Chapter 23: New Lawsuit on the Horizon!

Risa: “Why did you help me?” She asked with a confused tone and expression.

Monia: “Should I have not helped you out?” She asked in reply.

Risa: “No… it’s just that… I kidnapped you.” She replied with a remorseful tone.

Monia: “Risa, tell me right now… In this life, will you ever let me escape you?” She said with a serious tone.

Pri: “…”

Sia: “…”

Risa: “Even if you’ll hate me for it… I will keep you by my side forever.” She answered with the truth.

Monia: “And with your money and power, running away would be extremely hard, and hiding from you is impossible.” She said with a sigh.

Risa: “…”

Monia: “Regardless of my feelings, I am now fully tied to you. A sinking ship isn’t something that I wish to be aboard, so, of course, I will help you out when I can.” She continued with a smile.

Risa’s heart was going crazy at the moment, and her mind was muddled from seeing such a beautiful smile from Monia being presented to her. “It’s possible… Monia seems like she will give me a chance, so I just have to take it. Eventually… she will be mine by her choice, and not by me forcing her. But… I need to calm down, and take this slow.” She thought with an excited tone.

Risa: “I see… Monia, I need to go visit my parents for a bit. After all, the world seems to think them dead.” She explained. “Luckily, Eric hasn’t left for China yet.” She happily thought.

Monia: “Okay. Go clear your name. I’ll just be here.” She replied.

Risa: “You’ll be here? Don’t you wish to go somewhere else?” She asked with a raised eyebrow, momentarily forgetting that she had kidnapped Monia, and restricted her freedom.

Monia: “Oh? You say that as if I have a choice.” She said with a hearty laugh.

Risa: “…”

She felt a pang of regret for restricting Monia’s freedom, but she won’t let her free yet. Only when that woman’s heart, mind, body, and soul are hers… will Monia regain her freedom. Reluctantly, she left Monia’s room, and left her estate as well.

Soon, within just a few hours, Risa was able to prove that her parents were alive and well, dispelling all the silly rumors. Taking to her seldomly used social media account, Risa had promised that legal action will be taken against the news agencies that reported this completely false story.

Ring!

Carter: “Calling me to gloat about the successful story, Bern? Remember… I didn’t give you that information for free, and I require payment now.” He asked with a smug tone after answering the call.

Bern: “Payment!? Carter, you lying rat!” He angrily replied.

Carter: “…”

Bern: “Staying silent? Why the hell did you lie to me?… Journalist integrity is extremely important for my news agencies. And now… that is all out the window! And… if that wasn’t enough… your sister is suing me!!” He exclaimed.

Carter: “Suing you? But you should have some good lawyers, right?” He nervously asked.

Bern: “Good lawyers? Carter, with my respect for you telling the truth, I did not run the stories with any sort of plausible deniability. Each of them stated that Risa Granda had done all of those things, not alleging them…” He explained.

Carter: “…”

Bern: “Was this a plan to ruin me, Carter? Fuck… it doesn’t matter anymore. Lose this number! I have to go fight a losing legal battle, thanks to you. Ah, my life is over…” He sorrowfully said before hanging up the call.

Carter was confused… How did this plan of his turn completely in his sister’s favor? Glancing at the news, he realized that Monia, the woman that Risa kidnapped, had covered his sister for the kidnapping. “Fuck… that was supposed to be the nail in Risa’s coffin…” Carter’s thoughts were dreadful. He wasn’t worried about ruining his friend. Rather, he was extremely fearful about Risa suing him for this as well. After all, the information came directly from him, and Carter didn’t even try to hide his connection…
