Chapter 413 - 413: Upgrade Competition
Chapter 413: Chapter 413: Upgrade Competition
Li Yao logged off again to rest, then came back online fully refreshed.
Although it’s referred to as refurbishing, it’s tantamount to creating anew. Besides the mechanical core, most other components required fresh materials to properly upgrade.
Li Yao’s only concern was that he hadn’t found something akin to the Flame Emblem that would allow the Death God 4000’s core to evolve.
Li Yao’s only reliance was the high quality materials and some elements retrieved from relics that he couldn’t produce himself.
Of course, Li Yao knew that as long as he replaced the materials, the odds of Death God 4000 becoming a mid-level boss were high. His main concern was not obtaining useful skills.
Since he had the Spider Tank Blueprint, Li Yao’s concept for Death God 4000 became a warehouse with distant firepower, similar to that of a hunter’s job.
While Li Yao was busy with the puppet production, other players were not idling. As they approached level 20, everyone was in a rush to prepare.
They were mainly preparing for the level 20 mainline dungeon. Now, it was common knowledge among players that the new dungeon was for a team of 25.
All guilds were adjusting their settings and storing up equipment.
However, it was quite challenging since most equipment now was only level 10.
Level 15 equipment was very scarce thus some guilds even arranged specialized teams to kill regular level 20 beasts to procure the small chance of obtaining good level 20 equipment.
This was the advantage of big guilds. Their core teams had various resource supplies, leveled up with ease, and even had dedicated personnel to gather information about new dungeons and understand the Centaur situation.
Some guilds even went to the West Continent to join in the war against the Centaurs.
The players’ levels are too low to take part in such a war. They could only perform simple tasks, which were still very dangerous.
In order to obtain more information about the Centaurs, many guilds placed their best people there. Although they were not part of the core teams, they were still very skilled.
The level 10 mainline dungeon had upset many guilds. They didn’t believe they were incapable but thought of it as giving Li Yao an advantage.
The carnival had left them in the dark about the dungeon. Now they were well equipped, and every guild wanted to show Li Yao that he couldn’t compete with their underlying strength.
The recent establishment of the Starfire Guild and the preceding invisible conflicts made many guilds feel threatened by Starfire.
Especially after receiving intel that Prairie Fire was looking to contest for the first kill of the highest difficulty, and was preparing some secret weapon, the guilds became more anxious.
Under such a threat, the guilds would certainly not sit idly.
Compared to other guilds, the pace at Starfire Guild did not change. The regular members were still systematically busy with guild tasks, preparing for guild residence.
The core team was busy leveling up. The guild had basically chosen 25 people for the task. In fact, almost 40 people were chosen, and the rest were substitutes.
The large team of 40 divided into eight groups were busy leveling up without sleeping or eating. Thanks to the leveling guide provided by Li Yao, they had arrived at the sandbar and were clearing out some monsters while understanding the situation.
As for the information about the Centaurs, Starfire Guild had only collected some symbolically.
People outside saw that the Starfire Guild did not want to compete for the first kill, but instead invested most of their energy into preparing for the Guild residence.
However, the actual situation was indeed the case. Other Guilds thought this was just a smoke screen from Starfire and did not relax their vigilance in the slightest.
Li Yao was busy working while his sister watched and voiced her concern: “There are only 40 people currently striving for the mainline dungeon. Is this going to work? Other large guilds have mobilized hundreds of people to prepare for the dungeon. Additionally, we don’t have much information about the Centaurs.”
Li Yao was currently making weapons for Death God 4000 when he spoke, “Don’t worry, my tutor is the Queen. She told me about the situation of the new dungeon. This is a special tribe of Centaurs. They just don’t realize that all their work is in vain.”
“Why didn’t you say this earlier? If we have information from the Queen, our chances would increase significantly.” Li Yao’s sister was visibly relieved.
Li Yao gave a wry smile. The Queen only mentioned a sentence, she wouldn’t give away precise information even if she knew it, let alone tell him. He was just using the Queen as an excuse, but it was a very useful shield.
“Yes, right now the core team has already leveled up to 18 in that area.” said Li Yao’s sister, “Have you researched any good places for leveling up?”
“They are working hard indeed, very fast.” Li Yao looked stunned.
“We don’t have an analyst or strategist in our Guild, only yourself. They also understand this situation, so they can’t afford not to work hard.” said Li Yao’s sister. “They even use their nights to level up, now they’re basically on par with the large guilds, but I can’t keep up with the progress, so I won’t participate in this expedition.”
Li Yao nodded and said, “There is a volcano eruption point with lots of lava at the sandbar. Send a fast-moving teammate to lure the Murlocs near the sea outlet to the lava. Although the Murlocs are over level 20, with the help of the lava, it’s no problem for the team to clear them out.”
Li Yao’s sister’s eyes brightened, “That’s possible? This way, we might be able to gather a bit of level 20 equipment.”
“Yes, it’s no problem for everyone to level up to 20 there.” said Li Yao.
“Good, I’ll immediately notify the Fruit Knight.” Li Yao’s sister couldn’t wait to share the news.
“Wait, after you’ve notified them, take care of some guild matters and clear some time for tomorrow.” Li Yao suddenly had an idea.
Li Yao’s sister blinked her eyes in confusion, “What’s up?”
“I need some materials to upgrade the Hydra, and you can come with me. This way, you won’t fall behind. Your mage skills are so good. Among the substitutes, aside from Mu Zi, no one can match you.” Li Yao explained.
“That would be great, but wouldn’t it delay your progress?” Li Yao’s sister hesitated.
“How could it? The place I’m going to, I need your help.” said Li Yao.
“Ok then, I will free up some time tomorrow and experience what it’s like to level up at lightning speed.” Li Yao’s sister happily left; she never intended to give up the chance to join the expedition.
Li Yao shook his head, his sister had indeed put all her energy into the guild, how could he let her down.
Then he continued to create Death God 4000. Once that was completed, he would likely be at level 20 in which case, he wouldn’t be able to use it anymore. So Li Yao decided to upgrade his level first.
Otherwise, he would lose his place as number one on the leaderboard. And at level 20, the Hydra would once again evolve another head, that required loads of attribute materials….
PS: Due to constraints, I will catch up little by little. Sigh, I don’t even dare to ask for votes anymore. Feels bad.
