MARVEL: TÁXI DRIVER SYSTEM

Chapter 2: Chapter 002 - Skills

The cold had taken over the city, as if it had swallowed everything around it. But Julian felt a strange warmth crawling up his spine as he stared at the screen glowing in his face. It was as if the world had stopped for a second.

"What the hell is this?" he muttered, looking at the words dancing on the screen like a hologram: **You successfully saved a client from their Tragic Fate. Spider-Man is grateful for your help.**

Julian let out a laugh, but it wasn't funny. It was the kind of laugh someone gives when they don't know whether to cry or laugh.

"Spider-Man? Are you kidding me?" He looked outside the car, where his nephew was hugging the old man. It was almost beautiful, but Julian wasn't there to care about something that wasn't his problem. Not at that moment.

At that moment, another notification sound popped up.

Ding!

[Points accumulated: 1000]

[Would you like to access the Destiny Panel?]

[YES/NO]

"Destiny Panel? For God's sake..." He rubbed his face, trying to convince himself he was awake.

The old man and the boy looked at him in confusion.

"Are you okay, son?" the old man asked, frowning.

Julian raised his hand, as if to say "I'm fine," and slammed the taxi door shut. He wanted the world outside to go silent. Just him and the screen.

"Alright... Let's see where this goes. Open panel, activate, arise... whatever."

As soon as the words left his mouth, the blue screen blinked again, brighter and filled with information. It looked like an RPG menu, except his life was the game.

[Status: Ordinary Human] / [Destiny Points: 1000]

[Available Skills for Purchase: 2]

- Strategic Vision (500 points)

- Spider Sense (700 points)

Julian froze. This still felt like a bad joke, but he wanted to believe it wasn't. A chance, a freaking chance to change everything. Change life without warning, without asking for permission.

This was everything he had ever wanted. A chance to escape the monotony. But... now? Out of nowhere?

"I don't believe this... After years of complaining, something like this shows up? Like... now?" He laughed.

Outside, life went on as usual. The old man and the nephew continued their conversation as if the world wasn't about to crumble over Julian.

He looked at the options. "Strategic Vision" sounded like something from an action movie. But "Spider Sense"? Now that might actually be useful. Life had never been easy, and if he ever had to face another lunatic pointing a gun at him, he'd better have the advantage of being one step ahead.

Without much thought, he focused on the choice, and in the blink of an eye, a warm wave surged through his body, his muscles trembling as if they'd been supercharged.

"Was... was something supposed to happen?"

Another notification sound came, once again.

Ding!

[Skill successfully acquired!]

Julian exhaled a breath he didn't even realize he was holding, and a slow smile spread across his face.

"Alright, destiny... If we're going to play, let's play for real."

...

The warmth in his spine was still there, a strange but oddly comforting feeling. The sounds of the street felt distant, and even the air seemed heavier. Julian felt almost immune to the chaos outside.

"Spider Sense, huh..." he repeated to himself.

Sure, he didn't know exactly what it meant, but somehow, part of him knew this was exactly what he needed.

"So, the skills this system gives me are based on the people I manage to help?" he asked himself.

"That's interesting..."

Sometimes, just the idea of change was enough to bring relief, and that was exactly what he wanted.

Julian leaned back in his seat, crossed his arms, and looked out the window. The night was beginning to fall, and the city lights flickered, calling for his attention.

"This is insane," he murmured, more to himself than anything else.

How could something so absurd even be possible? Spider-Man? Destiny missions? He let out a laugh, but it was one that faded quickly, the laugh of someone who no longer knows what to expect.

It was clear he couldn't trust any of this, but what if...?

Julian's eyes fixed on the screen once more. What was he going to do with this? He blinked, trying to push the doubt away. What should he do? Someone who had always been so passive, so resigned to the life he led, now had the chance to be someone different. What should he become?

"Alright then..." he said softly, almost angry at himself for hesitating. He didn't want to be the guy sitting on the sidelines, watching the train pass by. Now it felt like he had the chance to be the conductor, controlling the whole thing.

And then, as if responding to his thoughts, another notification popped up, enough to make him jump in surprise.

Ding!

[You've received a Destiny Mission!]

[Objective: Save an innocent from a tragic fate. Reward: 1500 Destiny Points.]

Julian laughed loudly again. Oh, of course. Missions. Now it was serious. This wasn't just a lucky break. He was stepping into the game for real.

"A mission..." he exclaimed, looking around as if someone would appear to explain things. What the hell was he supposed to do? Save an innocent? How? Where?

"Alright, universe... Bring it on!" His voice was firmer now, as if, somehow, he was starting to believe it.

Julian grabbed his phone, adjusted it on the mount stuck to the windshield, and then drove off toward the location the GPS was pointing to.

...
