22. My Little Sister is Angry
That day, Lye looked in a bad mood. She spoke little and had a bad expression, and for some reason, she was quietly glaring at me.
Then, when she makes eye contact with me, she blatantly looks away.
"Lye."
Did something unpleasant happen outside? Even when eating dinner, she didn't even smile. Thanks to this, the dining atmosphere was not that good.
Mom and Lye are both busy people. The opportunity to eat together like this is not common. Even if something makes you angry, it would be nice to be patient at times like this.
Lye was chewing her rice with a dissatisfied expression the whole time.
"Did you two fight?"
My mother, who found such a Lye attitude strange, asked.
"No."
I shook my head. Because I've never had a fight with a Lye, but Lye didn't seem to think so.
"Lye!"
Lye put down the spoon and went back to her room. Normally, she eats a very small amount of food, but today, she barely touched it.
If she did this, it really seemed like she was somehow dissatisfied with me. My mother, who was watching from the side, seemed to think so too.
"Oh my goodness. You really fought?"
"Fight… I don't know?"
I don't know what made her like this, but yeah, it doesn't mean there wasn't anything to point out. Recently, under my older sister's orders, I've been keeping my distance from Lye.
In particular, before going to her competition, my older sister said that I had to keep promises to maintain distance from my little sister.
Thanks to this, I no longer have to talk to Lye first. Even when Lye spoke first, my answer was almost short. If she tried to touch me, I would make an excuse and run away.
Lye probably thought I had become cold for no reason. That might be why she's so angry that she's ignoring me.
"I don't know what's going on, but please do something about it. She rarely have time to relax, so when she come home, she get even more spoiled, it's bad."
Mom's words stuck in my heart. Lye is an idol. Idols must always smile even when something unpleasant happens. You must always pay attention to even the smallest actions. Because people are always watching. The only time she can rest is when she returns home.
However, even after coming home, she may have been stressed because I was neglectful.
"Hm, Let me talk about it."
My mom smiled happily when she saw me like that. After finishing my meal, I sat on the sofa and watched TV.
This is to see the highlights of the competition where my older sister appears.
These days, I can easily watch it on a PC or smartphone, but it feels different from watching it on a large-screen TV.
Even when watching dramas that my mother appeared in or programs that featured Lye, I always tended to watch them on TV.
Lye has been hanging around me since a while ago, and Lye continued to be in a bad mood even after eating. However, instead of just staying in the room, she walked around the living room with a distressed look on her face. Plus, she was glaring at me from time to time, so I couldn't help but pay attention.
"Uh, Lye?"
Although I was hesitant, I spoke first.
"What?"
Then Lye glared at me with scary eyes.
"No, it's nothing."
For some reason, I had nothing to say, so I ended up saying nothing.
Lye seems even angrier and stomps into the room. Then, she returned to the living room again.
Then she sat down in the corner of the sofa where I was sitting.
"… … ."
"… … ."
Silence hurts.
The only sound coming from the TV was echoing in the living room.
After all, I should speak first, right?
Even though I was thinking like that, words didn't come out easily.
Is it because we haven't had a conversation for a few days? I also had a promise with my older sister, but even if it wasn't, I felt uncomfortable talking about it for some reason.
While I couldn't do this or that, Lye stood up from her seat.
Is she tired and going back to her room?
I secretly breathed a sigh of relief, thinking that I could finally rest.
But instead of returning to the room, Lye came towards me.
And this time, instead of the sofa, she lowered her butt onto my lap.
