My accidental isekai life as a Plunderer

Chapter 79: Chapter 78: Talk With Freid

While Rihito explained the situation to Hajime. On the other side.

Tio fighting against Uranos midway transformed into her dragon form, wanting to finish the fight using a single decisive attack.

"GUuRURURURU!!!"

Roaring at Uranos she charges her dragon breath.

Uranos saw this, roared back with equal ferocity and started to charge his own breath.

After finishing charging their breath, they unleashed powerful attacks; Tio's purple breath clashed against Uranos's white breath, creating a dazzling spectacle.

Boom!!

Yue watched from the side as the two breaths clashed. At first, the breaths seemed equal in power, but as time passed, Tio's purple breath started to overpower Uranos, directly hitting him.

Boom!!

Yue watched the injured white dragon fall and crash onto a rock, still alive. She noticed the dragon struggling to rise but was unable to do so because of its injury. It tried to rise and glanced toward the spot where his master was, before losing consciousness.

Yue ignored the dragon for now and flew near Tio.

"Are you alright," Yue asked.

Tio, taking a breath, answered, "I am alright. I am just exhausted." When she returned to her human form, the exhaustion was clearly visible.

Yue seeing her alright pointed at Uranos, "Should we finish him."

Tio thought about it momentarily, "Let's wait for Hajime and Rihito to come. For now, let's regroup with others."

Hajime heard everything that happened on Rihito's side except the part where that sick bastard wanted his body.

"So, what do you think," I asked explaining what I planned to do.

Hajime thought momentarily and asked, "What would you do if he got brainwashed again? If that happens your plan will collapse."

"Yeah, I know," I replied, already anticipating his questions.

I looked at unconscious Freid, "I will put a mental barrier on him, which should let him resist the mental probs from the bastard. But still, if that bastard brainwashes Freid again and makes him stand against us, then I will deal with him permanently." Rihito's tone became serious saying that.

"But that's the worst-case scenario. I discovered this guy's personality suggests he'd rather take his own life than become a puppet again."

"..."

"Alright," Hajime nodded and agreed with Rihito.

"Hajime, while I fix up this guy can you check if that white dragon is still alive? If it's alive, don't let it die. If that dragon is alive, it will be a lot easier to negotiate with this guy."

"Fine," saying that Hajime jumped away.

Freid feeling the pain all over his body finally woke up, groaning.

Just as he opened his eyes, he felt an intense pain in his head.

"Ugh!"

After writhing in pain for a few dozen minutes Freid finally understands his situation. He was brainwashed and ordered to do countless atrocious things in the name of purging traitors who were the same people who had agreed with his sentiments of stopping the war.

"Hah… hah… hah… W-what have I done," shaking and panting Freid muttered.

His voice was heartbreaking: "Why did this happen? I didn't want this…"

"Are you done?"

Freid, reminiscing, heard a cold, neutral voice behind him that sounded familiar. Hearing that voice, Freid's combat instincts kicked in as he remembered his current situation.

I watched as Freid writhed around for minutes, and then he went still, probably his mind was taking a trip through the memory lane.

Rihito waited 30 more minutes for Freid to come to his senses, but seeing it would take longer, he intervened.

"Are you done?"

"..."

Freid took a defensive posture, looking at me and silently observing my every move. Noticing that I didn't attack while he was wide open, he asked, "Why? Why didn't you kill me? Why are you leaving me alive?"

"Why am I still alive after all have i done…"

Saying the last line his voice changes with emotions of hate, helplessness, despair and more negative feelings.

I looked at Freid with a neutral expression. "Why, you ask? Because it is beneficial for us. I have determined that keeping you alive is in our best interest."

I paused letting him process my words, after a sufficient amount of time passed, I spoke again, "By now you should have realised that you have been under the control of your so-called god."

Hearing that, Freid's expression twisted into anger.

Freid clearly remembered what he had been doing under that god's control. All the people he had dealt with in the name of that god, recalling those memories he clenched his fist so hard it started to bleed.

At this moment, Freid wanted to rage out. But he didn't. He controlled himself and asked, "What do you want?"

Hearing those words that I wanted to hear, I took my mask off, and with a smile, I said, "I have a deal for you, which I am sure you will be happy to accept."

..

.

After explaining what Rihito wanted him to do, Freid contemplated the plan he was told, thinking it through, and said, "If I understood correctly, you want me to clear the way for you so you can deal with the rest."

"Simple right," Rihito nodded.

"I want you to evacuate all the demons who don't want to continue the war."

Freid hearing those words directly from my mouth suspiciously asked, "Why do you want to help us, don't you guys hate us demons."

I looked at Freid with a disinterested look, "Hate you guys, not really, to tell you the truth we don't really care about the war demons and the humans of this world were fighting. You guys can fight till one side gets extinct and I still won't care, but that damned god of yours wants to make us suffer just so he can be entertained." My face darkened saying that part.

"You know I really wanted to nuke the royal palace of demons. If only all of you demons were the warmongering type it would have been a lot easier."

"..."

Freid didn't understand what the human meant by 'nuke,' but based on the way he said it, he guessed it must not be anything good.

"So, you see helping you makes things easier for me. This way you will be able to save many of your demon kin to safety before our inevitable fight against that bastard. I am sure you do not want the innocent bystanders to be the collateral damage in our fight. So, it's up to you to see to it that your people survive."

Freid looked at Rihito with widened eyes, "You people want to fight that god. Are you crazy? Do you even understand what are you saying, that's a god."

Freid, who had been brainwashed and worked under that god more than anyone else, understands how foolish it is to fight against that god. Fighting is futile; the only option is to run and hide where no one can find you, just as the liberators once did.

Looking at Freid whose face said are you crazy, Rihito responded nonchalantly, "Don't sweat it, we have our ways. Whether to believe it or not it's up to you. You just have to do your part and we all are good."

Hearing everything this human said, Freid contemplated the deal deeply. He saw no flaws in the proposal; rejecting it seemed foolish. If they won the meaningless war, it could come to an end, allowing them to live in peace. However, if they lost, he could gather everyone and find a place to hide where that god's influence would not reach them.

Pondering his options it became obvious to him what his answer should be.

"I accept…"

Just as he said that he heard a crashing noise behind him.

Thud!!
