

"...Well, I still think that it's impossible!"

"Hmph, that criminal effectively pushed the world as we know it into great collapse with his own hands, he deserves to die!"

"Criminal? I wouldn't call him that."

"Heh, god knows how many deaths his selfish act caused because of the riots that are currently occurring all over the world."

"With instability comes opportunity! Moreover, I prefer seeing the truth rather than living my whole life in a complete illusion."

"Heh, but you need to survive first to enjoy it, and was living in a lie uncomfortable? You know, there is a reason so as to why the world was previously divided as such!"

"Everything comes at a certain price, and aren't you being too pessimistic?"

"A price that not all are willing to pay, after all, most people don't have that big of a dream and just want to live their lives normally, moreover, aren't you being too optimistic about this change?

"Spoken like a true sheep, at least now we can all begin from the same starting line."

"Arrogant, we still don't know what he's up to, after all, I don't believe that he did all of this without actually benefiting himself, moreover, there is nothing wrong with living prudently, at least that way I'll survive."

"Hmph, Coward!"

"Intellectually disabled."

"You..."

However, just then as this debate which had already deviated from its original topic was about to heat up even more, a loud and crisp noise that sounded somewhat similar to that of a bar of chocolate snapping into two echoed across the battlefield and into the ears of all those who were watching.

"Huh?"

"Where did this noise come from?"

*Snap*

With everyone's attention swiftly going back to the screen that was broadcasting the battle, the sounds of cold breaths of air being collectively taken spread across the space like a virus.

There, in the oppressed and frozen space-time, a black line that looked like it divided everything in sight silently manifested itself.

At first, this black line looked rather slim and small, however, it soon grew into a sky-splitting gash that forcefully divided the sky into two with no end in sight.

Be it the wind, clouds, or even space, everything that stood in its path was split apart.

However, this was after all still nothing but collateral damage which remained after this attack achieved its objective.

*Crack*

However, just then another cracking noise echoed as the frozen 'ball of death' also split from the middle with the top half sliding to the side.

This caused the already unstable energy within this 'death ball' to finally erupt into a large explosion.

However, just as the first signs of this explosion manifested itself, it was quickly and forcefully suppressed by the domain causing it to get extinguished dead in its tracks.

Looking at this result and looking back at how much effort and preparation this attack took to launch, It frankly felt unsatisfactory and unfulfilling, it felt like thunder without rain.

As for Gojo who was the main target of the attack and who bore the main impact, he froze in place maintaining his hand sign as a self-depreciating smile slowly appeared on his face.

'Ah...'

'What an attack!'

'But, this is the end huh...'

'At least this time, I made him try his best.'

'However, it's a pity that I won't be able to witness the new era...'

'I just wish that my students don't hold a grudge and do something stupid...'

*PUFF*

*Slash*

*Drip*

*Drip*

There, at that very moment, under everyone's horrified eyes and terror-stricken hearts, a line of blood slowly appeared across Gojo's stomach dividing him into two from the middle.

Then, as this line grew wider with time, it seemed like Gojo's body could no longer hold itself together as his upper body finally 'slid off' falling into the ground and only leaving his lower body still standing there unmoving.

'Ahh...'

*Blur*

Feeling his vision grow blurrier and his body stiffening by the moment, Gojo tried turning his head towards Lorien one last moment as a happy smile appeared on his face

'It was really fun though, I don't regret it at all.'
