Chapter 18- Limitless Technique
“Howard, can you shut up for a second?”
“ow rude, but sure.”
"Well, I'm not a scientist; I only know basic science and want to be a real scientist."
“This whole assistantship thing, were you serious?”
“That's why I'm here.”
Howard looked at me for a moment and at Peggy, who was still standing behind me making sure I didn't run away.
“I don't really need an assistant, but I can do a test for you.”
“Let's pass the test and in return, I'll protect you if someone attacks you while you're with me, so I'm sort of a bodyguard and an assistant, but I'll tell you upfront that I'm not someone who's going to work for an intern's wage.”
As soon as Howard remembered my ability to fight, he reached out and grabbed my hand. At the same time, two system screens appeared in front of me.
[ Please stay out of sight to collect your reward ]

“Are you sure you really want to be his assistant?”
Peggy didn't understand what I was doing and asked me this question. When I told her that I really wanted to work with Howard, she told me that she needed to talk to someone and walked away from me.
“So Howard, what's the plan now?”
“Well, I'm going to have a big celebration tonight, but first I have to tidy up around here. I think you came here with some friends, you can go and spend some time with them if you want. Just be back here in an hour.”
Steve is probably doing some kind of forgery to enlist in the military right now, and Bucky is trying to convince him. And Peggy must be talking to the people in the earpiece about how I'm no longer a target. I'm hoping so. Howard's an army scientist and I'm going to be his assistant, which means I'm now an army man.
Hmm poor Bucky, he must have been pissed when all of a sudden both me and Steve left the group.
“An hour huh? Well, I guess I'll go get some dinner and come back. Call me if you need any help.”
“I call you?”
Uh, that's right, there were no cell phones in this day or age, only landline phones.
Howard, fortunately, didn't press the issue and pulled out a piece of paper with his home phone number and work phone number and handed it to me.
[ Congratulations, you have successfully completed your first series of missions, the system is being upgraded to the second level. ]
[ Estimated upgrade time 1 year ]
[ Activating your mission that will be active during the upgrade ]
Upgrade? What the hell? It seems like the powers I have now can protect me, but they can't. Eternals are roaming around right now, celestials and hundreds of warrior races all over space.
What if the reality I'm in isn't the reality of the movies, but an alternate future...
What if...
[ Please calm down, sir. ]
[ The reality you know and the reality you're in are the same. ]
You're finally talking to me.
[ You have a new time-limited permanent mission. ]
[ Mission location : Undetermined ]
[ Mission time : Estimated one year ]
[ Mission information : Protect Howard Stark during the system upgrade ]
[ Mission reward : One non-leveled item draw ticket or one non-leveled item draw ticket and two non-leveled ability draw tickets, depending on the size and number of dangers you protect Howard Stark from ]
Hey system, I'm talking to you. Was I supposed to speak out loud?
"Hey, Hey, Hey, Oi, Oi, Oi, Oi."
“Michael, are you okay? I've been calling you for a while.”
“Uh, I'm fine. Ignore me, please.”
It seems Howard was trying to communicate with me while I was reading the system messages. Anyway, hey system, give me a sound.
.
.
.
Fucking system, make yourself useful.
Still no response. A system with any intelligence would at least express its displeasure when I cursed at it by increasing my mission difficulty, or something.
[ That's a good idea, sir ]
[ Mission update. New* ]
[ Mission penalty : The effects of all abilities will be reduced by five percent ]
Wait a minute. I was just kidding.
Hey, system take that thing back. Nobody likes systems with mission penalties. You're a bad system!
------- a few minutes later
No matter what I said, the system did not respond to me in any way. Then I was greeted with a countdown to the start of the system update.
Before the countdown was over, I found a backstage room with no one around, went in, and got the rewards from the previous missions.
[ Congratulations you used a good level talent draw ticket to get a excellent level talent called EGO (Blue Lock) ]
[ Congratulations you used a mystic level ability draw ticket to get a mystic level ability called Limitless Technique (Jujutsu Kaisen) ]
“Holy shit!”
“What happened?”
I turned my head in surprise to see the same girl Howard had just kissed poking her head out from behind a changing screen.
“How long have you been here?”
“This is my room, sir.”
“Anyway, I have some things to do.”
I moved to leave the room to leave her alone, assuming she hadn't seen me when I received the system rewards.
“Sir, before you go, could you hand me my clothes?”
