Chapter 81: No More Popo
Thousands of Holy Knight dressed in red and white armor first drew a cross before charging forward on horseback.
They were confident of their attack. If a devastating charge involving thousands of winged hussars couldn’t bring down the Khitans, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth would have never become a powerhouse at all.
They started the charge with light hearts as if they were out on a tour, but their faces slowly turned grim. They noticed that the lush grassland beneath them was wet, not with rainwater but blood.
Countless horses lay dead on the ground, their bodies mashed up as if trampled by a behemoth. Corpses of their fellow winged hussars littered the battlefield. A disgusting scent stimulated their revulsion, making them barf.
They felt like they had stepped into hell.
“…Captain?” a knight fearfully galloped up to Cassivia and asked.
“…”
There was a crack in Cassivia’s usually cold and stoic face. She was silent for seconds before she raised the sword in her hands and roared, “We have to purge all heretics!”
The other knights swallowed their fears and cheered.
“Purge all heretics!”
They were a step away from becoming the new rulers of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. They wouldn’t allow anything to foil them at this juncture, let alone something as minor as this!
The thousands of Holy Knights mustered their courage and charged on.
Soon, they spotted a dusty red mist with occasional silver glints ahead of them.
“What’s that?” a knight asked in confusion.
The answer was soon revealed to them.
It was row after row of heavy cavalrymen armored from head to toe. A blood twin-headed eagle flew above them, eyeing them loftily from above as if mocking their ignorance.
“The Cataphracts?!” a holy knight exclaimed.
Did the Khitan Caesar bring back the Roman Empire’s Cataphracts?!
“Hm?”
Shu Yichao galloped forward and took off his helmet. He first wiped his face before looking at the relatively shorter female knight captain in front of him.
He had already noticed these red dots even before the outbreak of battle with the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth’s king, and he figured that they were planning to assault him, though he decided to pay them no heed after some thought.
Given their speed, it would take them some time to reach the battlefield. There was more than enough time for him to eliminate the winged hussars right in front of him before turning around to take care of these sneaky assailants.
“Oh? I have seen her portrait. She must be an important target,” Shu Yichao murmured with a grin. “Metal Fortresses, trample them!”
【My host?】
System 12345 was wondering where Shu Yichao was when the latter finally took off his helmet and revealed his dashing face. It had been worried that Shu Yichao would die on the battlefield in a moment of carelessness, since weapons on the battlefield had no eyes.
Its host was a feeble pretty boy, after all. Even if he had been in a war before, how could he fight against these violent metal cans who rammed down everyone in sight?
Yet, it turned out that the person who had slaughtered the most people on the battlefield earlier was its host?!
【Ah, this…】
System 12345 felt light-headed.
【My host, are you here to fight a war again? This is so… unknightly. Are you serving as a mercenary right now?】
Then, System 12345 saw Shu Yichao putting on his helmet and pouncing at the knights in front of him like a ferocious tiger.
【Oyoyoy, my host!】
【We can put aside the matter of you fighting in a war for now, but you’re on the wrong side again! You’re fighting against the Polish Hussars’ Holy Knight Order! That’s the Order you’re supposed to join!】
System 12345 wailed.
【Stop! That’s the valiant Cassivia! Her fighting prowess is…】
System 12345 cried in horror before it belatedly realized that Shu Yichao couldn’t hear its words, so it quickly switched over to the information window.
“Holy Knights!” Cassivia sheathed her sword and raised her lance. “Charge! Purge all heretics!”
Her face was impassive as ever, and her voice was as cold as snow, but her aides beside her noticed that her hands were trembling.
The situation was clear.
Their king’s army had fallen—the Khitan Caesar had decimated them in a direct confrontation. And now, the Khitan Caesar, the Scourge of God, had turned his blade toward them.
The enemy’s heavy cavalrymen had snuck to their flanks under the cover of the red mist. Escape was impossible now. The only chance they might survive was to put their lives on the line and desperately resist the Khitans.
Seriously. I know we were a bit foul-mouthed, but do you have to be so narrow-minded as to come all the way here to attack us over that?
But it was too late for regret.
“CHARGE!”
The Holy Knights roared in desperation as they charged at the Khitans.
Moments later, they were trampled to death.
They cried, screamed, and cursed, but nothing could save them from their inevitable end.
They had tried plunging their lances into both the Metal Fortresses and their steeds, but nothing could faze those metal monsters. Swords and scimitars bounced right off their thick armor, doing nothing except numbing their own hands.
In contrast, the enemy’s red tasseled spear pierced right through their armor. Their tomahawks, metal cudgels, and clubs cracked open their skulls.
As for Shu Yichao, he was practically a human humidifier now that he was wearing the Metal Fortress’ equipment. Wherever he charged, the enemy troops would vaporize into blood mists.
“Damn it!
“These bugs!
“You trash! Worthless!”
Cassivia couldn’t maintain her poker face anymore. Her beautiful features contorted as she watched with tears as her Holy Knight Order was massacred like livestock.
“DAMN IT!!!”
Just then, she felt an extreme chill in her heart.
She turned around and saw a blood-colored Metal Fortress with an indomitable aura charging at her as if he was the envoy of the Death God.
“…”
I’m dead meat. It’s all over.
Cassivia felt powerless. She felt bitter regret.
It was just a few letters. I should have never thought of exploiting the Scourge of God.
“KHITAN HERETIC! YOU ACCURSED MONSTER! GO TO HELL!” she roared as she confronted the Metal Fortress with her sword.
Shu Yichao’s red tasseled spear gushed forth like a black dragon, piercing right through the crying Cassivia.
Psh.
Silence at last.
【…】
【HAHAHAHA!!!】
System 12345 suddenly burst into laughter.
【My host just killed Cassivia?】
【Why would I have such a ridiculous dream? I must be hallucinating, right? It must be a hallucination. Did I sleep too little last night? I should make up for my sleep deprivation…】
【…】
