Peggy was on edge as she sat in the back of the taxi, her eyes darting around as she tried to shake the uneasy feeling that had settled in her gut. It wasn't until she noticed a shadowy figure keeping pace with her cab that her heart rate spiked and her palms began to sweat. She remained alert, watching the mysterious man in her periphery until they reached her house.
But the danger was far from over. As Peggy stepped out of the taxi, her eyes scanned the street for any sign of trouble. It didn't take long for her to spot the man lurking behind a parked car, his gaze fixed on her every move. She knew then that her fears were not unfounded - someone had sent an assassin to take her out, and it was all because of the Nitramene she had stolen.
Despite the adrenaline pumping through her veins, Peggy kept a cool head and made her way inside her house. She knew she couldn't let her guard down - not even for a moment - if she wanted to stay alive.
As she looked around, she found Valexis engrossed in watching TV and munching on chicken wings, completely unaware of the danger lurking outside.
Peggy tried to remain composed as she walked towards Valexis, trying to hide her fear from him. As soon as he heard the sound of the door closing, Valexis turned to look at Peggy. She met his gaze, and with a few subtle hand gestures, she conveyed to him the message that someone was following her.
With a deep breath, Peggy nodded back at Valexis and walked away towards the bathroom. She knew she had to work fast and her hands trembled as she mixed the sodium hydrogen carbonate and acetate solution using the only ingredients she could find - baking soda and vinegar. After a few minutes, she had the solution ready, and she approached the container with Nitramene with caution.
She opened the container, and a sickly sweet smell filled the air, sending shivers down her spine. She took a deep breath and poured the solution into the container, watching as the liquid turned from green to blue. Peggy felt a sense of relief as she saw the color change, knowing that the Nitramene had been successfully neutralized. She carefully disposed of the container and took a deep breath, feeling grateful that she had avoided a disastrous situation.
While Peggy was neutralizing the Nitramene, the assassin silently crept into the house undetected. Valexis was still engrossed in his television program, oblivious to the danger lurking behind him. The intruder, with a revolver in hand, crept up on Valexis, aiming for the back of his head. His movements were stealthy, and not even the creaking of the floorboards could give him away.
Suddenly, Valexis reacted with lightning speed and hurled the plate in his hand toward the man's face, catching him off guard.
* CRASH *
The sound of the plate shattering echoed throughout the room as the man stumbled backward, disoriented.
At this moment, Val sprang into action, jumping and spinning in mid-air with a perfectly executed kick that landed squarely on the man's face.
* WHAM *
* THUD *
The sound of impact was unmistakable as the man was sent flying, crashing into the wall with a deafening thud.
Val spun around, ready to face his opponent. His eyes widened as he saw the man's skin start to shift and transform. It was then that Val realized he was up against a mutant.
The man charged towards him with fists clenched, ready to strike. Val moved with lightning-fast reflexes, sidestepping the attack and grabbing the man's head with both hands. With all his strength, he slammed his knee into the mutant's face.
* WHAM *
* CRUNCH *
There was a sickening crunch as the mutant's nose broke, blood gushing out from the wound. Despite the mutant's rock-like exterior, Val's attack had caused serious damage.
Suddenly, Val gripped the man's throat and lifted him off the ground, slamming him onto the floor.
* BOOM *
Blood trickled from the man's mouth as he gasped for air, struggling to free himself from Val's hold. But Val was relentless, his fingers tightening around his neck as he sneered in triumph. "Good night, Sasha Demidov," he whispered, watching the fear flicker in Sasha's eyes. Sasha's body convulsed in a final spasm before he went limp, his consciousness slipping away as Val's smirking face was the last thing he saw.
Peggy descended the stairs as her eyes fell on the crumpled figure of Demidov sprawled on the floor. She looked up to Val, who had a questioning expression etched on his face. "What do we do with him?" he asked.
Peggy and Valexis dragged Demidov's unconscious body to the basement where they tied him to a chair. Peggy splashed some water on his face, waking him up with a gasp. "Who are you and why were you following me?" Peggy demanded.
Demidov refused to answer, so Valexis stepped in. "You might as well tell us everything. We have ways of making you talk," he said, cracking his knuckles.
Demidov hesitated, but eventually revealed his name and that he was from Russia. "I was hired by Leviathan to retrieve the Nitramene bombs. They said they would pay me well," he confessed.
Peggy and Valexis exchanged a look. "How many more of you are there?" Peggy asked, her voice cold.
"I was working alone," Demidov replied.
But Peggy didn't believe him. She leaned in close to him and whispered, "You're lying."
The hours that followed were gruesome. Peggy and Valexis subjected Demidov to various forms of torture until he finally revealed that several other assassins were working for Leviathan.
Once they had all the information they needed, Peggy killed Demidov with a swift blow to the head. Valexis then disposed of the body, leaving no trace behind. "Let's hope that's the end of it," Valexis said, as he walked away from the scene.
Valexis returned to the house, feeling the weight of what he had just done. As he entered, he noticed Peggy sitting on the couch, her face etched with stress.
"Hey, is everything okay?" he asked, taking a seat beside her.
Peggy let out a heavy sigh. "No, nothing is okay. The situation just got a lot more complicated," she replied, her eyes conveying the gravity of the situation. "The guy we just killed was supposed to be dead, and now an organization called Leviathan is involved."
Peggy's tone was stern and serious as she warned Valexis, "Val, whatever you do, don't get involved in this mess. If you do, you'll be under a microscope, and people will start asking questions about your whereabouts and your disappearance."
She then advised him to stay put for a few more years until things calm down, adding, "You can focus on your experiments and research while we sort this out."
Valexis nodded, acknowledging her concern and the potential dangers involved, and said, "Alright, I'll take your advice and stay low for a while."
She smiled and affectionately rubbed his head before turning the television on. "What were you watching? Any good shows?" she asked with a smile.
Valexis looked at the television, "There was this one show that caught my attention," he said. "It's a documentary about the effects of climate change in the Arctic. It's fascinating."
