Chapter 5: Chapter 005 - Spider-Man
While Julian was still processing what he was seeing, Spider-Man snapped his fingers in front of his face.
"Hey, driver, can you back up the car? I'm trying to help you."
"H-help?!" Julian stammered, pointing at his suit. "You're just some kid in a cheap cosplay!"
"Sorry, sir, but driving a beat-up taxi with the engine coughing every time you hit a corner doesn't seem very professional." He replied, casually firing a web that hit one of the men trying to get up, without even looking back.
"Who are you calling 'sir'?" Julian said, blushing.
Emily sighed, burying her head in her hands. "Please stop arguing; we have bigger problems..."
Just then, several other cars arrived, and more men stepped out, this time armed with bigger guns.
A rain of bullets zipped across the asphalt under Spider-Man's feet, causing sparks to fly.
"Well, that's a bit rude!" He leaped and clung to the side of a building. "Do you know how expensive it is to make a new suit? I can't even work yet!"
Bang!
Another bullet flew toward him, and he scrambled up the wall to avoid it, his movements looking "desperate."
"Also, I'm not Iron Man!"
Julian ran back to the car, looked out the window, and shouted, "Can you stop provoking them?!"
Spider-Man didn't answer and kept firing small web balls to seal the barrels of the guns, then used another to snatch the weapons from their hands. One man tried to grab him, but he easily knocked him down with a blow.
"Wow, that was close."
"Looks like you tripped over your own problems, buddy!"
Another man charged with a knife. "Really? You're going to use a knife against me and a parked taxi?" Spider-Man mocked, kicking the knife away.
Meanwhile, Julian said, "Emily, can you explain again why we're in a shootout with an amateur superhero?"
"You think this was my plan?" Emily asked.
At that moment, the screeching sound of tires echoed down the street.
"This is turning into a parade," Spider-Man muttered as he jumped toward the taxi, moving forward and stopping in the middle of the chaos.
He crouched, smiled at the two, and said, "Did you guys buy superhero insurance?"
One of the cars accelerated toward him, trying to knock him down, but he jumped, landed on the hood, and fired a web at the windshield, yanking it off, scattering shards of glass everywhere.
"No seatbelt? That's a fine!"
Another man leaned out the car window, firing desperately, hitting the glass windows of a nearby store. Spider-Man grabbed one of the guns on the ground, threw it at him, then ran up and kicked him to the ground.
In the car, Julian began reversing. "I'm not waiting here to get run over."
The taxi trembled as it moved back, knocking over a trash can and nearly hitting a lamppost.
"You're going to kill us before they do..." Emily muttered.
"At least it's an honorable death! Or almost!" Julian said as he drove.
Meanwhile, one of the cars tried to back up but got stuck in a pile of garbage Spider-Man had gathered.
"Looks like you parked in the wrong spot," he said, smiling behind his mask.
At this point, only two men remained. Fear was clear on their faces. They glanced at the scene in front of them, turned, and ran.
"Leaving so soon? The party just started!"
The two fled in a hurry, leaving behind only the sound of the taxi's engine and Julian's heavy breathing.
Spider-Man landed next to the car and tapped on the window. "I'd say you owe me one, but I just want to know... what's in your backpack?"
Emily opened her mouth to respond, but before she could speak, the device in her hand began glowing green.
"What is that? An Omnitrix?" Spider-Man crossed his arms and looked at Emily.
Julian sighed. "You know, that wouldn't even be the weirdest thing about my day."
