MHA: Beginning in Other Worlds with the Power to Rewrite History

Chapter 1: 001

The supermarket was crowded, but the shelves looked desolate. There were barely any fresh products left, and the few cans of preserves that remained were snatched up by anxious hands. The lights flickered slightly, as if reflecting the tension in the air. People rushed back and forth, filling their carts with whatever they could find. Amid the chaos, a young man stood out, seemingly detached from the frenzy around him.

He looked about sixteen, with black hair and green eyes that calmly observed everything around him, a stark contrast to the turmoil in the place. He wore simple and somewhat worn clothing: a dark fabric jacket, jeans, and sneakers that had seen better days.

That young man was Yuto Nishimura. He walked slowly toward the appliances aisle, where a row of televisions caught his attention. The screens displayed images of destruction and chaos, accompanied by the grave voice of a news reporter.

"Following the devastating defeat of the heroes in Japan, the villains, led by an individual known as Tomura Shigaraki, have begun expanding their influence globally. We strongly urge all citizens to shelter in place and remain calm. Remember, safety is the most important thing at this time..."

The reporter continued, but Yuto barely listened. The images on the screen showed collapsed buildings, fallen heroes, and a world on the brink of collapse. Around him, some shoppers briefly paused to watch the news; others simply continued their hurried, downcast paths.

He clenched his fists as his mind drifted back to events from eight years ago, when he woke up in this world in the body of an orphaned child. Quirkless. In a place where nearly everyone was born with special abilities, he was an anomaly. Doctors had diagnosed him as "quirkless," something rare but not impossible.

The reporter's voice pulled him back to the moment he decided to flee Japan a year ago. He had known what was coming. He had read the manga, watched the anime. He understood that Japan would become a lawless zone for a time. Although he trusted that Izuku Midoriya and the other heroes would eventually fix everything, he didn't want to be caught in the chaos. Running was the only logical option. But that was before everything fell apart. Before Midoriya died and the entire world fell into the hands of the villains.

"What went wrong?" he thought as he watched the images on the screen. "Did I interfere somehow? Or is this an alternate universe where things were never meant to go right?"

A growing murmur pulled him out of his thoughts. People were starting to move more quickly, aware they couldn't stay too long. Yuto tore his gaze away from the televisions and headed to the nearly empty shelves.

He grabbed what little remained: a couple of cans of soup, a box of cereal, and a bottle of water. As he packed them into his backpack, his mind raced. He had been gathering supplies over the past few weeks, but it wasn't enough. His job as a helper in a mechanic's shop barely covered the basics, and with each passing day, things got worse.

He paid quickly and left the supermarket. Outside, the street was eerily quiet. The few pedestrians hurried along, avoiding eye contact. A tremor underfoot made him stop. He looked up at the sky just in time to see a formation of fighter jets speeding by, their roar echoing through the air.

"This doesn't look good," he muttered, adjusting the backpack on his shoulders.

He quickened his pace, his mind focused on getting to his apartment. He needed time to think, to decide what to do. But something told him that time was running out fast.

Once inside his small, worn-out apartment, Yuto shut the door and leaned against it, letting out a long sigh. He pulled out his phone and started searching for routes out of the city, though he knew it would be futile. He didn't have the resources to escape, and there were fewer and fewer safe places left.

The ground trembled again, this time stronger. A dull roar echoed in the distance, followed by an explosion that shook the windows. He approached the glass and looked toward the horizon. A cloud of black smoke rose, marking the site of the impact.

"They're here," he thought, his stomach tightening. Outside, sirens began to wail as heroes rushed toward the disaster zone.

Another explosion in the distance made Yuto cover his ears. The blast wave was so close that the walls of his apartment shook, and the window glass vibrated to its limit. Cursing under his breath, he tried to steady himself. The explosion had been much stronger than the last, and now everything seemed on the verge of collapse.

He approached the window again, his eyes fixed on the horizon. When his gaze refocused on the street below, his jaw nearly dropped. Monstrous creatures with misshapen bodies and immense strength were walking among the ruins. They were enormous, with empty faces and exposed brains.

"Are those... Nomus?" he murmured, unable to believe what he was seeing.

Yuto swallowed hard, his fingers gripping the edge of the window. The sight of the Nomus was unmistakable. His mind started racing. He had no training, no quirk, nothing he could use against those things. But staying there wasn't an option.

Suddenly, a closer explosion made the entire building shake. The force of the blast shattered the glass in his window, sending shards flying inward. Yuto instinctively backed away, shielding his face with his arms.

"Shit!" he yelled as he fell backward onto the floor. The blaring sirens and panicked screams grew louder.

He got up with difficulty, his heart pounding like a wild drum. He looked around, searching for his backpack. He spotted it near the door, where he had left it upon entering. Grabbing it, he slung it over his shoulder, feeling the weight of the few supplies he had managed to gather.

Yuto stepped out of his apartment, his heart racing and a cold sweat running down his back. As he shut the door behind him, the sound of another explosion rumbled in the distance, a stark reminder that staying was not an option. He headed toward the hallway window, the one that provided access to the fire escape. When he opened it, a gust of hot air and the smell of smoke hit him full force.

He peeked carefully. Below, the streets were engulfed in chaos: overturned cars, flames devouring nearby buildings, and people running frantically in all directions. A Nomu suddenly appeared through the smoke, crushing a vehicle with a brutal swing of its arm. Yuto looked away, swallowing hard. He couldn't afford to lose his calm.

He slid through the window and began descending the fire escape, making sure not to make a sound. When he reached the third floor, a nearby explosion shook the building, and he had to grip the railing tightly to avoid falling. A piece of concrete broke off, passing just a few meters from him and crashing onto the pavement with a deafening roar that chilled his blood.

Finally, his feet touched the ground. The alley where the fire escape ended was deserted, but the roar of the creatures and human screams were too close for his comfort. He looked both ways, making sure the path was clear before running out.

"All this is a damn disaster, but I... I'm not dying here," he murmured, his voice trembling. "I'll live like a damn hermit if necessary."

His plan was clear: get out of the city as quickly as possible. He had no intention of seeking refuge. He knew that, even if the government set up safe camps, those places wouldn't last long.

Yuto continued his path with a twisted stomach, ignoring the screams and cries around him. Every time he heard a plea, his heart tightened, but he couldn't stop. He knew that if he did, he'd become just another victim. However, the images of people trapped under rubble, lifeless bodies, and children calling for their parents haunted him; he couldn't erase those memories from his mind. Every time his eyes met the corpse of someone, his stomach churned, and a wave of nausea flooded over him. It was a strange feeling, foreign to someone who had lived an ordinary life, but now there was no room for compassion. Fear had taken over him, and the need to survive outweighed any other instinct.

The bridge was in sight. In the distance, he could see the flickering lights of abandoned vehicles, the remnants of destroyed buildings, and the despair spreading throughout the area. Only a few more minutes to get there, to escape the city that had now become a hell. But Yuto's luck was running out.

Suddenly, a shuddering noise brought him to a screeching halt. A roar, somewhat deeper and closer to his position, cut through the air. Yuto had no time to react. Before he could turn his head or make any movement, something huge and heavy lifted him off the ground with superhuman strength.

A pair of massive claws had grabbed him by the shoulders, lifting him up like he was a mere rag doll. In an instant, Yuto was floating in the air, his feet off the ground. He looked up, eyes wide with terror.

Before him, a monstrous creature stared at him with bulging eyes, its giant wings beating the air with force, raising gusts that ruffled his hair. The winged Nomu held him with crushing strength, its claws digging into his shoulders, no matter what he could do to get away.

"No… no, please!" Yuto screamed, his voice shaky and filled with panic, but there was no response. The monstrous Nomu continued to hold him with its titanic strength, ignoring his pleas. The creature's bulging eyes stared at him, empty of compassion, while its wings beat the air with such violence that the gusts left him breathless.

Suddenly, Yuto heard a scream that wasn't his own. To his left, he saw another person fall from above. The sound of their body hitting the pavement was so dry and chilling that Yuto felt a knot in his stomach. His gaze turned to the ground, and he could see a dark bloody mark spreading across the road, a terrifying testament to what had just happened.

Other screams began to fill the space, screams of terror, of agony. Yuto could barely comprehend what was happening around him. In the distance, he saw more winged Nomus, carrying other people in the same situation, lifting them into the air like toys, only to then release them to their fate.

The Nomu holding him lifted him even higher, until the ground seemed so far away that Yuto couldn't conceive of the height he was at. His legs began to weaken, fear enveloping him with each passing second. He couldn't fight, he couldn't escape. He was already too high, too close to death.

Knowing he was going to die, Yuto could only remember his regrets. His past life, the decisions he made, the opportunities he passed up. He missed his parents, his ordinary, quiet life. At that moment, up high, all he wanted was to see them again, even if it was just for a second, if only to apologize, to tell them what he hadn't had the courage to tell them.

Thoughts consumed him, pounding his mind hard. Every decision he avoided making, every opportunity he passed up, it all seemed so clear to him now, as he stood at the mercy of the monster holding him.

He felt the claws that had held him so tightly begin to loosen. The pressure on his shoulders suddenly disappeared, and for an instant, he almost seemed to float. But then gravity took over.

The ground grew larger with every second. His arms moved instinctively, as if he could grab onto something, but there was nothing there, just emptiness. Yuto's life flashed before his eyes in a series of fleeting flashes.

"Damn... I didn't really do much," he muttered, almost laughing at how ironic it was.

The ground was getting closer and closer. In his final seconds, Yuto closed his eyes and wished for something different. He wished to change all of this, he wished that somehow he could fix it. With all his being, he let out one last scream, one of pure despair, that seemed to echo in the void.

As he fell, something strange began to happen. In his desperation, Yuto hadn't noticed that the world around him was changing. The Nomus' wings, which had previously been flapping frantically, were now doing so slowly, as if time were stretching itself out. An explosion that had started down below near the bridge was spreading in slow motion, every bit of debris frozen in mid-air.

But that wasn't the strangest thing. Yuto felt a tingling sensation run through his entire body. He opened his eyes just in time to see him begin to flicker, as if his figure was fading away at times, warping and returning to its normal form.

"What the...?" He tried to scream, but couldn't finish. An instant later, his body disappeared into the air.
