‘Phew. Let’s just go to a nearby café and get something sweet to eat. I need food.’
Luckily, there was a small dessert café near the bus station. Hyoyoung walked in and ordered a slice of chocolate cake and a cup of café mocha with whipped cream. They looked like they would give her a diabetic coma, and she loved it. She was about to take a big bite of the cake when suddenly, the café became filled with a booming sound from the TV.
It was The M’s live show.
“Hello. The M here!”
On the screen were the four members wearing the outfits Hyoyoung created for them. They were wearing their usual masks and looking gorgeous.
‘My, my. They can be big idiots, but on the screen, they look really hot.’
Hyoyoung shook her head and started to gobble down her cake when suddenly, Hyojun said something on TV that shocked her.
“A special someone? Of course I have one.”
Cough, cough!
Hyoyoung choked on her food and coughed uncontrollably. She couldn’t stop and even the café manager ran worriedly to her with a cup of water. She gulped it down and was finally able to stop coughing, but Hyoyoung still was in disbelief.
The interview continued on tv. The interviewer seemed excited as he asked Hyojun, Black M, “Oh my! I can almost hear all the female fans crying! I didn’t really expect you to answer honestly to this question, but here you are… So, to confirm, you are saying you currently have someone you love?”
“Yes, that’s correct.”
“Wow, the fans all over the world must be so disappointed right now. Would it be possible for you to give us a little hint about who this girl is?”
“My little sister and my family. And my group members too. Of course, I can’t forget about all our fans! I love them all!”
“Pardon…?”
“You asked me if I have someone special, right? Someone I love? Well, I love all these people.”
At Hyojun’s serious tone, all the other members looked stunned. Then quickly, they ran to him and slapped his back in mock anger.
The interviewer replied with a smile, “Oh, you scared me for a second there! I swear, I thought you meant that you had a girlfriend! Wow, you are so sneaky, Black M! A very smart answer. By the way, you must really love your little sister. You mentioned your little sister and your family first.”
“Well, I’m sure all older brothers feel the same way.”
Cough, cough, cough!!
Hyoyoung started to cough again loudly and instead of getting her another cup of water, the café manager glared at her this time. Hyoyoung got herself a cup of water herself and took a deep breath. She turned towards the TV screen again with a disgusted expression.
‘He is so fake!’
Hyoyoung remembered many incidences with her older brother over the years when they were younger.
When they were younger, he insisted on pretending to be Tarzan and her, Jane. He wrapped around a scarf around them and jumped from a tree with her, and she ended up breaking her leg. Another time, Hyojun wanted to compare the strength of a metal and plastic ruler so he hit her leg with both. He also put on strange makeup on her face often and forced her to watch horror movies to ‘toughen her up.’
On top of that, Hyojun used to love wrestling, judo, and mixed martial arts, and Hyoyoung often had to spar with him.
He also dragged her to different places, and she got hurt often. There was a period of time in her life when she was always bandaged. Then, when he hit puberty, he suddenly started to ignore her completely and she was hurt by his attitude.
Even now, Hyoyoung had no idea that Hyojun was preparing to become an idol. Yet here he was on tv, claiming that he loved his little sister.
‘What a bogus fake. He is such a liar. Why is he using me like that?’
Hyoyoung ate her cake angrily when suddenly, she got a text on her cellphone.
It was Mikyung again.
-Wow, what a guy! He said he loved his little sister. What a good older brother he is!
Mikyung continued to gush about Black M, and Hyoyoung thought to herself, ‘Oh man. Only if she knew the truth… If she knew what kind of guy my older brother was, she would be so shocked…’
Hyoyoung was so worn out that she turned her phone to silent mode. She had no energy to reply to Mikyung. She just continued to watch the tv and it seemed that it was Kiwook, Purple M’s turn.
The interviewer asked a question to Kiwook, “Again, I have the same question for you! These questions are from your fans, and of course, they are all curious about your love life! But! You can’t name your family anymore like Black M! Now, tell us the truth. Do you have a girl you are currently in love with? Tell us! Yes or no?”
After a short silence, Kiwook took the microphone and played with it. Watching his fingers, Hyoyoung felt her heart beating fast. Only a few hours ago, she fell into his arms and felt his hard chest against her cheek. Just thinking about the incident made her blush.
She was about to take another big bite of her cake when Kiwook answered calmly, “Yes. There is someone I have liked for a long time. I still like her.”
Cough, cough, cough!
At Kiwook’s response, Hyoyoung started to choke and cough again for the third time. She put her hand on her mouth so she wouldn’t make a scene, especially because the other customers and the café manager were all glaring at her in annoyance. The manager turned up the volume with a frustrated look.
The interviewer declared, “Wow! This is the biggest news of the day! We got a piece of truth from the mysterious M! Who is it? Could you give me a hint…”
“Oh, no, I can’t. She is a regular girl and someone I have known for a long time. She is a bit goofy but absolutely lovely. She is so adorable and her smile is beautiful, but she doesn’t know how wonderful she is. I haven’t told her about how I feel yet, and I don’t know when I will be able to. I… I just like her.”
Kiwook’s unexpected confession shocked and excited everyone, including the audience, the interviewer, and the two other members.
All except Hyojun, who remained dead cold.
