Marrying Unohana Retsu from Bleach

Chapter 3: Chapter 2: The Hundred-Year-Old Lolita Named Saitō Furuofushi

"Araki, are you really planning to come to the Seireitei and join the Gotei 13 with me?!"

Saitō Furuofushi.

Her personality was... eccentric, to put it mildly. Arrogant at times and often baffling to those around her.

She had the appearance of a young girl, small and delicate, easily mistaken for a child.

Her true age, however, was a mystery. Araki was certain she was far older than she appeared. They had known each other for decades, and she had looked much the same even then.

Araki estimated she was at least a century old.

Yes, Saitō Furuofushi was a legal loli, over a hundred years old.

She also held a high position: she was one of the captains of the first generation of the Gotei 13.

This first generation of the Gotei 13 had acted in the name of protecting the Soul Society, but they were a brutal force.

With absolute strength and violence, they intimidated the entire Soul Society. They were the most notorious and ruthless group in history, a true band of killers.

As a member of this first Gotei 13 and one of its captains, Saitō Furuofushi naturally possessed a highly eccentric personality and a killer's instinct, relishing the slaughter of her opponents.

Yet, at this moment, Saitō Furuofushi only felt excitement.

It might have been an illusion, but the bland, clear soup noodles in her bowl seemed to taste much better. Even the thin slices of meat seemed more substantial.

Saitō Furuofushi slurped down the rest of her noodles and asked Araki again, "Are you really going to the Seireitei with me?!"

"More or less," he replied, tapping his chin thoughtfully.

He was planning to go to the Seireitei, but not necessarily with Saitō Furuofushi. He had his own reasons.

Over a century had passed. It was time to see some people again.

"Great! When are you leaving? How about now?" Her eyes lit up.

"No, I plan to leave in three days." He shook his head slightly. "I still have some things to take care of in Rukongai, and I need to sell my ramen shop. It's a century-old business; I'm a little reluctant to just abandon it."

"Three days?" Saitō's initial enthusiasm dimmed slightly. "Okay! I'll be waiting for you in the Seireitei in three days.

Come find me at the 6th Division. I'll have a surprise for you~" She puffed out her chest. "But don't get the wrong idea; it's not because of our history. As captain of the 6th Division, I have a responsibility to recruit talented individuals for the Soul Society."

She clearly believed he was worthy of a high-ranking position. In her mind, with Araki's strength, he was fully qualified to be a captain.

However, since all the captain positions were currently filled, the vice captain position of the 6th Division—which had remained vacant for as long as anyone could remember—was being specially reserved for him. It was her surprise.

"A surprise?" Araki smiled. "I have a surprise for you too."

Saito had clearly misunderstood. Araki was going to the Soul Society, but he hadn't said anything about joining the 6th Division.

Explaining would be too much trouble. Knowing Saitō's personality, if she knew he was going to the Gotei 13 but not the 6th Division, she would make a huge fuss.

So, Araki simply nodded. "See you in the Seireitei in three days." He notably didn't specify a meeting at the 6th Division.

"Okay. See you in the Seireitei in three days," Saitō replied, oblivious. She then pulled an eye patch from her pocket and covered her left eye.

Araki sighed inwardly. He'd healed her eye years ago, back when he was younger and... more impulsive.

It was also the beginning of his complicated relationship with her.

Saitō wore the eye patch for one reason: she was a chūnibyō, even after a century. She genuinely believed it made her look cool and mysterious, imagining the members of the 6th Division would be awestruck by her "style."

"I'm leaving." Saitō straightened her clothes and headed for the door, not forgetting to reiterate, "Remember your words."

"Good luck," Araki replied.

"Hmph." Saitō turned and left.

Outside the shop, two Shinigami from the 6th Division were arguing.

"You go in."

"No, you go in."

"I went last time."

"You tricked me! You want me to go in alone?!"

Their voices grew louder, their tempers flaring.

"Are you challenging me to a duel to the death?"

"Bring it on! You think I'm afraid?"

They reached for their Zanpakutō. A duel between Shinigami was about to begin. The members of the first generation Gotei 13, being essentially a group of killers, were far more prone to violence than the later generations.

"Are you two 'idiots' and 'baldies' looking for me?!" A hoarse, oppressive voice came from behind them. There was a hint of weariness in it.

The two Shinigami froze. They knew that voice.

"Captain—" They instantly shifted from aggressive to subservient.

Thump! Thump!

Saitō kicked them both to the ground, a "reward" for their incompetence.

"Alright, you two. Back to the 6th Division." She said her mood seemingly improved. She then strode off towards the Seireitei.

The two Shinigami, now sporting matching face prints from Saitō's kicks, exchanged glances. "Doesn't the captain seem... happier today?"

"It does seem that way."

"Do you think it has something to do with the guy in the ramen shop?"

"Shhh! That's the captain's private business! As long as she stays in the division, we should be grateful to the Soul King."

"True..." They sighed, used to their captain's eccentricities.

"Why aren't you two following me?!" She suddenly turned back, glaring.

"Coming, Captain!" They scrambled to their feet and followed her.

One of them whispered, "Captain, I have to tell you something. You've been going to Rukongai too often lately. Captain Commander Yamamoto knows. I heard from the 1st Division that he's not happy about it."

"What?! That cross-scarred Yamamoto should just worry about the Soul Society. Why is he meddling in my affairs?! Does he have nothing better to do? Doesn't he know that people who meddle in other people's affairs lose their hair? He'll be bald soon."

"Captain! You can't call him that."

"I just said it."

"The Captain-Commander isn't someone you can joke about; fortunately, no one else heard."

"Hmph. Fine. I don't plan on leaving the Seireitei for now anyway." Saitō muttered. "Besides, before he comes to the 6th Division, I need to whip this place into shape; I don't want him laughing at me when he becomes the vice-captain."

"Vice-captain?" The two Shinigami perked up. "Captain, do you already have someone in mind? Could it be... me?"

"You'll find out in three days. It's a secret~" She grinned and vanished using Shunpo (Flash Step).

"Captain, wait for us!" The two Shinigami followed suit.

Back at the ramen shop, Araki sighed. "That girl..." He closed the shop.

He'd been in Rukongai long enough. It was time to return.

He went to the back room and, after confirming no one was around, whispered, "System panel, open."
