When Hyoyoung returned from school and saw her mother looking concerned, she knew immediately that it was time for her to explain her decision. Hyojun looked a bit uncomfortable, but he gave her a reassuring nod and Hyoyoung knew her guess was correct.
Hyoyoung’s mom had a curious look on her face. Hyoyoung walked towards her and hugged her tightly with a pretty smile.
“Mom! You wanna go on a date with me?”
“Really? My baby! Where should we go?”
“Hmm… Let’s spend all our time together till the end of this weekend!”
“Oh! Mother-daughter trip?!”
“YUP! Let’s leave the boys behind and go on a trip with just you and me!”
“That is the best news I have heard in a very long time! Do you have somewhere you want to go, Hyoyoung?”
“I want to go to Tokyo with you, Mom.”
“Where? Japan?”

Hyojun took out Hyunsuk’s list again and began to examine it again.

Kiwook was sitting beside Hyojun’s father while reporter Byungjun Lee sat across them looking awkward and embarrassed.
Byungjun Lee tried to explain, “I’m sorry. I should have checked with the family before…”
“Listen here.”
Hyojun’s father interrupted the reporter and continued, “I know very well that the public has the right to know. But that doesn’t mean it gives anyone the right to destroy someone’s life. Or someone’s whole family. Don’t you agree?”
“Yes…”

Hyoyoung’s father stood up and placed his hand on Kiwook’s shoulder. Kiwook had been silent during this entire encounter; he finally stood up and said to the reporter quietly, “Thanks to you, I got to think about a lot of things. But I don’t feel like I want to say thank you to you.”
And with that, Kiwook followed Hyojun’s father out.
Hyojun’s father stated in annoyance, “That jerk!”
Kiwook replied, “I’m really sorry, sir.”
“Why should you be sorry? There is no need to apologize to me. You didn’t do anything wrong.”
“But… I think things have gotten worse because of me.”
“It’s all fine. It’s all good. Life is like that. Things happen and there is nothing you can do about it. By the way, Hyoyoung is travelling to Japan with her mom. Did you hear about that?”
“Japan? No, I didn’t know… Did something happen?”
“Hyoyoung apparently wanted to spend some alone-time with her mom. She went through so much recently, so I said it was a great idea.”

“Alright. Are you going home now?”

Hyojun’s father tapped Kiwook’s shoulders encouragingly a few times and left with his lawyer. When they were finally gone, Kiwook took out his phone. He noted that there were a few text messages and missed calls from Hyoyoung. He called her quickly.

“Kiwook Oppa? Did you just call me ‘darling?’ Gosh, I told you to stop being so corny! Were you really busy? I called you but there was no answer.”
“Yeah, I met Reporter Byungjun Lee.”

“Yeah, when I got to the office, your father was already there.”

“So are you with my dad right now?”
“No, he left with his lawyer, and I am on a phone date with you right now.”

“So when is the flight to Japan?”

“I guess we won’t get to see each other before I leave.”
“Should I head towards the airport right now so we can see each other for a few minutes?”
