Chapter 101: Chapter 101: The Golden Support
"What's the matter, Mirajane?"
Lucy and George turned around to face her.
Mirajane grabbed Lucy with one hand and George with the other. "I hope the two of you can join Erza and the others tomorrow."
"What, me?"
Lucy's face was filled with disbelief. She doubted her abilities could be of any help.
George, however, narrowed his eyes, already guessing the reason for Mirajane's request.
Sure enough, Mirajane patiently explained, "Lucy, Natsu and Gray are bound to bicker non-stop behind Erza's back. I need you to help keep them in line.
George, your task is even more important. Whether the Guild Master can walk out alive after the next council meeting depends on you!"
"Mirajane... isn't that a bit of an exaggeration? Well... I'll do my best."
George couldn't help but twitch at the corner of his mouth, but under Mirajane's gentle yet expectant gaze, he reluctantly agreed.
It was obvious that Mirajane was worried about Erza, Natsu, and Gray wreaking havoc while on a mission together. She wanted George to help clean up the aftermath with his restoration magic.
Considering how much the Guild Master and other Fairy Tail wizards had supported him recently, George found it hard to refuse.
Moreover, he was curious about what kind of trouble Erza had encountered. If it was something even an S-class wizard found challenging, perhaps it could lead to clues about the Dragon Slayer Lacrimas.
Truth be told, if it weren't for the creation of his Super Wand, George might not have agreed. Anything an S-class wizard deemed problematic would undoubtedly be dangerous. With his previous level of power, he could easily get injured or even killed in the crossfire.
However, the Super Wand had greatly enhanced his magic, increasing the potency of his spells nearly tenfold. Now, even if danger arose, he was confident he could at least escape.
Seeing George agree, Lucy felt compelled to do the same. Though nervous about the potential dangers, she also felt a rush of excitement. After all, this was the kind of adventure she'd hoped for when she left her pampered life to join Fairy Tail!
The Next Day: Magnolia City Train Station
George arrived at the station early, carrying a small backpack. He took out a magic book from his bag and began reading.
The "small backpack" wasn't just small—it looked like a coin pouch when slung over George's feline form.
However, this seemingly tiny bag was no ordinary item. Enhanced with the Super Wand's Undetectable Extension Charm, its interior space was as large as a 40-square-meter room.
With such a spacious storage capacity, George could bring along a plethora of magic books to study during the journey. This way, he could continue researching and learning magic during downtime.
Having already mastered Giant Magic and Light Magic, he was now dabbling in other types of magic that were simpler yet useful for his current combat needs.
"George!"
About five minutes later, a familiar voice broke his concentration. It was Lucy, who had also arrived early.
Today, Lucy wore a yellow camisole paired with a blue miniskirt. The outfit not only accentuated her figure but also made George involuntarily glance a few times.
If nothing else, when it came to... well, certain "proportions," Lucy was definitely among the top Fairy Tail wizards he'd seen.
Shortly after Lucy's arrival, Natsu, Happy, and Gray showed up. However, as expected, Natsu and Gray immediately began arguing.
"Sorry for the wait, everyone!"
Just as the train was about to depart, Erza appeared, dragging a massive cart behind her.
"Why so much luggage?!"
Lucy froze in shock at the sight of dozens of fully-packed suitcases on Erza's cart. Who brought that much baggage for a mission?
Happy whispered, "Erza has OCD. She insists on bringing all her clothes whenever she goes on a mission."
"Looks like she has quite the collection of magical weapons and armor."
George, however, was less focused on the sheer volume of luggage and more intrigued by Erza's arsenal.
Having studied the intricacies of Requip Magic in the library, he knew the magic didn't limit storage to just weapons and armor—it could hold ordinary items as well.
Most Requip wizards, however, lacked the capacity to store more than one or two magical items due to limited space.
But for an S-class wizard like Erza, her storage space was undoubtedly vast.
The fact that she didn't use her storage for her luggage suggested it was filled with magical weapons and armor instead.
After all, with the high rewards of S-class missions, money was unlikely to be an issue for her.
"Erza, if you don't mind, I can store your luggage in my magical storage device," George offered after some thought, setting down his backpack.
This mission had three objectives for him:
1. To repay the guild for the resources and support he'd received.
2. To investigate potential leads on the Dragon Slayer Lacrima.
3. To build strong relationships with the guild's most powerful wizards.
Who knew? If he found a lead on the Dragon Slayer Lacrima but faced powerful enemies, he might need to call in these wizards to help.
"George, you have a rare magical storage device? That would be wonderful!"
Erza's eyes lit up as she watched George demonstrate his magic.
He placed the small bag on the ground, pulled out a wand lined with iron bands, and chanted, "Quick Move!"
One by one, the suitcases floated and lined up neatly, entering the bag as if guided by invisible hands.
"Wow!"
Erza and the others looked on in amazement.
George's magic wasn't particularly destructive, but it carried an elegance that made it almost artistic. Whether repairing objects, cleaning, or organizing luggage, his spells were always a spectacle.
"I'm not much of a fighter, but I know a few support spells. Hopefully, they'll be helpful," George said humbly as he slung the backpack back over his shoulder.
This time, unless absolutely necessary, George had no intention of engaging in direct combat. The enemies they would face weren't low-level wizards; they posed real danger.
Instead, he planned to use his Household Magic to assist, making himself an indispensable support.
"You don't need to fight. Leave all the enemies to me, Natsu, Gray, and Lucy!" Erza declared, patting her armored chest with a resounding clang.
Lucy's face twisted slightly. She wanted to tell Erza that her strength wasn't as impressive as the rumors suggested—there was no way she could take down a Vulcan Gorilla with a single finger!
