Marvel's Magic Master: I Have a Clone in the Harry Potter World!

Chapter 122: Chapter 122: The Professors' Strength

"Harry, let's move back!"

George obediently led Harry away from the entrance rather than joining the professors inside.

At this moment, all they needed to do was wait patiently for the outcome.

Moments later, chaotic noises erupted from the distant chamber—rooster crows, the basilisk's terrified hissing, and the sound of various spells being cast.

"Seal your eyes!"

"Sectumsempra!"

"Confringo!"

"Protego Maxima!"

'Seal the basilisk's deadliest ability with a spell on its eyes, blast it away with an explosion curse, follow up with a slicing spell, and protect everyone with enhanced shield charms. Honestly, even without the roosters, the basilisk wouldn't stand a chance against the professors!' George thought to himself, marveling at the commotion in the chamber.

Except for the likes of Lockhart, the Hogwarts teaching staff comprised some of the finest wizards in the magical world. Even the seemingly eccentric Divination professor, Sybill Trelawney, was a descendant of the great seer Cassandra Trelawney.

When the noise from the chamber subsided, George led Harry to join the professors.

The massive basilisk's fragmented body lay on the ground, lifeless. The professors were unharmed and were using magic to collect the scattered roosters and place them back into the enchanted box.

"Professor, I've been very interested in magical creatures and have been learning about them from Hagrid recently. May I collect a few of the basilisk's fangs as keepsakes?" George asked Snape with a glimmer in his eye.

The basilisk's fangs, capable of destroying Horcruxes, could come in handy in the future.

"This victory is largely thanks to the roosters you brought. Be cautious; the fangs are venomous," Snape replied without hesitation.

George immediately stepped forward and carefully extracted a few venomous fangs, placing them in the box with the roosters.

With the basilisk defeated, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

However, as they prepared to leave the chamber, Lockhart, who was trailing behind, quietly drew his wand.

During the basilisk fight, he'd been cowering in a corner. If the professors returned to Hogwarts, his fabricated reputation would be utterly destroyed, and he'd be exposed as the fraud he truly was.

Determined to preserve his deceit, he planned to cast a mass Memory Charm, erasing everyone's memories and altering them to show that he had defeated the basilisk alone.

"Professor Lockhart, what are you doing? Expelliarmus!"

George, who had been keeping an eye on Lockhart, noticed his suspicious movements and immediately disarmed him with a spell, sending him flying backward and his wand out of reach.

"George, what's going on?"

McGonagall and the other professors looked puzzled.

"I saw Professor Lockhart trying to cast a spell to attack all of you," George explained, pointing at Lockhart.

"That's not true! I wasn't doing that! George, how could you attack a teacher?" Lockhart protested desperately.

Snape strode up to Lockhart, a cold expression on his face. "Legilimens!"

Snape's probing revealed the truth, and his expression darkened. "This fraud planned to use a Memory Charm on us to claim the credit for defeating the basilisk, just as he has done before—stealing others' stories and erasing their memories for his books."

"I knew it! That scoundrel!" The other professors erupted in anger.

Lockhart, still flailing, tried to deny it. "You're lying! You're all just jealous of me!"

"Incarcerous!" Snape flicked his wand, conjuring magical ropes that bound Lockhart tightly.

"You can explain yourself to the Aurors. If you don't cooperate, I might be inclined to lend them some Veritaserum," Snape said icily.

George watched Lockhart's despair with a hint of amusement.

While Lockhart had granted George several passes to access restricted books, his attempt to erase everyone's memories—including George's—was a step too far.

After the incident, Dumbledore returned to Hogwarts, reinstated as headmaster.

Dumbledore summoned George, Harry, Hermione, Ron, and Ginny to his office for a detailed account of the events.

George recounted what he could while omitting unnecessary details. His role had been relatively minor—encouraging Ginny to confess and helping transport the roosters. Most of Dumbledore's questions focused on Harry and Ginny, particularly the night Ginny lost the diary.

Ginny, for some reason, omitted mentioning the butterfly bookmark she'd placed in the diary. George guessed she simply forgot the detail.

Even if she'd remembered, no one would suspect George's ability to track the bookmark using magnetism—a scientific principle outside the wizarding world's framework.

With the matter settled, George returned to his dormitory. Whatever private conversation Dumbledore had with Harry afterward was none of his concern.

Later that evening, the school announced the basilisk's defeat. Joy spread among the students, and Hogwarts returned to normal. Quidditch matches resumed, and the end-of-term exams proceeded as scheduled—no cancellation like in the original timeline.
