Marvel: I Can Summon

Chapter 20: Chapter 20: Kyle's Fury

Kyle looked at Phil Coulson with a grim expression, patting him on the shoulder in an attempt to comfort him. He then tried to lighten the mood, "It's not a bad thing to have a lot of superheroes around, just like... Captain America."

Phil Coulson, still visibly despondent, reacted with displeasure at Kyle's comparison, "Captain America is Captain America, Tony Stark is just a playboy, can they really be compared?"

Kyle suddenly recalled that Phil Coulson was a staunch fan of Captain America. Compared to the current Tony Stark, it did indeed seem somewhat disrespectful to Captain America.

"But everyone has room to grow, right?" Kyle said with a smile.

It was hard to believe that this playboy would one day save half the universe.

"I hope so..." Phil Coulson replied, his despair still evident.

Moreover, having botched two assignments in a row, he anticipated Director Fury's scathing criticism; he probably wouldn't get a vacation for the next year...

...

After the press conference.

Leaving aside the crestfallen Phil Coulson and Rhodey, Tony Stark was positively radiant.

"Kyle, believe me, after today, Stark Industries' stock is going to skyrocket. You should sell off those short positions in Stark Industries as soon as possible and maybe even buy more shares. But I suspect it'll be tough, now that the whole world knows Stark Industries' stock is on the rise—who's going to sell?"

Tony proclaimed triumphantly.

In some respects, Tony certainly had a sharp eye. Kyle remembered how, back in Afghanistan, Tony had suggested he short sell Stark Industries' shares, a suggestion Kyle had rejected.

Looking at Tony, Kyle smiled and said:

"Oh, by the way, Tony, I forgot to mention something. This morning, I sold off all my short positions in Stark Industries and then leveraged that to buy Stark Industries stock tenfold. I now hold a total of 15% of the shares."

Tony's expression of pride froze instantly upon hearing Kyle's words.

"15%?! So, you'll be the second-largest shareholder of Stark Industries in the future?!"

"Yes, Tony. As the CEO of Stark Industries, you'll have to work hard to help me make money," Kyle remarked, patting Tony on the shoulder with a hint of "you've got a long road ahead" in his tone.

"Damn! I don't know why, suddenly I'm not feeling so happy," Tony said, a little downcast.

"You're not happy? Well, I'm ecstatic."

At that moment, Kyle's phone rang. The caller ID displayed Wanda's name. He answered.

"Kyle, where are you?"

Wanda's voice was tinged with tears, panic, and helplessness.

Kyle's face instantly darkened, but he kept his voice steady as he asked urgently, "What happened, Wanda?"

"It's Pietro. He's dying."

Upon hearing Wanda's words, Kyle's pupils constricted.

With Pietro's speed, accidents were practically impossible. This could only mean foul play.

Wanda and Pietro were the closest people in the world to Kyle. Hearing this news unleashed a surge of suppressed rage within him.

The air around Kyle crackled with murderous intent, the temperature dropping perceptibly.

Tony felt a chill run down his spine as he looked at Kyle. He seemed less like a person and more like a primal force.

He wanted to speak, but found himself unable to utter a word.

"Wanda, where are you right now?" Kyle demanded urgently.

"I'm at home with Pietro. I don't know what to do, Kyle. Where are you?" Wanda's voice trembled with confusion.

Kyle didn't respond to Wanda. In the next moment, he vanished from Tony's sight.

The pressure in the room lifted as soon as Kyle departed.

Phil Coulson burst in through the door, seeing only Tony. He hurriedly inquired, "What just happened?"

Phil Coulson, an experienced S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, was no stranger to the aura of impending danger.

But what he had sensed just now was beyond anything he had ever encountered. Neither Natasha Romanoff nor Hawkeye had ever exuded such a powerful aura.

"I have no idea."

"Kyle answered a call just now, his expression turned grim, and then he disappeared," Tony explained, frowning.

Phil Coulson nodded, saying no more.

He stepped aside to make a call to Director Fury.

Ever since discovering Kyle's super abilities, S.H.I.E.L.D. had compiled extensive profiles on his character.

According to the profiles, Kyle was lazy, laid-back, with a sense of justice but also a penchant for vengeance and a disregard for the law.

The results weren't entirely reassuring, but they were somewhat comforting.

However, the unbridled surge of murderous intent Kyle had just unleashed indicated that something serious had occurred. Phil Coulson sighed inwardly. He hoped Kyle wouldn't cause too much trouble.

Provoking anyone was risky, but provoking this particular "star of calamity"...

Phil Coulson mourned for those whose luck was about to run out, hoping they would be reincarnated as better people in their next lives.

...

Long Island villa.

Seeing Kyle suddenly appear, Wanda cried out, "Kyle, Pietro is dying! What can we do to save him?"

Pietro lay on the sofa, deathly pale, blood staining his upper body where a bullet had struck his lungs.

But he was still alive, which relieved Kyle.

"Leave it to me. Don't worry, Wanda. Pietro will be fine," Kyle reassured her, turning his attention to treating Pietro.

As Kyle approached, Pietro grasped his hand tightly.

Forcing a smile, Pietro said weakly, "Kyle, thank you for looking after me all these years. I'm dying, and I can't repay you. If I have another life, I'll repay you then. And Wanda has always loved you. Take care of her in the future."

Kyle didn't waste time with words. Using psychokinesis, he extracted the bullet lodged in Pietro's lung and removed it. Then, he crushed a fairy bean, feeding it to Pietro.

Beside him, Wanda wept as she heard Pietro's words, holding his hand tightly.

"Pietro, you'll be fine. Kyle said you'll be fine," she sobbed.

The fairy bean's effects were potent. Within moments of ingestion, Pietro's wounds began to heal, his pallor giving way to a healthy flush.

Pietro, the joker, sensed the change in his condition. Just as he was about to assure everyone he was fine, he had another thought. Rolling his eyes playfully, he feigned weakness and said, "Wanda... before I go, could you call me 'brother'?"
