Chapter 27: Bakugo x Uraraka

In the bustling city of Musutafu, where heroes soared through the skies and villains lurked in the shadows, Katsuki Bakugo and Ochaco Uraraka found themselves working side by side as pro heroes. Despite their contrasting personalities—Bakugo's explosive intensity and Uraraka's cheerful resilience—they respected one another deeply. Today, however, had been a rollercoaster of chaos and emotions.

The afternoon started off smoothly on their joint patrol. Bakugo, ranked 2nd, was focused and determined as always, guiding Uraraka, ranked 5th, with his intense energy. The sun beamed down on them as they surveyed the streets filled with civilians going about their daily lives. But that tranquility shattered when an unexpected villain outbreak erupted, sending the city into panic.

Bakugo leaped into action, blasting his way toward the nearest trouble with his signature explosions, while Uraraka followed closely behind, her quirk allowing her to make objects weightless. They fought fiercely, but the villain was powerful, manipulating debris and creating chaos. During their battle, Uraraka found herself face-to-face with a piece of rubble, and in a split-second decision to protect a child, she took a heavy blow.

When the smoke cleared, Bakugo's heart raced as he rushed to her side, his eyes wide with concern. "Uraraka!" he shouted, but she had already succumbed to unconsciousness. Panicking, Bakugo scooped her up, holding her protectively against his chest as he rocketed into the air, determined to get her somewhere safe.

Back at his apartment, he laid Uraraka gently on his bed, examining the extent of her injuries. A nasty cut marred her inner thigh, the sight causing a wave of guilt to wash over him. If only he had been quicker, more vigilant. Hours passed as he paced around, glaring at his hands for feeling so helpless. Eventually, she began to stir.

When Uraraka opened her eyes, the warm glow of the setting sun filtered through Bakugo's window. Dazed but feeling a sense of familiarity, she blinked slowly. "Where am I?" she murmured, attempting to sit up.

Bakugo, hearing her voice, rushed into the room with a first aid kit and a clean set of clothes. "You're fine, dumbass," he said, a hint of his characteristic bluster softening his tone. "I'm gonna take care of you until you heal."

Her heart fluttered at his concern, a warmth spreading through her. He wasn't just taking her injury seriously; he genuinely cared. "But... the missions..." she started, but he cut her off with a fierce look.

"We'll take a break from them. You need to heal, got it?"

Reluctantly, she nodded, knowing it was best to recover fully. After a quick shower, she emerged clad in fresh clothes, feeling invigorated but still cautious of her injury. When she came into the bedroom, she found Bakugo looking away, his cheeks tinged with pink, as he cleared his throat awkwardly.

"Uh, you need to take those sweats off so I can clean your wound," he stammered, trying to mask his embarrassment.

Uraraka's cheeks burned as she realized what he meant. "Um, okay…" she replied, trying to sound nonchalant as she sat down and slid her sweats down, revealing her boxer shorts. The moment felt surreal and intimate, and a blush crept onto her cheeks.

As Bakugo carefully cleaned her wound, she couldn't help but hiss at the stinging sensation. She shifted, half-embarrassed, but Bakugo focused on his task. The air was thick with an odd tension, yet somehow, everything felt normal amidst the awkwardness.

As days turned into a week, Bakugo took diligent care of her, checking her injuries, making meals, and even managing to crack a rare smile or two. With each passing day, Uraraka felt herself healing not just physically but emotionally too. She appreciated his kindness, more aware than ever of the feelings she'd harbored for him since college.

On the following Friday, she was finally cleared for duty again. The briefings went well, and patrol was exciting. Yet, an anxious flutter gripped her heart as she prepared to confess her true feelings. The perfect moment lingered in her mind, just waiting to be shared between them.

But as she opened her mouth to speak, Bakugo interrupted her, a serious expression on his face. "Hey, Uraruka," he began, a rare vulnerability shining through his brash exterior. "I want to take you out on a date."

Her cheeks flushed deep red, and her heart raced as she processed his words. "Really?" she asked, trying to contain her excitement.

"Yeah," he replied, glaring at her but unable to hide the hint of a grin. "You've been through a lot, and I don't want you to think of me as just some jerk. I… I think we should hang out, just us."

Uraraka's smile widened; her heart surged with hope. "I'd like that," she replied, her voice a mixture of excitement and disbelief.

And in that moment, amidst the chaos of hero work, an undeniable bond was forged—a promise of more than just camaraderie, but possibly, something that could blossom into love.
