My Angel Girl

Chapter 134: Bring Your Kid To Work Day

The cold, sulfur-scented air of Hell never bothered Kikidori. In fact, he had grown used to it over the centuries, the harsh heat, the unrelenting firestorms, and the cries of damned souls all blending into the background of his existence. But today was different. Today, he had to go to one of those damn *meetings* that Lucifer loved to hold. It wasn't even a particularly important one, but the fact that it was being led by *Lucifer* himself meant it had to be attended.

Kikidori was more than prepared to ignore most of the conversation, zoning out and letting his mind wander, but there was one small, unexpected factor today—Kael.

"Dad, why are we going to a stupid meeting?" Kael asked, his small feet tapping against the floor of the Hell's transport carriage. Despite his young age, he had inherited Kikidori's restless energy.

"Because," Kikidori grumbled, resting his elbow on the edge of the seat, "Lucifer called it. And if Lucifer calls it, you show up. Or else."

Kael tilted his head. "Or else what?"

"Hell breaks loose," Kikidori said with a grin, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

Kael frowned, trying to understand. "Is that literal?"

Kikidori just shrugged. "Sometimes. Most of the time, though, it's just one big waste of time."

Kael looked skeptical. "But if it's so boring, why are we going?"

"Because your mother told me to," Kikidori replied, giving him a pointed look.

Kael's eyes widened. "Mom told you to go?"

"Yeah," Kikidori muttered. "She's the one who's into following all the damn rules around here. I'm just along for the ride."

Kael was about to say something else when the carriage finally stopped, jolting them both. The door to the transport opened, revealing the grand gates of Hell's most prestigious gathering hall. Kikidori let out an exaggerated sigh and stood up, grabbing Kael by the hand. "Come on, kid. Let's go get this over with."

As they walked through the halls, Kael kept his eyes wide open, taking in everything. Hell was a strange place to most, but for him, it was home. The walls were alive, pulsating with dark energy, and the floor cracked with each step. Every now and then, a lost soul would scream in agony, but Kael didn't flinch. He'd heard it all before.

When they reached the meeting room, Lucifer was already standing at the front, casually leaning against the podium. His wings, long and dark, draped behind him like a shadow, and his fiery eyes glowed with mischief.

"Well, well, well, look who decided to show up," Lucifer said with a grin, his voice smooth as silk. He turned his gaze to Kael. "And I see someone brought their little demon along."

Kikidori rolled his eyes. "Yeah, well, he's a little young for all this crap, but here we are."

Lucifer's gaze softened slightly as he looked at Kael, who was now scanning the room, his innocent eyes flicking from one demon to the next. "Kael, right? Your first Hell meeting. How are you finding it?"

Kael glanced up at his father before replying with an almost bored tone. "I've seen worse."

Kikidori snorted with laughter, trying to hold it back. Lucifer raised an eyebrow but said nothing.

"Alright, everyone," Lucifer started, his voice booming through the room, "let's get this show on the road. We've got a few things to discuss, and as usual, you all need to shut the hell up and listen."

Kikidori leaned back in his chair, glancing at Kael. He was surprisingly well-behaved for a three-year-old demon. Kael didn't even fidget as the meeting continued on, with Lucifer droning about various Hell politics and plans that Kikidori couldn't care less about.

Hours passed, and Kikidori found himself nodding off. The only reason he wasn't completely asleep was that Kael kept elbowing him whenever he slumped too much.

Finally, Lucifer called for a break, and Kikidori stretched, letting out a groan. Kael stood up from his chair and wandered over to Lucifer, who smiled down at him.

"What do you think of all this?" Lucifer asked, his voice surprisingly gentle for the King of Hell.

Kael looked up at him, then back at the room. "It's kinda boring. You talk too much."

Lucifer's eyes twinkled with amusement. "Fair enough. You're too young to understand most of this, but one day, you'll be running things here. Just remember: don't let it get to your head."

Kael nodded seriously. "I won't. My dad says I don't have to care about this stuff."

Kikidori chuckled, walking over to the two of them. "Damn straight, kid. Focus on having fun. All this Hell politics? It's not worth stressing about."

Lucifer smiled, a rare moment of genuine warmth. "Well, I suppose it's good you're keeping him grounded, Kikidori."

"Someone has to," Kikidori replied with a smirk.

After the break, the meeting resumed, but Kikidori was much less interested. He kept his eyes on Kael, watching the little demon absorb everything in the room like a sponge. There was something about the kid that was different, even for a Nephilim. Kael wasn't just a demon or an angel—he was something new, something powerful. Kikidori wasn't sure what it meant yet, but it wasn't hard to tell that Kael was growing into something much bigger than any of them had expected.

As the meeting finally came to an end, Lucifer looked over at Kikidori and Kael. "You two are dismissed. Go on, enjoy Hell while you can."

Kikidori stood up, Kael right behind him. "Let's get out of here, kid," he said, stretching his arms. "This place is too full of assholes for my taste."

As they walked out of the meeting hall, Kael looked up at his father. "Dad, am I going to be a big demon like everyone here?"

Kikidori grinned, ruffling his hair. "You'll be whatever you want to be, kid. You've got the whole world—or Hell—at your feet."

And with that, they left the meeting behind, the sounds of Hell's bustling streets filling the air once more.
