Chapter 8: Chappter 8: Tattoo

"Being yakuza."

The world slowed down, almost to a stand still. His heart became a paradox, a living contradiction. Torn between beating outrageously fast or not beating at all. His blood turned cold and his body froze to stone.

"Tsk." Hiashi seeing his sons reactions couldn't help but click his tounge. He wanted to go up and reassure him (same as his wife and niece) but alas he knew he couldn't Interfre in this instance. His heart ached.

"Ex-excuse me?" Tatsu stutters out.

He couldn't give a rats ass what the fami- well clan used to be like. He's a person who's experienced death so he's not as soft hearted as he once was. However, hearing this is just absurd. I mean what is possibly one of the greatest hero families are a yakuza clan? Or used to be?

"Haaaah. I don't think I stuterd." Ryujin shook his head his voice stern but his eyes holding a subtle gentleness. " We. Were. Once. a. Yakuza. Clan."

He spelled out, before continuing.

"In fact were one of the oldest yakuza clans. We Once terrorised this nation. Held wealth beyond what you could possibly imagine. Manipulate historical events to our advantage. Ended entire eras and put kings on their thrones." Ryujin blinked. "That is our past, the truth of our clan."

Tatsu stood their digesting what he had just heard. He didn't know what to say or how to react.

"And are we still yakuza?." He decided to ask. I mean he knows they are hero's in the family but that could just be a cover up.

"Nah." Ryujin waved his hand. "That's a beygone era. A dream that has long been forgotten. Before we were a yakuza clan we were simply just an ordinary clan. We became yakuza to adapt to a new era. And we shed our yakuza skin to adapt to a new era. This era. We're a hero clan."

"So why tell me of this? If it's in the past."

"To know that path you must take, you must first know that path you've already tooken." Ryujin's voice was no longer stern, but a gentle, lullaby like tone.

"Now what else do I need to explain to you." He was squating once more appearing smaller. " Ah yes division. Division is a group among our clan. Think of it as a secret service filled up with elites that answer to me."

"You must have realised by now that while our family obeys laws. We are never truly punished by sovereign governments and courts if we break those laws." He continued. "That because of the power we hold over economies, securities, technology.. you get the point. Their laws are essentially pointless but we have our own set of laws that are enforced by the Division."

Tatsu nodded. Of course he realised his family has never realy been persocuted despite some of his relatives participating in some rather…..illegal activities.

"Anyways. I'm telling you this now because your about to get your tattos." Ryunjin stated. "And as such you have two choices continue on the path your already on. Or begin training to become apart of division."

"Would a quirkless realy be allowed to join such an elite task force?~" Tatsu asked jokingly.

"Since the era of quirks started you're the first member of the clan to be quirkless so there is technically no rule against you joining." The head smiled. "Even if they was if you really wanted to join I'm sure I could make an exception for my great grandchild."

The atmosphere that had become heavy when the yakuza revelation was dropped was no more. Long since gone replaced with a humours, wholesome one.

"*chuckle* is that how you get people to join division?" Tatsu questioned.

"Yep. The tattoo ceremony is scared. It is the pathway to connect with our belies." He started. Referring to them following Shintoism. " So as such we place this important decision before the youth who receive their tattos. Though it's not the only possible way to join division you can join even in you later years after you do the required traing."

"I see." The younger one nodded. "And what's with these tattoos. I've been wondering for ages!?!?!!!"

To that Hiashi, Yuki and Keiko laughed. They knew how adamant he was to find this out. After all for the past years he's been nagging them practically everyday to find out.

"Their a mark of our clan." Ryujin started. "It's a way to tell if someone is one of us or not. On the surface they look like ordinary tattos but those in the know are easily able to tell regular tattoos apart from ours."

"Those in the know." Tatsu slowly repeated.

"Yes. Our clan, enemies of our clan, allies of our clan." Ryujin explained. " Thoes who are neither allies nor enemies but one way or another have knowledge about us."

"Makes sense." Tatsu shrugged, before asking. " You said they also help connect with our beliefs or something like that?"

"Mhm. We're shintoists. Have been since the foundation of our clan." Ryujin said. " You don't have to believe in it if you don't wish. Their are a few in the clan who don't. So don't think you have to follow our beliefs. However, the tattoos are a non-negotiable."

"Fair enough." Tatsu nodded. If the Shinto deities existed or not, didn't realy matter to him.

"Now it's time." Ryujin said. His head motioned towards the other three in the room who have been silently observing.cauing them to surround him.

Ryujin stayed infront of him while Hiashi was on his left, Yuki on his right and Keiko behind him. Hiashi's gaze was serious probably the most serious he had ever seen. Yuki's eyes were filled to the brimm with worry but that was betrayed by the warm, gentle Motherly smile on her face. Keiko had a look of worry in her face not just the eyes like Yuki but her entire face was swelled with it.

"This is going to hurt." Ryujin said an apologetic look on his face. "I'm sorry."

He was grabbed on all sides unable to move. Their girl was rough, hard. Using power he's never before received from any of them.

*Btzzzz* *Hshsshh*

Lighting flickered around Ryujins right arm before it was engulfed in flames. Black, brown, yellow, purple, pink, blue, red etc. it had very colour flowing within those flames

Slowly he reached forward towards Tatsu's head. His gaze steady yet still apologetic. He sounded devastated as he briefly whispered "I'm sorry." Once again.

"ARRRGH!!!!SHHHHHH!Gahhh!!"

Pain erupted from every facet of his being. As the fire consumed him. Engulfing his entire body. He felt it spread around him. Burning him. He Felt as though if hell existed these flames were certainly from its deepest crevice. He couldn't think, talk even blink. The pain was overwhelming.

"Grrrr.Tsssa." He sealed his mouth as to not scream but even that didn't work grunts and growls escaped his mouth His body started thrashing but was held down.

*Crack*

A crack was heard as Tatsu's head blasted backwards hitting Keiko in the nose and sending her back off of him. The sight caused Ryujin to squint.

"Keiko!" Yuki called out.

Tatsu's thrashing became worse. He seemed to be a wild possesed beast. His left knee found its self imbedded into his father's ….most prized part. Causing him to stagger back a bit.

"Little shit." He cursed under his breath.

Tatsu barged right pushing his mother of him and causing her to fall on the ground. Tatsu still with flames all around him started wizzing across the room.

*Bang* *Bang* *Boom*

He speed was astounding hitting into the pillars with enough force to crack them. His flames were no longer as prominent and his speed and behaviour was also slowly fading.

Before then, he sped toward the throne, more percissly what was behind it. The tiny shrine.

As he neared a flash of fire appears infront of him. Ryujin stood there blocking his path grabbing the out of control Tatsu by his scruff.

"Can't let you attack the shrine." Ryujin shook his head. Before his eyes went wide look at Tatsu who had passed out. He slowly placed him down.

"Is he alright?" Came Hiashi's voice. He stood along side his wife and Keiko, who had recovered. Worry was evident amongst all their faces.

Ryujin ignored them reaching down he took Tatsu's shirt of. What he saw cause his eyes to shimmer with understanding and a wide smile to bloom on his face.

"That tattoo….." Keiko wishperd softly.

"Scales…. A koi fish like keiko's? No it's too long." Yuki muttered looking at the coiling servant like body coiling around her sons arm and disappearing behind his shoulder blade.

"Old man…" Hiashi called out seeing the expression on Ryujin's face.

"The tattoos you gain are a symbol of your self." Ryujin began. He knew that they knew this. However he still explained for dramatic effect. " It's why you Hiashi. Someone so stong. Proud. Protective. Got a lion tattoo."

"Or you Yuki gaining a Ice symbol reflecting your quirk and the cold exterior you once had." He chuckle slightly at that, as he saw Yuki annoyed expression. " Or you keiko someone who's love for her younger brother (Tatsu) knows no bonds, who's strength is great despite your age. Gained a koi tattoo symbolising your love and bravery."

"However there a tattoo that is gained through something much different then your quirk or your personality….. a tattoo that is very rare to acquire." Ryujin lifted Tatsu's body up showing the head of the tattoos body. "A dragon."
