Chapter 293: Vagueness

Meanwhile, just as Aki finished his battle, the fight against the Katana devil was only growing more and more heated as Denji, Power, and their enemy were locked in an intense close-range battle, making it difficult for their teammates to offer support without risking friendly fire.

This shift transformed the previous clear beatdown into a more balanced battle, with the outcome now uncertain.

"Ragh!!!"

"Take this!"

*Swish*

*Crack*

*BOOM*

Watching this, Arai couldn't help but silently move closer to Himeno and ask her for instructions.

"Shouldn't we help them?" He spoke lightly.

However, what he got in response was a startled jump from Himeno, who had been intently watching the spot where Aki and Akane had been fighting.

"Ah!"

Focusing all her attention on Aki and preparing to use her ability to assist him at any moment, Himeno had somewhat forgotten about her own battle, her vigilance slipping away.

She was so distracted that she hadn't even noticed Arai approaching her; If it had been an enemy, the consequences would have been predictably severe.

However, realizing who it was, Himeno couldn't help but glare at him before turning her attention back to her own battlefield.

'Neither party can finish off the other; moreover, all of them are fiends, so this is simply a battle of endurance rather than combat power.'

'We simply can't intervene here; long-range attacks aren't very controllable, and in close range, we'll simply be a hindrance.'

Thinking of this, Himeno shook her head in response to Arai's question and responded.

"We can't, but still get ready to attack if the opportunity arises."

It's just that as she said this, Himeno suddenly froze as she remembered something she had somehow overlooked.

'Where is Kobeni...'

Ever since the battle began, despite her great strength, Kobeni was the only one who hadn't participated.

Her presence was so negligible that Himeno had even forgotten she was present.

Thinking about this, Himeno couldn't help but turn her head towards her causing the latter to be startled in response, almost dropping the weapon she held in her arms.

"Eeeh!"

However, seeing Himeno's serious look, Kobeni couldn't help but grit her teeth and hold tightly onto her weapon as she waited for instructions.

'The bonus...the bonus...' She kept internally repeating as that was her greatest motivation.

Seeing this, Himeno felt a bit speechless; However, she was already used to it and didn't care much, after all, devil hunters were never known for their stable mental states.

Moreover, this didn't prevent her from giving orders as she silently winked at Kobeni, instructing her to launch a sneak attack on the Katana Devil to end this battle.

'Oh!'

Finally receiving her task, Kobeni, who had previously appeared nervous, swiftly showcased firsthand what it meant to experience a reversal of extremes.

When things reach an extreme, they reverse; For example, at the limit of light, there is darkness, and at the extremes of darkness, one finds light.

As for Kobeni, the moment she was about to take action, her nervousness seemed to reach its limit, triggering her fight-or-flight reflexes and causing her mind to reverse from extreme nervousness into complete calmness.

So, after receiving the command, Kobeni gripped her 'kitchen knife' and rushed into the battlefield, ready to 'cook'.

*Swish*

Disappearing from her position, Kobeni flashed from one place to another silently like a ghost, making it difficult for anyone watching to follow her movements.

However, it seemed that even then, Kobeni's speed hadn't reached its limit yet as just as she was halfway across the battlefield, she accelerated once more, vanishing in an instant and reappearing behind the Katana Devil before anyone could react.

*Swish*

*Pufff*

In an instant, under Power and Denji's shocked eyes, and the confused and surprised eyes of the Katana Devil, a kitchen knife suddenly pierced through his neck before he could react or understand what was happening.

However, none of the devil hunters cared about what he thought right now as after reacting, Denji and Power swiftly launched their own attacks, intending to end this long overdue battle.

It's just that all this did was escalate the brutality of the scene further, with body fragments scattering everywhere.

The decisive final blow, however, came from Kobeni, who simply twisted the knife and cleanly severed the enemy's head off causing blood to splatter everywhere.

Doing so, Kobeni ignored Denji and Power's shocked eyes as she looked silently at her fallen enemy before taking a few steps back leaving the aftermath for the others to deal with.

However, it seemed that Denji wasn't planning on letting it slip as he couldn't resist asking Kobeni after he transformed back into his human form.

"Hey, I didn't know you were this strong!"

It's just that after saying this, Denji seemed unconcerned with the answer, his attention swiftly returning to the 'corpse' beside him as he tapped it twice with his foot

"He'll soon die."

However, the one who responded this time wasn't any of the nearby members, instead, it was Aki who walked over slowly, wiping whatever blood remained at the corner of his mouth.

"Keep a close watch on him; don't let him die just yet as we still need information from him."

Stating this, Aki continued, his gaze sweeping the surroundings as he remained vigilant, sensing that something was off

"I've already informed HQ, but if he tries to escape or anything unexpected happens, you have permission to finish him off."

Hearing this, Himeno and Arai, who had quickly walked over to ask about his condition, froze for a moment and swiftly altered their inquiry.

"Isn't it over? Did you see anything?" Asked Himeno.

However, In response, Aki just shook his head and continued looking around.

'I still can't use that ability quickly, nor can I control when it triggers.'

'The previous automatic triggering when we were attacked was simply a stroke of luck; In normal cases, I still need to step aside and figure things out slowly.'

'If I use it right now, any enemy that might be present could seize the opportunity to attack, catching all of us off guard.'

As he thought of this, Aki couldn't help but feel somewhat speechless.

'Am I being too sensitive?'

It's just that before he could finish this thought, a sudden noise echoed across the battlefield, sending a chill down everyone's spine and making their hair stand on end.
