Chapter 104: Marvel Scientist Becomes God, Ch 68.1
"Isn't this better? Let humans continue to harm mutants. The more they are hurt, the more united they will become, and our strength will grow even greater," the White Queen laughed heartily.
Mystique suddenly realized that trying to persuade the woman in front of her was a foolish dream. The tragic experiences of the former Queen had made her completely disregard human life.
"You are all a bunch of lunatics!" Mystique exclaimed angrily as she left. She didn't even try to convince Magneto. From what she knew of Erik, he would never waver in his resolve. Just like the former Sun King, the current Magneto was extremely radical and held a deep hatred for humanity, straying further from the ideals of his youth, leaving only ambition and coldness in their wake. Mystique felt confused about the future of mutants; she was disappointed in Magneto and indifferent to Professor X's unwavering compromise with humans. She didn't know what path to take. Lacking the courage and ability to forge a new way, she sought a different leader. If she couldn't find one, she was prepared to retreat and live for herself.
"No matter what, I must stop this crazy action. I need to find Charles!" Mystique thought to herself.
For Mystique, escaping Magneto's surveillance was quite easy. She could transform into anyone's appearance, and by changing her form, she swiftly shook off the watchful eyes, then took a flight to New York, where she met with Charles and shared Magneto's insane plan.
To her surprise, Professor X remained calm. He simply said, "It seems Dr. Ye's predictions were correct; Erik's machine can only create failures!"
"You already knew?" Mystique exclaimed in astonishment.
"Yes, Raven," the professor replied with a slight smile. "Dr. Ye analyzed the significant flaws in Erik's invention. If used at the summit, it would result in a massacre."
"Indeed, you were right," Mystique nodded. "What should we do, Charles?"
"Our original plan was to stop Erik's atrocities at the summit, but now that you're here, we have a better approach."
"Oh? What is this better plan?" Mystique quickly asked.
"I want you to take us to Magneto's lair and take out that machine," the professor said.
Phoenix hesitated. Wasn't the plan to dismantle Magneto's conspiracy at the summit and show the world that mutants can have both good and evil? Why was the plan changing now?
Just as she was about to speak, she heard the professor's voice in her mind, "Jean, don't reveal our plan just yet; we need Mystique on our side right now."
Phoenix was momentarily puzzled but obediently remained silent.
"That's indeed a good plan," Mystique agreed with the professor's idea. This way, they wouldn't have to take risks at the summit. After all, Magneto was immensely powerful, and the X-Men were not a match for him.
"Alright, let's plan to bring a few people along, but for safety, I can't take too many," Mystique said.
