Marvel: Scientist Becomes God [R18]

Chapter 2: Marvel, Scientist Becomes God, Ch 2

Two days later, Ye Hai began working at the Osborn Industrial Building as an assistant to Dr. Connors.

"Ye, come over here," Dr. Connors called him over, pointing to a girl next to him. "This lovely young lady is Gwen Stacy, another one of my assistants. However, she is also a high school student and typically only works with me during her breaks. So, Ye, your task is to take over her work."

"Alright, Dr. Connors!"

Ye Hai felt a bit disappointed; how much professional capability could a high school student have? It seemed that he would be stuck doing some trivial tasks.

Dr. Connors smiled, "Ye, don't underestimate Gwen. She's a talented young woman with a unique insight into biology. She's helped me resolve some difficult research issues."

"Oh?"

Ye Hai looked at the girl with new eyes. As the female lead from the original story, she surely had her merits. He vaguely remembered that in the original narrative, Gwen had significant authority in the lab, indicating she was someone Dr. Connors valued.

Ye Hai extended his hand and said with a smile, "Miss Stacy, I look forward to working with you!"

Gwen, with her golden hair and blue eyes, wore a stylish women's trench coat that accentuated her curves. Apart from a slight youthful appearance on her face, she exuded a mature and confident aura.

Gwen shook his hand and cheerfully said, "I've heard about you from Dr. Connors! Do your best!"

Her tone was reminiscent of a seasoned employee, which made Ye Hai chuckle softly. Dr. Connors laughed as well and said, "Alright, you two are acquainted now. Gwen, please show Ye around to familiarize him with the environment and work."

"Sure, Dr. Connors!"

After Dr. Connors left, Gwen looked Ye Hai up and down and asked, "Ye, are you Japanese?"

Irritated, Ye Hai replied, "No, I'm from China, but I'm of Chinese descent!"

Gwen apologized, "I see that the rumors about people from China disliking Japanese people are true. Sorry about that! Let me take you to see the specimens!"

Gwen swiftly led Ye Hai through the hallways, her movements sharp and efficient. She seemed like a bit of a bookworm.

"Dr. Connors is a leading scientist in the field of herpetology. He is very dedicated to repairing his right arm, believing that integrating animal genes can help him recover. However, accomplishing this requires many steps, so he created a life tree!" Gwen pointed to a virtual display, "This is the life tree of Osborn Industries."

Before him, a complex three-dimensional representation appeared, resembling a tree whose branches were linked to various spiders, which seemed to scurry around as if alive.

Ye Hai marveled at the scene. In his own world, virtual imaging technology was still under research, while the Earth in this universe had already integrated it into high-end scientific endeavors.

"I'll take you to the biological reaction room next."

"Alright!"

After touring some of Osborn's facilities, Gwen began introducing Ye Hai to his work, which involved checking the data of test samples during cell fusion.

The data was incredibly tedious and complex; one needed solid professional knowledge and sufficient patience to handle it. Additionally, a good amount of creativity and insight was necessary to refine the data.

Ye Hai possessed substantial expertise thanks to his predecessor's memories, but when it came to creativity and intuition, he felt inferior to the girl beside him.

Noticing Ye Hai's unease, Gwen said, "What's wrong? This is basic stuff. If you can't keep up, you'll disappoint Dr. Connors!"

Being looked down upon by a girl left Ye Hai with a headache. He remembered that his system still had 100 points of scientific value available. He then thought, "System, use 10 points of scientific value to activate the secondary brain domain."

"Yes... Ding! Secondary brain domain activated, consuming 10 scientific value points. Host has 90 scientific value points remaining."

In an instant, Ye Hai's brain neurons were stimulated, accelerating his thinking dramatically. His surroundings suddenly appeared brighter, revealing many details he used to overlook. He realized that he had now activated 20% of his brain domain, a state that could be maintained for 24 hours.

There were ten levels of brain domain activation in the system, ranging from one to ten. The first level activated 10%, the second level 20%, and so forth, with the ninth level achieving 90% and the tenth level reaching 100%. Activating the brain domain required the consumption of scientific values—1 point for the first level per 24 hours, 10 points for the second level, and 100 points for the third, increasing exponentially, with an astronomical number needed for the highest level.

Now, having activated the secondary brain domain at 20%, he felt almost photographic memory capability. His cognitive abilities had become akin to a supercomputer. The complex experimental data and formulas that once seemed daunting appeared as simple arithmetic to him, easily solved with a fleeting thought, followed by continuous calculations yielding different results.

He rapidly navigated through the computer screen, managing to solve page after page of data with just a glance. In the end, he found himself accelerating further—work that would typically take Gwen a week to finish, he completed in just over ten minutes.

"What did you say? You've finished?"

Upon hearing that Ye Hai had completed his data organization, Gwen's expression darkened. Who did he think he was, finishing so easily? It seemed he was treating this like a game!
