Marvel: Omniversal Clones ( Tensura )

Chapter 5: Firehair

Adam and Highwalker walked through the forest and reached a cave dwelling. Upon entering, Adam noticed individuals who looked distinct from one another physically.

Most of them looked completely distinct from one another. Some had a head resembling a goat, and others, a bat. Only one of the members of the Tribe of No Fear resembled a human.

"This is the new member of our tribe," said Highwalker, handing out the floating, one-eyed child to one of the members of the tribe. The other members looked at the baby in curiosity, while some gazed at Adam with vigilance.

"He will stay with us for a while. You don't have to fear; he is just like us," said Highwalker, as Adam walked in front of him and demonstrated his fire powers.

Upon seeing Adam's hands ignite in flames, one of the members, who had scaled red skin, came in front of him and lit up his own hand in fire, showing he could do the same.

The Tribe of No Fear relaxed their vigilance after Adam's demonstration and shifted their attention toward the baby.

"I didn't ask if you had a name. Would you like me to give you one?" asked Highwalker.

"My name is Adam," replied Adam.

"Adam, what do you think about joining our tribe?" asked Highwalker.

"I will stay for a while. I can't promise after that," replied Adam. While this conversation was going on in their heads, they heard an echo of someone walking in the cave. After hearing that, Adam's body ignited in full force, lighting up the cave.

Adam quickly found the culprit behind the noise. It was the red-haired girl who had run away from the couple hours ago. She had followed them somehow without both him and Highwalker noticing her.

The girl seemed frozen in place after being caught red-handed and contemplated running once again. Before she could dash off into the distance, Highwalker spoke to her again.

"Child, you have nothing to fear. No one here will harm you. We are just like you," said Highwalker, while Adam reduced the intensity of his flames. Meanwhile, the members of the Tribe of No Fear looked at the red-haired child with curiosity.

The child stood still, conflicted about what action to take. In the end, she made a decision and walked down from the cave wall, along with her wolf companions, to stand in front of Highwalker and Adam.

"Child, do you see them? Just like you, they are different," said Highwalker to the child as he spoke telepathically, surprising her with the absurdity of him speaking without moving his mouth.

"Are you surprised, child, that I can talk to you in your mind? Just like you communicate with those wolves, I can speak to others with my mind and make objects float," said Highwalker, while using his powers to make a rock float in the air.

The child nodded in understanding. Even though she lacked knowledge of language, she could comprehend Highwalker because of his telepathic communication.

"Child, what do you think about joining our tribe—a family of outcasts?" asked Highwalker.

A child whose only memories of family were a pack of wolves couldn't resist the idea of a family that was different like her. She agreed with aggressive nodding.

"Then, child, from now on, you are a member of the Tribe of No Fear. You are Firehair," said Highwalker.

That's how a new member joined the Tribe of No Fear. Days passed after Firehair's arrival. Adam spent his time learning to control his powers while Highwalker taught Firehair the budding abilities of telepathy and telekinesis that seemed to emerge from her.

This relative peace came to an end one day. Adam was sitting on a rock, contemplating what to do next, while Firehair was playing in front of him, making a rock float in the air. This tranquil atmosphere was disturbed as Firehair fell to the ground, held her head with her arms, and screamed in pain.

Adam hurried to comfort Firehair, who, struggling, conveyed what was causing her pain.

"The tribes—they are coming. They know we live here," said Firehair, using her budding telepathy.

Adam hurried out of the cave to see if what Firehair had said was true. Upon exiting, he noticed a congregation of humans moving in their direction.

"Warn Highwalker. Take the other members of the tribe to hide," Adam instructed Firehair before moving in the direction of the approaching tribes.

"I will hold the humans off for a while. If they don't retreat, escape from the cave—it is no longer safe to stay here," said Adam.

Adam and the xenophobic tribes met in the middle. Upon seeing Adam, there were calls for his murder among the tribes. The members of the tribe held torches, spears, and stone weapons.

Meanwhile, Firehair ran through the rocks of the cave, searching for Highwalker. She found him along with the other members of the tribe.

"The tribes—they are coming here. They're angry. We must leave," informed Firehair telepathically, panicked.

"Where is Adam?" asked Highwalker.

"He is confronting the mob. He said he would hold them back," said Firehair.

"How can he stop them when they can't understand him? No—I will stop them before anyone gets hurt," said Highwalker, floating outward from the cave.

Before Highwalker could reach Adam, he was met by a mob of humans surrounding the cave. Both Adam and Highwalker were confronted by angry mobs in different places—Adam at the burned clearing and Highwalker at the cave entrance.

The frenzied mob threw stones at Adam, but the stones passed through his body without harming him. This newfound ability had been unearthed through his practice of his powers. He had discovered that he could phase through matter, control animals' bodies, and read their surface thoughts. Adam also found something interesting, as Apex had mentioned: both Highwalker and Firehair could only communicate with him by reading the thoughts he projected outward using psionic powers that came from being part Mummudrai. However, they couldn't successfully enter his mind, as the "Chamber of Adam" seemed to shield it.

Adam manipulated fire into a wall in front of him, slowly pushing the mob backward as they attempted to attack him with stone weapons and spears. One particularly angry tribesman ran into the fire without fear and was promptly engulfed in flames, burning alive. Seeing one of their own die before them at the hands of what they deemed an aberrant, the mob grew more enraged and charged the fire with reckless abandon.
