Marvel : The Summoning System

Chapter 8: Chapter 8: Rising from the shadows

The night draped the Hydra base in an ominous shroud as Jiraiya and Hunter, cloaked in shadows, moved stealthily through the facility. The rhythmic hum of machinery echoed in the empty corridors as they approached the heart of the base.

Jiraiya turned to Hunter, his eyes gleaming with a combination of seriousness and determination. "Hunter, we need to strike from the shadows. Assassinate the agents silently. Can you handle it?"

Hunter met Jiraiya's gaze, his expression unwavering. A nod was all it took to convey his readiness.

As they infiltrated deeper, Hydra agents patrolled the dimly lit hallways, unaware of the impending threat. Jiraiya unleashed his genjutsu, casting an illusion to distract a pair of guards, allowing Hunter to slip past undetected.

In the shadows, Hunter moved with lethal grace. His movements were a dance of silent steps and precise strikes. A Hydra agent turned the corner, only to be met with Hunter's swift and silent takedown. Jiraiya watched, impressed by the efficiency of Hunter's skills.

The duo progressed, leaving a trail of incapacitated agents in their wake. The sound of subdued footsteps and hushed whispers became a symphony of stealth. Then, they unexpectedly found themselves near a women's changing room. Jiraiya's roving eyes were drawn to the 'diversion', and his attention 'momentarily' slipped. He dispelled his genjutsu, leaving Hunter without the protective cover, while gathering 'important intel'.

The sudden exposure forced Hunter into a precarious situation. He moved swiftly, dispatching the few guards in the vicinity before they could raise an alarm. However, the commotion had alerted the base, and soon, a wave of Hydra agents converged on their location.

Hunter, now in a direct confrontation, demonstrated his combat prowess. His movements were a blur as he engaged the agents, countering their attacks with precision. His martial arts skills, combined with the unpredictability of his summoning abilities, made him a formidable opponent.

The narrow corridors echoed with the clash of metal and the grunts of agents being incapacitated. Hunter moved like a phantom, his every strike calculated and efficient. Yet, the odds were against him as more agents poured into the fray.

Undeterred, Hunter smirked, a confident glint in his eyes. With a swift handsign, he channeled his chakra, manifesting Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu. A blazing sphere erupted from his hands, engulfing the tunnel in searing flames.

The Hydra agents, caught off guard, were powerless against the inferno. The intense heat and flames consumed everything in their path. The once-numerous adversaries now lay defeated, reduced to ashes.

Hunter, emerging from the fiery spectacle unscathed, took a moment to catch his breath. Jiraiya, rejoining him after the distraction, grinned. "Impressive move, kid. You handled that quite well. Let's keep moving before more reinforcements arrive." to which Hunter just rolled his eyes.

The duo pressed forward, leaving the smoldering remnants of their adversaries behind. The encounter had not only showcased Hunter's combat skills but also highlighted the unpredictable nature of their mission in the shadows.

In a control room, Jiraiya pointed towards a high-ranking Hydra operative engrossed in his work. "That's our target, Hunter. Take him down."

Without hesitation, Hunter approached the operative, his every step calculated to avoid detection. The operation unfolded like a shadowy ballet, a dance of precision and finesse. Hydra agents fell without a sound, their unconscious forms testament to the silent onslaught.

After incapacitating the main target, Hunter and Jiraiya retreated into the shadows. The base, now crippled by their covert assault, lay in temporary silence. As they made their way to the exit, Jiraiya acknowledged Hunter's prowess.

"Not bad, kid. You've got the instincts of a true assassin. We made our point, and Hydra won't know what hit them."

Hunter, still in the throes of the adrenaline-fueled dance, nodded. The night had been a testament to their combined skills, a prelude to the challenges that awaited them in the shadows.

Jiraiya, after the successful infiltration and destruction of the Hydra base, reached out to Aizawa through the communication link. "Aizawa, we've secured the base, but it's a mess. Gather a team and collect whatever supplies and intel you can salvage, although I have stored the clean supply but I don't want to waste my scrolls on a mess. I'll send you the coordinates shortly."

Aizawa, on the other end, acknowledged, "Got it. Send the coordinates, and we'll handle the cleanup. By the way, did you find anything useful in there?"

Jiraiya replied, "Yeah, there's some valuable intel. I'll share it with you. But that's not all; it seems there are a few more Hydra bases nearby. We should hit them too, gather more supplies, and cripple their operations."

Ezio, who had been listening in, spoke up, "I can organize a team to strike those bases. My expertise in stealth and assassination might prove beneficial in these operations."

Aizawa considered the suggestion and said, "That sounds like a plan. Jiraiya, share the coordinates with Ezio as well. We'll coordinate the strikes and ensure we hit them simultaneously. This could be a significant blow to Hydra, and with Ezio leading a team, we'll have a better chance at success."

Jiraiya shared the additional coordinates with both Aizawa and Ezio, and the trio continued to collaborate, maximizing the impact of their operations against the Hydra.

As Ezio swiftly executed his assassinations in one of the Hydra bases, Hunter and Jiraiya were doing the same in another part of the landmass. Unknown to them, their actions had caught the attention of SHIELD, and Hawkeye was dispatched to investigate.

In the shadows, Hawkeye observed the aftermath of the cleared base. The precision and efficiency of the operation hinted at a level of skill beyond ordinary mercenaries. He radioed back to SHIELD headquarters, "This is Hawkeye. I've got a cleanup crew here, but they're no ordinary group. Highly trained, coordinated. It's like they knew exactly what they were doing."

A voice on the other end responded, "Copy that, Hawkeye. Any identification on the group?"

Hawkeye squinted as he continued to watch from a concealed vantage point. "Negative on ID, but they're not Hydra. Seems like they're working against them."

Back at SHIELD headquarters, the voice relayed the information to higher-ups, and a decision was made to monitor rather than intervene for the time being.

On Heli carrier of SHIELD,

As Hawkeye relayed the information to Nick Fury, the seasoned leader/ director of SHIELD, the unexpected nature of this new force intrigued and concerned him. Fury, known for his strategic thinking, immediately recognized the potential impact of this group.

In the dimly lit room at SHIELD headquarters, Fury, surrounded by monitors displaying various intel, listened intently to Hawkeye's report. "So, we've got a group of unknowns taking down Hydra bases, and they're not affiliated with us or any known organization?"

Hawkeye responded, "That's correct, sir. They move fast, hit hard, and seem to be working against Hydra. Skilled, but we couldn't get any clear identifications."

Fury leaned back in his chair, his one good eye narrowing in thought. "Keep an eye on them. We need to know more before we make a move. If they're enemies of Hydra, they might be allies to us, at least for the time being."

Back at the last Hydra base marked on the map, Ezio and Hunter completed their operation. The base was now neutralized, leaving Hydra's presence in the area significantly weakened. However, the watchful eyes of SHIELD added a layer of complexity to their mission.

Meanwhile, Ezio, Hunter, and Jiraiya regrouped at a motel in the nearest town.

Ezio, with a hint of pride in his voice, remarked, "Our strikes are effective, but we need to be cautious. Our actions haven't gone unnoticed. There are eyes on us."

Hunter questioned, "Any idea who might be watching?"

Ezio shook his head. "No specifics, but we're on someone's radar. We should consider our next steps carefully."

Jiraiya, "We as in your team specifically, right?"

Ezio replied, "Yeah, one of the recruits left the trail and was picked up by someone skilled."

Hunter, "Let's just identify who that is. There are many possibilities here but I am guessing it's SHIELD"

Ezio enquired, "Any specific reason to back that conclusion?"

Hunter said with a smirk, "My friend, SHIELD has eyes everywhere. It is an organization which was created almost 50 years ago. They have advance technology, practically unlimited budget and most importantly, strong external help."

The town's atmosphere was tense as the trio, along with Ezio and his team of assassins, observed the trails left by their recent operations. The decision not to communicate with their base was a precautionary measure, given the increasing complexity of the situation.

In the midst of this, the summoning system unexpectedly became active. Hunter, with a sense of anticipation, click summoned, a train appeared. As quickly as it appeared, the system entered cooldown once again.

Gathering in a secluded spot, Jiraiya, Hunter, and Ezio discussed the newfound asset. The train, a symbol of stealth and versatility, presented both opportunities and challenges.

Jiraiya, looking at the sleek design of the train, remarked, "Well, this is a game-changer. The element of surprise combined with firepower could give us a significant edge."

Hunter, assessing the weaponry on the train, nodded. "Indeed. We can use it strategically, especially for missions requiring a quick in and out."

Ezio, observing the surroundings, added, "It also offers a mobile base. We can plan and coordinate our operations on the go, making us less predictable."

As the trio and the team of assassins made their way toward the train station, they blended into the crowd with various disguises. The atmosphere was charged with anticipation, knowing that this new asset could tip the scales in their favor.

In the bustling train station, as the trio and the team of assassins moved towards the train, an unexpected presence loomed in the shadows. Unbeknownst to them, a red-haired agent, none other than Black Widow from SHIELD, had been assigned to monitor their movements. As the train started, she stealthily followed, her trained eyes focused on the elusive group.

Inside the train, assassins and Jiraiya found their positions, setting a course and getting ready for the journey ahead. However, as Hunter and Ezio were about to board, a sudden jolt disrupted the moment. Hunter swiftly turned, his instincts on high alert. In a blur, he intercepted an incoming attack, only to be taken by surprise when Black Widow unleashed an electrifying countermove.

The shock momentarily incapacitated Hunter, leaving Ezio to react swiftly. As the train pulled away from the station, the confrontation intensified. Black Widow, her expression unreadable, addressed Hunter, "You're not an ordinary one, are you?"

Ezio, poised for action, spoke in his distinct Italian accent, "It seems we have an uninvited guest. Who are you, and why are you following us?"

Black Widow, maintaining her calm demeanor, replied, "I have my reasons. We are interested in your activities. Cooperation might be in everyone's best interest."

The confined space of the train became a battleground of ideologies, with each party wary of the other's intentions. Ezio replied, "The first step towards forming an alliance is not an attack."

The brief skirmish between Ezio and Black Widow unfolded with swift and calculated movements. Ezio, displaying the agility of a seasoned assassin, managed to stun Black Widow momentarily, creating a window of opportunity. With a shallow cut on his arm, he gracefully reentered the train.

Hunter still in disguise with a mask, addressing Black Widow, asserted, "We're not your enemies. We'll meet again, under different circumstances." and winked at her. The train, now gaining speed, quickly left behind any traces of the encounter.

As the tension eased, Ezio, examining his minor injury, expressed his admiration, "She's skilled. Does SHIELD have more like her?"

Hunter said, "She's part of the Widow program, trained in the infamous Red Room. Deadly and efficient."

Ezio's interest piqued, "Red Room, you say? Tell me more about this organization. It's interesting."

Hunter, contemplating how much to reveal, began to share insights into the enigmatic Red Room, about the location in the sky and the training details which he remembered.

Later that night, the rhythmic clatter of the train wheels created a backdrop for the conversation between Jiraiya and Hunter as they found a moment of respite in the dimly lit cabin.

Hunter, leaning against the window, began, "Black Widow is a formidable opponent. Trained in the Red Room. Ezio seemed intrigued by the concept of such an organization."

Jiraiya, studying the passing landscapes, responded, "The Red Room has a dark history. It's a place where they forge some of the world's deadliest operatives. Ezio's curiosity might lead us to unexpected outcomes."

Hunter, his gaze focused, continued, "Ezio and I talked about it. He's keen on understanding their methods. It might prove beneficial for us."

Jiraiya nodded, "Knowledge is power, especially in our line of work."

As the train rattled on, Hunter shifted the conversation, "So, where are we headed?"

Jiraiya's eyes gleamed with slyness, "New York."

Hunter, questioned, "Why New York?"

Jiraiya, with a hint of playfulness, "There's something there for us."

Hunter, "Fine. If you don't want to tell, just say so."

Next day the train reached New York, Ezio and the group of assassins blended in shadows and left. Jiraiya took Hunter on a stroll for an hour or two and then they ended up in front of a Skyscraper. Jiraiya urged Hunter to enter the building and as soon as he entered, he was greeted by a grand reception with letters 'Grant Enterprises' written on it.

On the desk three beautiful receptionist were reporting respectfully to a person in suit which was none other than Hiroshi, who after noticing Hunter dismissed everyone.

Hiroshi, with a sly grin, stepped forward. "Welcome back, Hunter. While you were mastering your skills, we've been busy building the foundations of our organization. Allow us to introduce you to Grant Enterprises, your brainchild."

Aizawa entered from the elevator followed by Q, Aizawa in his usual direct manner, added, "We've diversified our operations and created multiple revenue streams. Grant Enterprises is not just a cover; it's a powerhouse of specialized services, technological innovations, and covert operations."

Q, holding a tablet displaying the company's various ventures, said, "From advanced technology research to discreet problem-solving, Grant Enterprises is ready to take on the challenges of the Marvel Universe. And we have you to thank for this, Hunter."

Ezio came down from stairs and said, "We've gathered a team of skilled individuals and positioned ourselves to become a formidable force in the world. The best part? We've done all this without attracting unnecessary attention."

Jiraiya from behind Hunter, extending a hand to Hunter, said, "You started this journey, and now, Grant Enterprises stands as a testament to our collective strength. We are ready to face the shadows and make a mark in this universe. Welcome to a new chapter, Hunter."

The room echoed with a sense of accomplishment as Hunter, though initially taken aback, couldn't help but feel a surge of pride and determination. Grant Enterprises, the first step of an organization born from their collective efforts, was ready to make its mark on the intricate canvas of the Marvel Universe.
