Chapter 110: Realm Specialties
In Masadora, Rosen carefully flipped through his card collection book and pulled out a stack of "Return" and "Drift" spell cards. There were 45 cards in total, all of which he converted into extraordinary artifacts. He planned to sell these cards, confident they would fetch a high price in the spiritual market.
Although each static painting key Rosen made required only a small amount of spiritual energy, there was one downside: their lifespan was short. This time, Rosen had activated too many virtual realms for the Main God game, overextending the spiritual energy resources available for each realm.
However, Rosen wasn't planning to turn these virtual realms into physical realities just yet. The reason was simple: once they became physical, ordinary people would no longer be able to access them. If these realms were integrated into the Hunter x Hunter world, the result would be catastrophic—monsters, ghosts, and other horrors would be unleashed worldwide.
Rosen wasn't in a hurry, though. He knew that at any moment, these virtual realms could be made physical after absorbing enough spiritual energy from the Main God system. For now, however, he preferred to extract the spiritual energy produced by these realms, turning it into profit.
Initially, Rosen considered converting the extracted energy into spiritual energy crystals, but he soon realized that energy from virtual realms could only be used to exchange items via the Main God's Computer. This was not a major issue since Rosen could exchange energy for Hunter x Hunter realm specialties and then sell those to accumulate spiritual energy crystals in the market.
In fact, this was a common business model among nobles—selling rare realm specialties to earn spiritual energy. Though exchanging large quantities of common resources often resulted in a 10% to 100% loss, dealing in rare and exclusive goods significantly reduced this risk. Even so, nobles had to be cautious, as realms had limits on how much could be extracted without damaging their foundation.
Rosen had extracted little from Greed Island up to this point, but after withdrawing large amounts of spell cards over consecutive days, he realized he was nearing the upper limit. Each spell card drawn from the island was a Nen construct, and by removing them, he was permanently decreasing Greed Island's overall Nen energy.
To avoid draining the island dry, Rosen knew he would eventually have to find a way to replenish the island's Nen energy, balancing the loss from extracting spell cards. Without this, obtaining more magical cards in the future would become impossible.
Converting each spell card into an extraordinary artifact cost about 500 spiritual energy crystals, and Rosen planned to sell them for 5,000 crystals each. Though this seemed steep, Rosen was confident in his pricing—after all, demand would easily surpass supply once the cards entered the market.
Even though there were various supernatural methods for fast travel—such as portal spells from the wizard sequence or void gates created by scientists and architects—Rosen's Nen-based artifact cards presented a unique alternative. As anti-teleportation spells became more common in combat, having additional escape tools like Return or Drift cards could make the difference between life and death. In battle, having multiple escape methods was invaluable for ensuring survival.
Rosen's cards could serve as life-saving tools, especially for lower-sequence fighters. While higher-sequence fighters could easily bypass Nen-based defenses, these cards still represented a new, versatile method of escape, and Rosen was certain they would sell well before countermeasures emerged.
Over the next few days, Rosen converted over a hundred spell cards, earning tens of thousands of spiritual energy crystals. Despite this success, he was still not satisfied. His next objective was to push the Main God game to the next stage.
In the Hunter x Hunter world, awakening Nen required strong spiritual strength, but it was difficult to measure spiritual power without extensive training. Only candidates with both physical and mental resilience—such as those who passed the Hunter Exam—could awaken their Nen without risking death from aura leakage.
Rosen's Main God Computer allowed him to filter individuals based on their spiritual strength or life force. With the backing of the Shafiq Corporation, he could recruit and train these promising individuals, exposing them to horror virtual realms to enhance their mental fortitude while strengthening their bodies with magical beast meat.
The Hunter x Hunter world had no shortage of potential—even ordinary children could possess immense strength if properly trained. Rosen's role was to find these hidden talents and awaken their abilities through his virtual realms.
Although Rosen's spirit residents—the souls of Nen users killed in battle—had successfully become inhabitants of his Divine Domain, they lacked the growth potential of living beings. Spirit residents could not use potions and had extremely slow development unless they switched to necromancer sequences, which were heavily restricted by the World Government. Because of these restrictions, Rosen couldn't rely on spirits alone to populate his domain.
Living followers were much more valuable, but attracting them required the construction of special supernatural buildings. Initially hesitant due to the cost, Rosen now had a steady flow of spiritual energy crystals from his card sales, making him willing to invest in such buildings.
Logging into the marketplace, Rosen purchased ten special supernatural residences, designed to house living followers and enhance their development. These buildings would allow his domain to flourish with human and non-human followers, growing both in numbers and in strength.
