Miss Witch Doesn't Want to be a Diva

Chapter 13: Chapter 7 Quiet Time (Thanks to the Alliance Hierarch of Yinfeng Tingsnow)_2

"Let's quiet down." Hexia said to the noisy children, feeling a bit overwhelmed yet powerless.

Fortunately, a few of them were quite obedient, or perhaps they admired Hexia for the impressive figure she had left them with.

Seeing that some of the children had finally settled down, Hexia also brought them to the living room to sit together. The floor had been covered with mats, so there was no worry about dirtying their clothes.

"Let's talk about what you've learned so far," Hexia began.

"We learned..." The children started to say, babbling over each other, and slowly Hexia got a general understanding of their progress.

Phew, thankfully, it was all within her grasp; elementary school subjects weren't that complex.

However, considering the varying pace of the children, Hexia had them start with their homework, then slowly reviewed their notes, previous test papers and grades, gradually clarifying each child's situation.

Lisha's grades were quite good, ranked about third among them. Second was a boy named Guy, also one of the four children from that day, and the first was somewhat unfamiliar, named Sandi, the child with glasses who had said he was an honors student earlier.

Sandi was in the top tier, with excellent marks, nearly full scores in every subject. Lisha and Guy were more or less on the same level, in the second tier, and both were quite intelligent. The other three children were a bit more mediocre, each with their own academic weaknesses.

Having organized the information, Hexia started tutoring them one by one. Instead of starting with their weaker subjects, she began by teaching the subjects in which each child was stronger, so they could capitalize on their strengths and achieve better results.

Even though Hexia wasn't very skilled in social interaction, she had indeed studied a lot in academics. That was why she could rise above the poor educational resources and attain excellent results.

In today's society, due to specialization, there was actually more need for people with distinct talents. After all, a person's energy is limited, and being mediocre across the board was not a very good choice.

The ultimate goal of learning was to apply it in practice; of course, at this stage for these children, the focus was still on getting good comprehensive scores to gain admission to good schools. By making them perform even better in their strong subjects, they could build confidence, establish a foothold among their peers, and maintain self-confidence, so as not to feel entirely inferior. Also, as they were already skilled in those subjects, making progress could be easier.

Building on that foundation, then turning back to supplement their weaker subjects, because of the experience of progressing in their stronger areas, they would feel more confident and persistent, and wouldn't give up so easily.

Moreover, based on the psychology of completion, facing a pattern that is almost completely filled prompts more motivation to perfect it; but facing a pattern that is severely incomplete and disordered, because it looks too troublesome, there is little confidence or motivation to complete it.

Over the following days, Hexia tutored the six children at home, as they didn't have to go to school during the holidays.

One day, Sandi came up to Hexia with a problem.

"Sister Tilan, how should I solve this problem?"

"This?" The young girl brushed the hair from her forehead behind her ear and looked closely at the problem.

"This shouldn't be part of your current curriculum," Hexia noted, realizing this was something typically encountered in middle school.

"But next term, I'm going to participate in a competition, and this is the material my teacher helped me find," said Sandi.

"Entering competitions in elementary school, huh? That's really..." Hexia shook her head, neither commenting on nor judging whether it was appropriate.

The topic involves a middle rank formula related to the Natural Sequence, as well as the special Branding developed from this formula, which should be learned when advancing from Sequence 1 to Sequence 2.

The Transcendent Core of Sequence 1 is quite simple, essentially a small sphere of light gathering magic power of the same Sequence. It then operates according to 7-9 formulaic patterns to maintain stability, possessing the most basic ability to store and output Aijieka Particles.

Sequence 2 is much more complex, roughly requiring 8-20 Brandings to maintain, each Branding consisting of 3-12 different formulas; the overall workload is 10-30 times that of Sequence 1, with a complexity that soars exponentially.

Therefore, Hexia being acknowledged as an excellent student for advancing to Sequence 2 before graduating from junior high was no small feat, as such students account for less than 10% of the population, with about two-thirds only advancing to Sequence 2 during high school.

Although the complexity and workload significantly increase, starting from Sequence 2, true transcendent abilities are bestowed upon life, such as Hexia being able to see ghosts, perceive and look through ordinary materials to detect what lies behind, and even convert the magic power of the Withering Sequence through special formulas to make it lethal, among other things.

If Hexia were to advance to Withering Sequence 3, her various abilities would be further enhanced. For instance, her Detection Perception Ability, which previously could only scan a range of around 50 meters, would expand to 100-160 meters upon advancement, and her High Sequence core could support her in starting to use some offensive methods, such as 'Serpent Pupil Deterrence,' 'Mental Spike,' and so on.

If she were given a gun, her Detection Perception Ability could be used to lock onto targets and link with firearms, greatly increasing her shooting accuracy. However, such tactics are generally military methods and not taught in a regular high school.

Amidst the simulated sounds of waves crashing and the Sunshine, Hexia sat at the table, incessantly writing down formulas. The black ink sketched intricate and beautiful trajectories that were aesthetically pleasing, even to laymen.

"Finally, gather the vine leaf formula at the tail of the Branding, connecting its trajectory to the origin, forming a complete closed loop. Do you understand?" she lifted her head, and her soft black hair framed pale blue eyes that were like the sky, serious and comforting.

"I... I understand," Sandi for the first time felt a bit flustered and turned away, not daring to meet those eyes.

How could she be so beautiful, Tilan's charm seems to have grown even stronger.

"Do you really understand? It's alright if you don't, it is quite complicated, I can explain it again," the dark-haired girl felt that the boy might be putting on a brave face.

"It's okay, I'll figure it out myself," suddenly not wanting to admit his weakness, or perhaps wanting to seem more capable, Sandi took the materials and hurried back to his corner.

Hmm? The girl tilted her head slightly, somewhat puzzled, but at this moment, the other children gathered around her again.

Studying time is precious indeed, that's the recent sentiment among the children.

At the beginning, they were not very hopeful about Hexia's teaching, thinking it would be as mundane as with previous teachers, just explaining topics or giving answers and that would be it.

But having spent these days together, the seemingly ornamental beauty of a girl had won them over. Children are such that they either look down on everyone or idolize someone completely, taking their idols' words as gospel. Right now, Hexia was in the latter stage with them.

"Hexia sister, this one, this one, explain it to me first,"

"Don't listen to him, this is my house, Hexia sister obviously has to explain to me first," Lisha waved her homework and papers, squeezing past her usual best friend and partner in crime.

"Okay, okay, don't rush, one at a time,"

Hexia kneels on the floor, looking at the children in front of her, finding them both adorable and amusing, as life became more peaceful and serene.
