Chapter 5: Chapter 5 Confinement
The following morning helicopters circled round the cordoned off area, including the field and Brandon residence.
Forensics scoured the area snapping photographs of the scene, then taking swabs of the blood present in abundance. They were working to piece together what had happened, they knew who the route cause was, the police had him in custody. But they were trying to piece together how the quirks power spread and how contagious it was.
Reporters stood at the other side of the police barricades, over 500 meters away from the scene. They were trying to inquire about what had happened.
"Officer! What can you tell us about the murders? Who was the victim? And has the culprit been caught? Is this the work of a new villain?!" one reporter shouted across to the captain in charge.
"If you ask me it's an awfully heinous quirk he's got…" one of the junior policemen with four eyes said to his co-worker standing to his left.
The reporter who heard this with his quirk, Enlarged ears, turned to the policeman with a predatory grin on his face.
"Is that the official statement from the police department?" he asked the officer he head speak. "Does that also mean that the culprit has been captured?"
The officer taken aback tried to calm down the reporter, but any time he moved to open his mouth the swarm of reporters barraged him with questions on the supposed villain attack.
The police chief caught wind of what was happening and rushed over to assist his team.
"Any questions will be answered at tomorrows press conference at Gneiss police station!" his voiced boomed, probably an effect of his quirk.
That made all the reporters quickly shut up. But they had more than enough for a story scoop, they would pick apart this villain when his name was released tomorrow.
At the site of the incident the hero that had landed and taken on the dinosaur swarm was standing reporting her encounter with a team of virus and quirk specialists. She was a tall blonde woman, with brilliantly blue eyes and bright blond hair. She wore modified silver knights armour with the blue frills of a dress poking out from the small gaps in her armour. She was the rank 19th Hero, Saber. Nicknamed, Knight Pendragon of England, one of its best defenders and heroes.
"Yes, that's correct. After the creatures were slain almost all of them reverted back into horses, all but one that stayed partially transformed." She informed the lead expert in front of her.
"And what happened to the two humans who came into contact with the animals, did they exhibit any signs of transformation?" he asked back.
"No. The Person out in the field was completely unrecognisable, likely killed almost instantly the had his flesh ripped asunder." She said with a grimace on her face remembering the scene she stumbled unto after dispatching the dinosaurs. "The woman inside the house was more intact. But she was gurgling on her blood and died before I could save her. She also showed no signs of transformation."
"Hmmm. That's fascinating, we must find out the limitations of this quirk. It could be extremely versatile." The balding middle-aged scientist spoke once more with an apathetic tone.
"Where was the boy I recovered for the scene, he appeared to have broken limbs. It's a miracle the creatures never went for him considering how close he must have been to them." She spoke.
She was happier knowing that she had saved at least one person from the creatures.
"Who? Ah yes, the boy. He's safe." The man said dismissively.
"You may leave now your presence was greatly appreciated, I'm sure your ranking will be up even higher at the end of the year." He spoke with a cold tone.
"Right, well I will be off then." She said tiredly, she had been up since early the previous day without sleep. But such was a hero's life. With that she took off from the ground flying into the air and picking up speed, heading to her agency in the nearest city.
"Let's get these blood samples back, we must understand who the boys quirk functions." The head scientist spoke to his team ushering them along into the trucks they came from.
--
Dio awoke in the freezing cold on the floor, with his arms restrained behind his back. His broken leg had not been tended too and bruises adorned his body. His lips were cracked, and his mouth was parched of any saliva.
As his senses came to him, he could feel the immense pain of his broken leg. He immediately began to cry in pain, but no tears wet his eyes.
He looked around the room, it was cold and lifeless made of steel and concrete, a dull light in the ceiling and a metal door with thin slats at the top.
He dragged him self over to the door and pounded his fist against it.
"Hello? Is anybody there? Please help, it hurts. My leg hurts. Please. Please." He called out hoarsely, hoping for anyone to hear him at the other side of the door.
He kept calling at the door, but he never received an answer, not even a hint that people were at the other side of the door. He called for hours until exhaustion caught up to him and he passed out once more, curled up on the floor in a ball clutching at his leg calling for his mum and dad.
--
The Joestar family had been making their way back to the manor. The entourage of cars and bodyguards in a large line, there to protect the Joestars from all harm that could come their way.
Sitting in the middle car in the convoy was JoJo, as he sat speaking to his mom.
"Mum look that's the 4th police car today!" he spoke. "Was there a super villain and hero fight? I hope I didn't miss anything."
"No JoJo, I'm sure it's nothing important. Are you excited to play with Dio again? You have become such great friends." She replied to the boy bouncing in his chair with energy.
"Yeah I'm super excited we-" He was caught off by the car slowing down to a halt just shortly after turning into the track that lead to the manor.
"What on earth?" George spoke out.
"Why did we stop dad?" JoJo asked curiously.
"I'm not sure, I'll go and find out." He replied as he moved to step out the car.
In front of him, the first car in the convoy was stopped by a police barricade. His bodyguards were standing off to the side in a heated discussion with the police officer that had denied them entry. As George walked closer, he began to hear what was happening.
There had been a villain attack at the farm overnight and the road was closed due it being an active crime scene and the extent of the damages. Colour drained from Georges face, just up ahead was the Brandons house.
'Had they been caught up in this?' he thought grimly.
He moved past his bodyguards and called out to the officer. "What happened here?"
"We are not at liberty to say. An official state-"
"I don't care. MY, close friends live in that house down there! I LIVE in the manor just further up! I OWN this farm! You WILL tell me what has happened here!" He bellowed at the officer, rage painting his face as his fists clenched by side.
"Sir, you are the owner of the farm?" the officer shrunk back, his voice meek.
"Yes, I do! NOW TELL ME WHAT I WANT TO KNOW!" he shouted.
The officer gave in to his demands, making the other police officers stand to the side and let George through the barricade and led him down to the police chief and the crime scene.
"I am George Joestar, I own this farm, and my employees and friends live here tell me what has happened." He asked the police chief with a firm tone.
"Well Mr Joestar, we were alerted by nurses last night that a potentially dangerous quirk had been found. The blood sample they were analysing acted as a virus. It transformed anything that encountered the blood, inanimate objects were only partially transformed. But they feared what would have happened if a person was to spread the quirk-like virus." He paused for a moment letting himself take a breath and allowing George to gather his thoughts.
"But when we got here it was too late for the family that lived here, I am truly sorry Mr Joestar." He sighed.
"What? Anne and Robert? Where is their son Dio? What happened to the Boy!?" says George as his face paled, his stomach dropped, and his back was drenched in sweat.
"The boy… Dio you say? Well, it was his quirk that caused all of this. We are holding him at a secure site while we figure out how to stop his quirk from activating." He replied with a grimace upon his face.
"Take me to him." George said.
"I'm afraid nobody can see him, not until we know how to contain his quirk from spreading any." The chief said shaking his head.
"The boy has just lost his parents; he will be scared. Take me to him now otherwise I will make you lose your job faster than you can throw me out of here." George said sternly, his patience was nowhere to be seen.
"Err… I'm sure we can work something out Mr Joestar. There's no need to go that far." The police chief spoke with his hands up in the air defensively.
George said nothing more, allowing the man to pass him to move towards the police car. He moved back to his car, signalling to his wife to roll down the window.
"Anne, take JoJo back to the house, don't let him see the Brandons house as you pass. I will be back later there is something I must do first." He whispered to her. "I will tell you when I get back." He gestured towards the drivers and bodyguards.
"Keep them safe at any cost!" he said while moving to the last vehicle in the convoy and hoping in.
"Follow those police cars and get my lawyers here as soon as possible. Something was wrong with the way the officers acted when I spoke of Dio. And step on it, the boy may be in trouble, I cannot fail him!" he gave instructions to the driver of the blacked-out car.
