Lord: Sequence Master

Chapter 113: A Feast of Frenzy

Pakunoda steered the Bladefin Shark through the depths of the ocean, carefully avoiding the increasing number of extraordinary sea beasts lurking below.

Chrollo and the others were tense, as they had always believed the deep sea to be a forbidden zone for humans.

Suddenly, a ten-meter-long swordfish charged at the Bladefin Shark, but Rosen swiftly deployed the Space Fog.

The swordfish instantly lost its sense of direction, unable to approach the Bladefin Shark.

However, diving too deep into the ocean wasn't wise—the Space Fog had its limits.

In Rosen's Divine Domain, the Magic Altar's Space Fog could cover the entire domain, but when projected outside through Rosen's spiritual sea, its range shrank to a radius of 180 meters, tied to his spiritual strength.

While this protected them from close-range extraordinary sea beasts, it didn't offer full protection from long-range attacks.

Thus, caution was necessary, and Gray Rat periodically directed Pakunoda to navigate away from danger.

After half an hour of cautious movement, the Bladefin Shark finally reached the deep sea, several kilometers below the surface.

Here, in the pitch-black waters, most extraordinary sea beasts relied on sensing water currents rather than sight.

The Bladefin Shark settled quietly on the seafloor, and under the cover of the Space Fog, Rosen began merging his Divine Domain with the real world.

Unlike the previous merger at the Mechanical Spirit Islands, which took two full days, this fusion required only two hours—a testament to the Magic Altar's ability to enhance the efficiency of merging through the Space Fog.

As soon as the domain fully unfolded, the surrounding seawater was displaced by the dense fog at the domain's edge.

The Brilliant Lighthouse emitted a faint glow, which immediately attracted a nearby Sequence 8 extraordinary sea beast.

As the creature charged into the Divine Domain, it plummeted from the sky into a sea of flames.

Rosen had already activated the Brilliant Lighthouse, enveloping the area with its Brilliant Shine—an all-encompassing light attack.

The intense heat from the Brilliant Shine raised the temperature around the lighthouse to thousands of degrees Celsius. While this wasn't enough to kill a Sequence 7 beast outright, it could easily weaken a Sequence 8 creature.

Most extraordinary sea beasts couldn't survive out of water; once on land, they became easy prey.

Rosen's Hunter Sequence team, including Chrollo, quickly moved in, using guns and arrows to finish off the weakened beast from a distance.

In moments, the creature disintegrated into several loot orbs.

This was just the beginning. More and more extraordinary sea beasts were drawn to the Brilliant Lighthouse like moths to a flame.

Rosen assigned all Sequence 7 and below sea beasts to Chrollo and the others, allowing them to gain combat experience. Meanwhile, Rosen dealt with Sequence 7 creatures by confusing them with Space Fog and shooting them down with poisoned bolts from his God-Slaying Crossbow.

As the number of loot orbs in his Scavenger Space grew, Rosen felt a rush of exhilaration, entering a frenzied state of hunting.

For several days, thousands of extraordinary sea beasts fell beneath the Brilliant Lighthouse.

Though the endless hunt was exhausting, the thrill was undeniable—until the situation took a turn.

Unlike Ash Beasts, most extraordinary sea creatures had varying degrees of intelligence. After days of relentless slaughter, the surviving creatures instinctively recognized the danger surrounding Rosen's Divine Domain.

Unlike humans, who might engage in endless killing for reasons beyond survival, most extraordinary sea creatures only attacked when hungry or threatened.

After days of hunting more than a thousand sea beasts, the lower-intelligence creatures had all been culled, leaving only the smarter ones.

Continuing the hunt in the same spot meant diminishing returns, as the remaining sea beasts, wary of the danger, avoided the area.

To keep hunting, Rosen would have to move the Divine Domain to a new location with lower-intelligence creatures, but that wasn't a practical solution. The density of extraordinary sea beasts in the immediate area had already plummeted.

Other Divine Lords, especially those at Sequence 6, were far more efficient at hunting these creatures.

Even though the Void Whales continued to drive more sea beasts into the hunting grounds, they couldn't supply enough to meet the demand of the hunters in the Blue Whale Kingdom.

At this point, the remaining low-intelligence sea beasts were becoming scarce.

To keep hunting, Rosen would need to target high-intelligence creatures and engage in active pursuit. Sitting and waiting was no longer an option.

By the end of the day, with little success, Rosen reluctantly withdrew his Divine Domain into his spiritual sea.

He released 19 Frost Nagas—transformed Slimes—and Gray Rat, a creature well-suited for aquatic environments. Rosen cloaked himself in Space Fog, using it to part the seawater as he moved stealthily through the shadows, hunting prey.

In the deep sea, relying on vision was impossible. Sound, smell, and taste were unreliable. Even spiritual perception was risky without the protection of the Divine Domain—confronting a pack of Sequence 7 creatures could prove fatal.

Instead, Rosen relied on his heightened sense of touch. With his touch sensitivity amplified several times over, he could detect faint fluctuations in the Space Fog, mirroring water currents.

Any movement from a sea creature caused the currents to shift, and within several kilometers, no extraordinary beast could escape Rosen's detection.

Once prey was located, Rosen unleashed his team for an all-out attack. The 19 Sequence 8 Frost Nagas and Gray Rat quickly overwhelmed their targets, especially lone creatures.

Though the pace wasn't as rapid as the earlier days, Rosen's hunt was still highly efficient.

During this drawn-out war of attrition, Rosen discovered the hidden potential of his Devour ability.

Without Devour, the Slimes couldn't maintain their transformed forms for long.

Transformations, pet abilities, and battle auras all drained spiritual energy, and without enough reserves, these powers would fade. But with Devour, the Frost Nagas could fight endlessly, restoring their energy, health, and spiritual power after each battle. Instead of growing tired, they grew stronger with each fight.

Rosen himself benefited from Devour, as his second Nen ability, the Devour Beast, consumed vast amounts of extraordinary sea beasts.

Compared to the start of the hunt, Rosen's physical strength had increased by hundreds of kilograms, and his spiritual strength had risen from 18 points to 19 points.

Additionally, his abilities—Death Blow, Shadow Step, and his enhanced five senses—were all approaching Level 3.

In just ten days, Rosen had made more progress than he would have in a year of regular training.

And that wasn't even counting the immense wealth of loot from the slain sea beasts.

But as the remaining sea creatures grew harder to find, it became clear that the grand hunt was nearing its end.
