Chapter 71: Chapter 70: That Old Boy

"What do you mean, 'carry on as you were, don't mind us'?"

Hu Liena was speechless. Here they were, sweating it out while hunting soul beasts, and this guy had casually set up a barbecue stand, grilling meat. The tantalizing aroma was even wafting over to them.

The rich fragrance of grilled meat combined with perfectly blended seasonings was so enticing that even Hu Liena couldn't help but swallow a mouthful of saliva. This smell was just too outrageous.

"They've noticed us," Xiao Yan said, nodding slightly in Hu Liena's direction.

"No problem. Let's keep eating. It's not like they can take us on anyway."

Han Yu chuckled. With Xiao Yan, a Dou Emperor, present, even a Titled Douluo wouldn't stand a chance against them. Unless a god-level figure showed up, they had nothing to worry about.

Besides, Han Yu himself had formidable combat strength. While his offensive power might be slightly weaker than Xiao Yan's, he was still at the Titled Douluo level. There was no reason for them to panic.

With that, the four of them continued feasting on the roasted fish and meat skewers. Barbecuing truly was one of the best ways to cook meat. When paired with Han Yu's special blend of spices, the aroma could travel as far as 700 meters. The level of deliciousness was simply unimaginable.

"What do we do now?" someone asked Hu Liena.

Hu Liena thought for a moment, then pointed to two people and said, "Carry Elder Ling. We'll go seek help from those people. With the reputation of the Spirit Hall, they wouldn't dare refuse us."

She believed the group would definitely be able to help. From such a long distance—roughly six or seven hundred meters away—they were leisurely barbecuing. Ordinary people couldn't possibly pull that off.

Moreover, one of them had just shouted across the distance, and their voice was still crystal clear despite the several hundred meters between them. That alone was enough to prove they possessed exceptional strength to control their voice so precisely.

"Hurry up! If we disturb this beast any further, it won't let us go easily. Getting someone to share the burden is better than nothing," Soul Ling said.

However, this move seemed quite underhanded. The group didn't even know these strangers or their strength, yet they were planning to drag a hostile and powerful soul beast toward them. It was undeniably putting the other party in danger.

The disciples of Spirit Hall were well aware of this but chose not to voice their concerns. For them, survival was the priority. A soul beast over 5,000 years old was far beyond their ability to handle.

"Hey, hey, hey! Why are they running toward us?" Ace exclaimed as he noticed Hu Liena's group approaching.

"Judging by the situation, that old boy couldn't handle the soul beast and decided to lure it over here in desperation," Xiao Yan remarked calmly.

His way of addressing people didn't surprise Han Yu. Xiao Yan was at least a thousand years old by now, while Soul Ling was probably no older than eighty. Calling him "old boy" wasn't exactly wrong.

The Azure Water Dragon Serpent, possessing intelligence, had figured out Hu Liena's plan. It knew that the two parties were strangers to each other, and Han Yu's group might not intervene to help.

In the abyssal maw of the beast, water began to gather, forming a massive water sphere within seconds. It launched the sphere fiercely at Hu Liena's group.

The humans, none taller than 1.9 meters, were like ants beneath this immense attack.

Seeing this, both Xiao Yan and Ace glanced at Han Yu. They knew the group couldn't withstand the serpent's attack. The elder in their party was injured, and under such an assault, even if they survived, they'd be gravely wounded.

At that point, they'd be sitting ducks for the Azure Water Dragon Serpent. Either way, they were doomed.

Xiao Yan and Ace didn't know these people. While helping them wasn't out of the question, they had agreed to a condition before entering this world: unless Han Yu spoke up, they wouldn't act on their own. They had taken this promise to heart.

After all, to them, Hu Liena's group were mere strangers, while Han Yu was someone worth befriending and certainly not someone they wanted to offend. The choice was obvious.

"Do you think they can withstand the dragon's attack?"

Eriya couldn't bear to watch. Among the four of them, she was the only one who had never witnessed the brutal life-and-death struggles between humans. Watching a group of people being slaughtered by the Azure Water Dragon Serpent was a shock that threatened to shatter her worldview.

"This is their own doing. Hunting soul beasts inherently carries immense risks. Dying in the process is nothing out of the ordinary," Han Yu said calmly.

Watching one's kind perish in front of them was a completely different feeling from slaughtering livestock. But Han Yu felt nothing—he had long grown accustomed to such sights.

Sensing someone staring at him, Han Yu turned to see Eriya fixing him with a pleading gaze. Her eyes carried a hint of desperation. After a moment's thought, Han Yu spoke to her seriously.

"I hope you understand that the path of cultivation is inherently fraught with danger. They wanted to kill this Azure Water Dragon Serpent, so it's only fair that the serpent has the right to fight back. If they are weaker and get killed, they can only blame their own misfortune. I need you to grasp this reality. When choosing your soul rings in the future, don't act recklessly just because a soul beast's level is high."

After this, Han Yu added, "Don't kill it completely. Leave the final blow for Eriya."

This was directed at Xiao Yan and Ace. Hearing that Han Yu had permitted them to act, Ace chuckled, rolled his neck, and said, "Got it!"

In an instant, the two of them shot forward like arrows, appearing over a hundred meters away in the blink of an eye.

"Fire Fist!"

Ace clenched his fist, and flames engulfed his right arm. The surrounding temperature surged as he roared, and a massive column of fire clashed with the overwhelming water sphere.

Ace grinned, clenching his fist tighter. The temperature of the fire shot up several levels, and within seconds, the immense water sphere was completely evaporated.

The Azure Water Dragon Serpent was visibly startled that someone had interfered—and so decisively at that. Realizing the situation was becoming increasingly unpredictable, it decided to stop holding back. Any further delay could lead to real danger.

The temperature of the surroundings, initially elevated by Ace's Fire Fist, suddenly plummeted. The stark temperature contrast made Hu Liena and her group shiver involuntarily, even sneezing as they looked back.

The Azure Water Dragon Serpent let out a long, echoing roar as its body became entwined with waves of azure light. The once-overwhelming water sphere now multiplied into more than a dozen, their deep, pure color betraying their terrifying power.

"This is bad. It's preparing a major attack!"

Hu Liena muttered under her breath. Hearing her warning, the group quickened their pace. However, the extreme cold in the air forced them to use their soul power to both maintain their speed and resist the chill, significantly slowing them down.

"Roar!"

A deafening roar shook the heavens as the dozen water spheres transformed into arrows and shot forth at incredible speed—far faster than the earlier attack. It seemed the previous water sphere's leisurely pace was merely the serpent toying with them.

"Yan-ge, it's your turn," Ace said with a grin, stepping aside instead of acting.

"Don't worry. It won't get away," Xiao Yan replied with a faint smile.
