Married For Now

Chapter 5: KIM FAMILY’S CIRCUMSTANCES

[That morning…]

WHEN KIM Heedo woke up, he was already in the hospital.

Of course, as the grandson of Ilsung Group, he woke up in a VIP room.

"Son, you're finally awake."

It was Kim Dohan, his father, who greeted him first.

But his father wasn't alone.

Kim Haewon (his younger sister) and Kim Hanhae (his younger brother) were also there. The twins were high school sophomores.

They should be studying, so they didn't have to be here.

Of course, his mother— Kang Nari— was also present.

They all look worried about me.

"I lived, huh?" Kim Heedo joked to assure his family that he was fine. But no one even cracked a smile. "I'm really fine, my dear family."

His father let out a deep sigh. "Should I call a shaman and make them do a ritual to get rid of our family's bad luck?"

"I'm not comfortable with the esteemed shaman that father-in-law trusts, so let's call a different shaman," his mother said worriedly. "Our children should at least be safe from the curse."

"Eomma, what are you saying?" Kim Haewon complained lightly. "My oppas and I can't live without you and Abeoji~"

"Haewon is right, Eomma," Kim Hanhae said. "We should get rid of the curse as a family."

"Aww. Our children are so precious, honey."

"You're right, honey— and it's all because they have a wonderful mother like you."

I'm glad my family members are getting along as usual.

While Heedo's family was busy comforting each other, he checked for his injuries.

Aw, I broke my arm.

"As you can see, you have a cast because you broke your left arm. Thank goodness it isn't your dominant arm," his father said when he noticed that Heedo was checking his injuries. "You have stitches on your forehead because the restaurant's signage fell on you, and that was also why you were knocked out. And you got those cuts from the shreds of broken glasses that hit you during the explosion."

Ah, right.

Heedo remembered hearing a loud explosion before everything went black. "What happened, Abeoji?"

"It was a gas explosion," his father explained. "The poor restaurant owner suffered second-degree burns. Most of the staff and customers were injured badly. Fortunately, you just entered the restaurant when the explosion happened. We can say you still got lucky. The doctors also said you'd recover quickly since you're an Alpha."

Alphas had sturdier and healthier bodies compared to others.

So, my broken arm will probably heal in just a week or two.

Thank goodness his bad luck only gave him a broken arm that would heal quickly because of his Alpha genes.

Maybe I owe it to someone?

"I probably got lucky because Park Sohee Hyung already agreed to marry me."

None of his family members looked surprised by Heedo's good news.

They probably know that I met Park Sohee Hyung last night since I called our lawyer.

"Son, are you sure you really want to marry Park Sohee?" his mother asked worriedly. "We don't know if he's a good person."

"Eomma, if Park Sohee Hyung isn't a good person, he would have taken advantage of Grandfather's offer three years ago."

"Even so, you're still too young to get married. You're still a baby…"

His father nodded eagerly in agreement with his mother's funny claim.

I suppose my siblings and I will always be babies to them.

"Eomma, Abeoji, Hanhae-ya, Haewon-ah," Heedo said, addressing his family members one by one. "I will marry Park Sohee for the sake of our family. I'd rather make this sacrifice than watch you get hurt again. I'm sorry, but you can't change my mind regarding this issue."

His mother and father exchanged worried glances.

Well, my parents can be overprotective— but they know how stubborn I am.

"Hyung, is that person pretty?"

"Park Sohee Hyung?" Heedo tilted his head to one side. "Well, Omegas are usually prettier than Alphas and Betas, so it's a given that Park Sohee Hyung is pretty. But he could use a little makeover and a better skincare routine."

Although Park Sohee was pretty, it was obvious that he had been neglecting himself.

It can't be helped since Sohee Hyung is in a difficult position at the moment.

"Why does it matter if this person is pretty or not? He just has to be decent enough not to embarrass our family," Kim Haewon said, pouting. "Heedo Oppa, it's just a contract marriage, right? I'm still rooting for you and Junsu Oppa— mmf!"

Kim Hanhae suddenly covered Kim Haewon's mouth with his hand.

Thank you, little bro.

"Haewon-ah, Heedo-ya, don't worry too much about this big brother of yours," Heedo assured his twin younger siblings. "I'm not only doing this for our family— I'm also doing this for myself." He smiled reassuringly at his family. "We all want to live longer, right?"

"YOUNG MASTER, I deeply apologize for failing to protect you."

Hmm?

Kim Heedo was quite surprised when Shin Kang— his secretary-slash-driver-slash-bodyguard— bowed to him deeply.

When his family left the room, this ahjussi came and suddenly apologized so seriously.

"Ahjussi, raise your head."

"Yes, Young Master."

Shin Kang, who was about to follow him inside the restaurant after parking the car, also got hurt during the gas explosion.

But, thankfully, the old man only had minor wounds.

"Ahjussi, it was an accident— you have nothing to apologize for," Heedo said, trying to sound as gentle as possible. "Are you alright?"

"Yes, Young Master. I've received proper treatment at the same hospital."

"Very well."

Shin Kang still looked guilty, and so…

"Ahjussi, if you want to make it up to me, then protect me if my bride throws a tantrum because I came late," Heedo joked in order to put Shin Kang at ease. "You should take my side, okay?"

Shin Kang smiled and nodded. "Of course, Young Master."

He just nodded since he was already distracted when he received a message from Yang Jaewon— his childhood friend.

<"Lee Junsu's number is still the same, so he probably blocked you.">

Haaah.

Heedo smiled bitterly. "At least I won't feel that guilty about marrying Park Sohee Hyung now."
