Multiverse's Ghost Rider

Chapter 61: Ch. 60: Men in Black Headquarters

"From Earth?!" Agent J's incredulity was palpable as he rolled his eyes, a smirk playing on his lips. "Ha! I've never seen an Earthling covered in fire, let alone a skeleton covered in fire!"

Apparently, J saw Jon's Spirit of Vengeance form before Jon could return to his human form. Jon's Spirit of Vengeance, an ethereal entity that seemed to defy the laws of nature. The sight was so surreal that it was almost comical, yet the gravity of the situation was far from a laughing matter.

Jon, unfazed by J's skepticism, shrugged nonchalantly. "Whether you believe it or not, in fact, I am a native of Earth."

J's frown deepened, his eyes narrowing as he studied Jon. After a moment of contemplation, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a pair of handcuffs. With a swift flick of his wrist, he tossed them to Jon. "Put the handcuffs on!" he ordered, his voice echoing in the silent restaurant.

Jon caught the handcuffs effortlessly, his gaze never leaving J's. He had anticipated this moment, had prepared for it. He had been tracking the fat man, his mind constantly churning out a series of action plans. Two of his side tasks were related to the MIB HQ, and he knew he had to go there anyway.

Moreover, the MIB HQ was a treasure trove of high-technology weapons, and Jon was eager to get his hands on some. The technology in this world was even more advanced than Iron Man's, and he was intrigued by the possibilities it presented.

As Jon clasped the handcuffs around his wrists, they suddenly glowed blue and automatically tightened, securing his hands together. J pulled out a remote control button and held it up for Jon to see.

"See, this thing is specially designed to deal with alien scum like you," he said, his tone laced with a hint of satisfaction. "As soon as I press this button, the handcuffs will emit a laser and cut off your hand, so you'd better be calm and come back to the headquarters with me, do you understand?"

"Okay, sir!" Jon responded, his voice dripping with sarcasm as he shrugged.

J immediately stepped forward, pushing Jon towards the door. As they stepped outside, Jon saw an isolation zone set up not far from the restaurant. A crowd had gathered around two large black cars, their eyes wide with curiosity and fear. Among them were several staff members in suits, their faces stern as they worked to maintain order.

These quarantined people were the ones who had just eaten in the restaurant and witnessed the true appearance of Wu. The staff in black suits were the staff of the MIB HQ, and they were gathered here for one purpose only - to erase their memories of aliens.

"These things have nothing to do with you, move quickly!" J ordered, pushing Jon towards the car.

Jon's compliance was unsettling to J. He knew Jon was capable of resisting, of causing chaos. He had seen him take down numerous aliens single-handedly. Yet, he was following orders, and that made J uneasy.

Once they reached the car, J turned to Jon. "Get in the car and don't play tricks with me. I have to do something!"

With that, J walked towards the crowd in the isolation zone. He exchanged a few words with one of the agents, who nodded and left. Then, he turned to face the crowd, clearing his throat.

"Good afternoon, everyone!" Agent J said, his voice relaxed. "Please pay attention to what I am saying!"

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a pair of sunglasses, slipping them on. Then, he took out a mechanical device that looked complicated in workmanship.

"Now I want to show you an electronic biomechanical, neutron emission reconfiguration device, which we call the Neuralyzer."

The device he held was a classic prop in the Men in Black series, the Neuralyzer, capable of erasing specific memories in an instant.

"Okay, now! Everyone, please look here." J said, holding the Neuralyzer in front of everyone. A white light flashed, and everyone was momentarily stunned. When they came to, all memories of their dinner in the restaurant and their encounter with Wu had vanished.

J removed his sunglasses and addressed the crowd. "When you were eating, some scum suddenly wanted to break in and rob your wallet. But please don't worry, that scumbag has been arrested, but in order to cooperate with the investigation, the restaurant needs to be temporarily sealed, so you can go to another restaurant."

After his speech, J pivoted on his heel, leaving the crowd behind as he strode towards his car. His words were not merely a distraction, but a carefully crafted narrative designed to fill the void left by the Neuralyzer. The device had wiped their memories clean, leaving a blank canvas for J to paint a new, harmless memory.

Soon, J and Jon arrived at a peculiar building. From the front, it appeared as a towering stone wall, devoid of windows, with only a double door as its entrance. It was nestled under the Holland Tunnel Ventilator Shaft on Battery Place, on the northern edge of Battery Park, at the southern tip of Manhattan. A clever disguise employed by the MIB HQ to keep their operations hidden from prying eyes.

J led Jon through the door, revealing a narrow corridor that ended with an elevator. A black man sat beside the corridor, engrossed in a newspaper. Upon seeing J and Jon, he looked up and greeted, "Hey, J!"

J acknowledged him with a nod, and the man turned his attention to Jon. "Which planet are you from?"

"Earth," Jon replied, his voice steady.

"If you say so..." the man responded, his interest waning as he returned to his newspaper.

J guided Jon to the elevator at the end of the corridor and pressed the button for their floor. The elevator hummed to life, and soon the doors slid open to reveal a stark contrast to the simple corridor they had left behind.

The room was a technological marvel, a closed, large space with a strong sense of three-dimensionality. It was constructed from an unknown white material, and both sides of the room were lined with workbenches filled with high-tech supercomputers. Staff members sat at these stations, engrossed in their tasks.

It resembled a reception hall, but the guests it catered to were far from ordinary. They were aliens.

"Wow~! This is truly spectacular!" Jon exclaimed, his eyes wide as he took in the sight before him.

He watched as various aliens were welcomed, their information registered, and human disguises applied. Each alien was asked a series of questions, such as "Which planet are you from?" and "Why have you come to Earth?"

"Yes, but this place is not for entertaining you, scumbag!" J retorted, giving Jon a shove to keep him moving forward. His tone was stern, a reminder that Jon was not a guest here, but a detainee.
