Lord of Dreams – A Multiverse Fanfiction

Chapter 276: The End Of A Clash; The Beginning Of A Story (2)

"They should have already gotten news about this, we should watch the battle first and worry about the report later."

Indeed, it is as Aki had guessed, as by now, both the public and private devil hunters had already received news of the events unfolding in real-time.

After all, it would be difficult for any country not to notice such an energy burst, even if it was far across the planet.

However, the information they received through the satellites was minimal as all they knew was that some sort of clash between two immense forces was happening in Japan, with Hotel Morin as the epicenter.

Additionally, there was the unbelievable fact that due to this clash, cities in the surrounding 19-kilometer radius were raised to the ground.

According to live witnesses from the surrounding cities, one moment there was nothing, and the next, the heavens were lit up by a crimson light while the earth was blanketed with a soothing, dreamy power.

Then, before anyone could react, the earth itself seemed to boil under pressure as a supreme power born from the collision of these two forces followed, washing everything away, and leaving only a huge pothole in its wake.

In an instant, the earth was scarred, the geological environment reshaped, and all signs of civilization were removed.

It is clear that such damage simply won't be healed without thousands of years of natural restoration for the planet.

Frankly, when they first got wind of this, they thought that the satellites were misfunctioning or that it was an illusion, however, as things continued, it quickly became clear that it was another incident that rivals the decent of the gun devil 13 years ago.

If the people caught within the 19-kilometer radius were to be calculated as casualties, the damage caused here would be as much as three times that of the Gun Devil's rampage.

So, faced with so much damage and potential casualties, it is not an understatement to say that the world's entire attention is focused there.

And by now, the countries witnessing this have already formulated a few hypotheses regarding the cause behind this incident.

Some think that it is a new devil that rivals the Gun Devil, some believe that primordial devils have appeared, while others even go as far as guessing that the gates to hell were kicked open and that the end might be nearing.

However, if we are going to talk about the country that's most focused on this event, it would be Japan, as it had suddenly lost a large portion of its territory for no apparent reason.

As for how focused they are on this? They have already called upon their strongest forces available to investigate the situation!

Right now, in one of the neighboring countries, stood the two strongest devil hunters in the country.

Standing shoulder to shoulder, Makima and Kishibe were just meters away from where the destruction stopped, looking in silence at the devastation unfolding before them.

With the Devil Hunters headquarters being just kilometers away from here, it is conceivable how freaked out the higher-ups were when this happened.

After all, being one of the "lucky" neighboring cities, if the clash between Lorien and the world had expanded a little more, everything they had been working for would have been obliterated.

The devil hunters' team, the devil's prison where all the captured devils are sealed—everything would have been lost.

Or at least, that's what they thought, as for the time being, they didn't know that all the humans caught in the middle of this were saved by Lorien.

However, frankly, their fears aren't too far off the mark.

After all, if Lorien had known about the existence of this prison, he would most likely have done it intentionally and dragged this city into it as well.

So, they are actually considered very lucky to have not been discovered by him.

However, none of this matters right now, as it is nothing but pure speculation.

"We have never been sent on the same mission, have we?" Suddenly spoke Makima in a calm and serene tone, apparently not caring about the severity of the situation.

Such calmness was also mirrored by Kishibe, who took a sip from his silver hip flask as his dead and emotionless eyes reflected the raging thunder and the miraculous dreamy light clashing in the sky.

"No, we have not."

"This is unexpected indeed."

Saying this, Makima looked at the battlefield before her, her face losing its smile as she felt like she had lost control for the first time since her birth.

After all, the events unfolding before her were completely out of her control and beyond her reach.

Additionally, as the Control Devil, she was somewhat familiar with one of the participants in this battle, as every devil senses its presence when they are born.

Logically speaking, this existence is their origin, the source of their birth—the will of this world.

However, even if she knew this, she didn't explain anything as she instead restored her calm smile and asked Kishibe.

"Do you think that this is a new devil? It might actually be a primordial one!"

Yet, despite not having as much information as her, Kishibe didn't buy this at all as he responded.

"Bullshit, I've seen enough to tell that this is no devil."

"We can't be sure of that."

Hearing Makima's response, Kishibe was about to retort, however, his phone suddenly rang interrupting his conversation.

Hearing this sound, Kisihbe calmly took out and looked at the caller before responding without any hesitation.

"Yes...Uhmm...I see."

*Beep*

*Beep*

*Beep*

Obtaining the information he wanted, Kishibe slowly moved the phone away from his ear and hung up before turning his head to Makima.

"Good news, it appears that one of the parties involved in this battle has a good impression of humans as he teleported everyone who was caught in the middle to different parts of Japan."

"Were we able to gather any information from them?"

"Yes," Kishibe confirmed. "According to some private and public devil hunters who were also caught, it seems that the owner of the multicolored power is fighting what he called the 'Will of the World' and that he'll provide power to humans after this battle ends."

"It seems that we don't need to investigate this any longer."

"Yes, but we can't be sure of this information, so we should move closer to see things for ourselves."

"The radius of the battle has indeed been reduced, so it should be somewhat safe to get a bit closer."

"Let's move in then..."
