Chapter 80: 80: Semi-Finals [II]
The tension in the stadium was palpable as the arena reset for the next set of battles. The first two matches had already been a whirlwind of intensity, and the crowd was buzzing with excitement for what was to come.
After the impressive victories of Bakugo and Midoriya, the rest of the students were determined to prove their strength and skills.
Midnight's voice rang out once again, commanding the crowd's attention. "Next up, we have the incredible Momo Yaoyorozu from Class 1-A, facing off against Tenya Iida, the unyielding powerhouse of Class 1-A! Let the battle begin!"
Momo, with her graceful demeanor and a quick, intelligent mind, stood poised, ready for battle. Her hands were already raised, prepared to create whatever she needed for the duel.
Tenya Iida, his glasses gleaming under the lights, straightened up, his posture impeccable as always.
His quirk, Engine, was well-known for its speed and power, and he had already demonstrated its use in the earlier rounds.
[Third Match]
The match began with a burst of speed from Tenya. "I'll show you the power of my resolve!" he shouted as he shot forward, his legs propelling him across the stage in an instant.
Momo reacted swiftly, reaching into her body's reserve of lipids to create a set of bladed weapons. She threw them toward Iida, but he dodged expertly, using his engines to zip left and right with remarkable agility.
"I can't afford to let him get close," Momo muttered to herself, her mind racing as she calculated her next move.
She needed something more versatile, something that would limit Iida's mobility.
Without hesitation, she held her arm out, her fingers crackling with energy as she formed a pair of thick, sturdy sheets of steel in front of her. They rose quickly from her exposed belly, creating a formidable barrier between her and Iida.
But Iida was quick to react—he revved his engines and zoomed over the steel sheets, spinning in mid-air to land behind Momo.
"Gotcha!" he yelled as he surged forward to make a decisive attack.
But Momo wasn't caught off guard. With a swift motion, she created an array of magnetic spikes from her palms and mounted them on the steel sheets, aiming them straight at Iida.
"Too slow!" Iida shouted as he revved his engines to full power, narrowly avoiding the spikes. He darted around the battlefield, his speed making it difficult for Momo to predict his next move.
The crowd gasped as Momo used her intelligence and ingenuity to think on her feet. She quickly created a pair of grappling hooks and shot them into the ceiling of the arena. The hooks latched onto the metal framework above them, and Momo swung herself up into the air.
"Is she flying?!" someone shouted from the stands.
"No, she's using the grappling hooks to gain an aerial advantage," came the reply from another spectator.
From above, Momo looked down at Iida, who was now trying to catch up to her. "I've got the high ground!" she called down, a confident smile on her face. She used her quirk to create a dozen bolas and dropped them toward Iida, aiming to ensnare his legs.
But Iida was ready. "Not today!" he shouted, shifting his engines into overdrive. With a quick burst of speed, he avoided the bolas and leapt high into the air to meet Momo face-to-face.
The two locked eyes, and for a split second, time seemed to slow down as they both prepared for their final attack. Momo formed an intricate set of blades in her hands, while Iida revved his engines to their maximum power, aiming straight for her.
In that moment, Momo made a split-second decision. She couldn't afford to create something that could match his speed, but she could outsmart him. She threw one of her blades, but it was a decoy—she used the distraction to quickly create a set of thick, indestructible chains that wrapped around Iida's legs, tripping him.
Iida tumbled to the ground, his engines sputtering in surprise. Momo landed gracefully beside him and quickly pinned him down with the chains. Midnight immediately raised her hand. "Winner: Momo Yaoyorozu!"
[A/N: The goddess Momo cannot lose!!!]

[Fourth Match]
The crowd cheered as the next match was announced. "Next up, we have a battle of the hardest heads! Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu from Class 1-B faces off against Kirishima Eijiro from Class 1-A! Let's see which of these two heavy hitters comes out on top!"
Tetsutetsu, his body glowing with the power of his steel transformation, grinned as he stepped into the ring. His skin took on the appearance of metal, and his muscles bulged as he prepared for the battle.
Kirishima, with his signature sharp smile, cracked his knuckles, his own body beginning to harden like the toughest of rocks.
The crowd was on the edge of their seats as the two of them faced off, their strength and durability both unmatched. The battle was bound to be a clash of titans.
"Let's make this a good one!" Kirishima yelled, charging forward with a grin.
"Bring it on!" Tetsutetsu roared in response.
The sound of fists colliding was deafening as the two combatants met in the center of the arena.
Tetsutetsu's metallic skin made every hit from Kirishima feel like a hammer against steel, but Kirishima's hardened body absorbed the blows with ease.
The two of them traded heavy punches, each one seemingly shaking the arena. Neither fighter was willing to give an inch, and the crowd was torn between awe and exhilaration.
"Who's going to give out first?" Aiden mused from the sidelines. "This is nuts."
"Both of them are equally hard-headed," Seraphina observed, her eyes glued to the action.
Tetsutetsu swung a massive punch, aiming for Kirishima's face, but Kirishima dodged with impressive agility. He retaliated with a devastating Red Riot: Unbreakable, his body becoming harder than ever as he charged with full force toward Tetsutetsu.
The impact was earth-shattering, sending Tetsutetsu skidding back, but the metallic student just grinned, his body still intact.
"You think you can break me?" Tetsutetsu laughed, charging forward once more.
Kirishima's face was set in determination as he leapt forward, using the momentum to slam his fists into Tetsutetsu's chest.
The clang of the impact was like the ringing of a bell, and Tetsutetsu grunted, momentarily pushed back.
Despite the damage they were doing to each other, neither of them seemed willing to relent. The crowd roared as the two continued to clash, with each hit seeming to escalate in intensity.
They were both showing their heart and willpower, and it was clear that neither of them was going to back down.
Finally, after several more earth-shaking punches and unyielding attacks, the match reached its climax. Both Tetsutetsu and Kirishima charged at each other one last time, and their fists collided with a massive, explosive crash.
The sheer force of their impact sent both of them flying backward, slamming into opposite sides of the arena.
For a moment, there was silence. The crowd held their breath as the two combatants struggled to rise.
In the end, neither of them was able to get up in time, both of them too exhausted from the brutal exchange. Midnight raised her hand, calling the match to a close.
"This match ends in a draw! Both competitors have given their all, but neither was able to secure a victory!"
The crowd erupted into applause, recognizing the sheer tenacity of both fighters. Kirishima and Tetsutetsu exchanged a tired, but respectful glance as they both nodded to one another.

[Fifth Match]
Midnight's voice boomed over the speakers. "Next up, we have Monoma Neito from Class 1-B, known for his ability to copy others' quirks, facing off against Mina Ashido, the bubbly, acid-wielding hero from Class 1-A!"
Monoma, with his usual smug expression, stood at the ready, his hands on his hips. Mina, her face beaming with her characteristic bright smile, bounced excitedly in her place.
"I'm going to show you what real creativity looks like, Monoma!" Mina called out.
"We'll see about that, Ashido," Monoma retorted, cracking his knuckles as he got into position.
As soon as the match started, Monoma immediately rushed Mina and threw a right hook. Mina, without thinking raised her left hand and redirected Monoma's strike.
"Gotcha!" Monoma excaimed and immediately activated his quirk, copying Mina's acid production.
His body began to glow a faint green as he launched streams of corrosive liquid at Mina.
"Is this how you want to play it?" Mina asked, flipping backward with impressive agility. She fired off her own streams of acid, dodging Monoma's attacks while keeping up the pressure.
Monoma laughed, easily dodging her attacks. "You think you can outdo me with your own quirk? Think again!"
The two of them engaged in a fluid back-and-forth battle, using their unique abilities to try to outsmart each other. Mina, with her acid, tried to overwhelm Monoma's defenses, while Monoma's quick reflexes and ability to adapt allowed him to avoid her attacks and counter with his own corrosive blasts.
As the battle wore on, both of them began to tire, but their quirk abilities seemed to be evenly matched. Each time one gained the upper hand, the other would retaliate.
Finally, after an exhausting series of attacks, the match came to a close. Both competitors were panting heavily, their clothes singed and torn, but neither had managed to land a decisive blow.
Midnight raised her hand, declaring the result.
"This match ends in a tie! Both competitors fought valiantly, but neither was able to secure a victory!"
[A/N: Say what you may but Monoma is The Man. Frankly I quite enjoy his Greater-than-Thou attitude coz he has the skill and smarts to back it up. Bakugo, Edge Shot, Lamillion etc would have died earlier in the final fight if it weren't for copying Aizawa's quirk.]
The crowd erupted in applause as the two students, breathing heavily, gave each other a nod of mutual respect. They had both given their all, but neither could claim victory.
As the matches concluded for the first half of the day, the crowd was still buzzing with excitement. The fighters had given their best, with some achieving victory and others demonstrating incredible perseverance.
As they made their way back to the locker rooms, the students reflected on the battles they had just witnessed and participated in. Despite the exhaustion, there was a sense of camaraderie among them all.
For now, the stage was set. The stage for the ultimate showdown that would decide who would rise to the top.
