Lurking in Konoha, Part-Time Hokage

Chapter 12: Chapter 12: Bringing Talent into Genjutsu

"Genjutsu, simply put, is a technique that uses chakra to interfere with the enemy's five senses, causing them to fall into an illusion."

Shinku Yuhi began the explanation with a serious tone.

The five senses refer to sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch. In genjutsu, sight is often the primary sense involved. The most classic example of visual genjutsu is the Sharingan.

In the Ninja World, there is a saying that when facing a ninja from the Uchiha Clan, never look into their Sharingan. Because just one look and you'll be trapped in a genjutsu.

"If two Genjutsu Ninja face off, the outcome depends on the power of Yin Release, or in other words, mental strength."

Shinku Yuhi glanced at Hanekawa and said, "Your mental strength is naturally stronger, so you're suited to learning genjutsu."

"What about mine?" Kurenai couldn't help but ask.

"Yours is also stronger than your peers."

Shinku Yuhi paused, leaving out the rest. If Kurenai's genjutsu talent was at 6,000, Hanekawa's was at least over 10,000. But this didn't mean her talent was lacking.

In fact, before meeting Hanekawa, Kurenai was the most talented genjutsu user he had encountered, excluding the Uchiha Clan. They only cared about activating their eyes to perform genjutsu.

"Alright, enough talk. Let's start practicing."

Shinku clapped his hands and said, "We'll begin with the most basic genjutsu, the Mist Servant Technique."

Mist Servant Technique is a D-rank Entry, designed to summon terrifying black phantoms to intimidate enemies. The black phantoms move slowly and lack offensive power, but their greatest advantage is that when attacked, they split apart. It's somewhat like a special version of the Shadow Clone Jutsu.

"Watch carefully and learn well."

Shinku slowed down his hand seals slightly. Soon, a humanoid shadow emerged from behind the sofa. Completely black, it exuded a chilling aura. Prepared, Hanekawa and Kurenai were not frightened. This genjutsu can only be used for surprise attacks.

"Your turn."

Shinku Yuhi dispelled the genjutsu, looking at them with anticipation. It had taken him a day to learn this genjutsu, but with Hanekawa and Kurenai's better talents, they might learn it in half a day.

Shinku Yuhi blinked in surprise. A humanoid shadow suddenly appeared in front of Hanekawa, making him feel as if he had fallen into a genjutsu himself. This speed exceeded his expectations.

"Darn it!" Kurenai looked at the empty space before her, showing a hint of frustration. Her talent was indeed not as strong as Hanekawa's. But she quickly pushed aside her sense of defeat and, after several attempts, successfully performed the Mist Servant Technique. Although the summoned black phantom lacked a human shape, it resembled some kind of monstrous creature.

"Kurenai, your talent is indeed better than mine."

Shinku Yuhi said with a face full of satisfaction. But Kurenai didn't feel happy at all. Comparisons reveal the imbalance; compared to Hanekawa, she lagged behind.

"Uncle Shinku, could you teach us a second genjutsu?"

Hanekawa asked as he looked at the newly surfaced Entry.

"Although you've already learned Mist Servant Technique, you're not yet proficient."

Shinku Yuhi said sternly, "Practice it for two days, and then I'll teach you a new genjutsu. Remember, don't rush it."

"Uncle Shinku, look."

Hanekawa clapped his hands, and another humanoid shadow appeared instantly.

"How... how is this possible?"

Shinku Yuhi's eyes widened.

"..." Kurenai was speechless for a moment. In such a short time, not only had he learned the jutsu, but he had also mastered it?

The proficiency of a jutsu is measured by its speed and power. Hanekawa's second execution was much faster than the first, reaching the maximum casting speed for the Mist Servant Technique.

As for the reason, he had a cheat.

[E-rank Ninjutsu Entry: Mist Servant Technique.]

[Trigger Condition: Successfully perform the jutsu.]

[Effect: The jutsu is automatically mastered.]

[Note: Has a synthesis route, three E-rank genjutsu Entries can be synthesized into a D-rank Entry Genjutsu Genin.]

Once the Entry was obtained, Hanekawa's mind was filled with a wealth of experience, as if he had practiced countless times.

"Your talent surpasses my imagination!"

Shinku Yuhi exclaimed in excitement. The Ninja World hadn't seen a reputable genjutsu master in a long time, as all the fame had been monopolized by the Uchiha Clan's Sharingan. But now, Hanekawa gave him hope; maybe one day.

As his disciple, the Yuhi household might gain fame, perhaps even become the Yuhi Clan.

"..." Hanekawa fell silent at the expression.

What should he say? That he would bring his talent to the Yuhi family?

"I'll teach you a second genjutsu now."

Shinku Yuhi took a deep breath and said, "Demonic Illusion: Hell Viewing Technique."

Hanekawa's eyes sparkled. This genjutsu was quite renowned in the original series, used by both Orochimaru and Kakashi Hatake.

Although still a D-rank Entry, its power far surpassed the Mist Servant Technique. It reveals the enemy's deepest fears, achieving a devastating mental impact.

After Hanekawa performed it once, a new Entry was successfully obtained.

[E-rank Ninjutsu Entry: Demonic Illusion: Hell Viewing Technique.]

[Trigger Condition: Successfully perform the jutsu.]

[Effect: The jutsu is automatically mastered.]

[Note: Has a synthesis route, three E-rank genjutsu Entries can be synthesized into a D-rank Entry Genjutsu Genin.]

Hanekawa took a deep breath.

With his current chakra reserves, casting three jutsu in a row had exhausted him significantly. This is also why the Ninja Academy initially only teaches the Three Basic Techniques.

But Hanekawa didn't stop and continued to have Shinku Yuhi teach him a third genjutsu. After all, he was close to synthesizing a new Entry.

Stopping midway is like pausing an action movie at a crucial moment. Without finishing it, there's a lack of fulfillment. With Shinku Yuhi recognizing his talent and seeing his remaining stamina, he agreed.

[E-rank Ninjutsu Entry: Demonic Illusion: Illusory Delicate Blossom Technique.]

[Trigger Condition: Successfully perform the jutsu.]

[Effect: The jutsu is automatically mastered.]

[Note: Has a synthesis route, three E-rank genjutsu Entries can be synthesized into a D-rank Entry Genjutsu Genin.]

Demonic Illusion: Illusory Delicate Blossom Technique allows the enemy to see dancing petals, thus obscuring their vision.

In effect, it's inferior to Demonic Illusion: Hell Viewing Technique, only useful for confusing sight.

Hanekawa, having nearly depleted his chakra, sat down to rest. His swift learning was due to talent and the low difficulty level of these three jutsu.

Kurenai, after witnessing the extraordinary scene, smiled wryly after a moment of silence.

This was the man of all men, the genius among geniuses.

How could she compete? She realized she was just an ordinary person after all.
