chapter 63
63 – Zenith (2)
“Zenith.”
A morning with bright sunlight.
My mother always gently woke me up with a low-pitched voice.
“Haaam, is it already morning?”
“Did you sleep well, my princess? “Now I have to go eat breakfast.”
My mother said while smiling and rolling her eyes at me.
“Hey, but Zenith wants to sleep more…” .”
I looked at her mother without even opening my eyes and said.
“Jenice, you are now 8 years old. From now on, you have to stand up on your own, make up your bed, and come out to the living room.”
“But I like going down with mom like this!”
Bewildered, I was tightly held in my mother’s arms.
Mother’s arms were soft and fluffy and had a nice scent.
Every time I was hugged, such a comfortable feeling wrapped around my entire body.
“Okay then, shall we go eat dinner with mom now?”
“Okay, okay!”
I held my mother’s hand tightly and went down to the first floor to eat.
Boom boom boom
When I arrived on the first floor with my mother wearing noisy shoes, the person who greeted us was my father, who was angry.
“Even though I’m 8 years old, I still can’t wake up on my own… How on earth are you raising Zenith!”
Pavar Paraizos.
My father was a pretty strict man.
Because my grandfather enjoyed a debaucherous life and failed to maintain dignity as an aristocrat, our Paraizos family did not have a good image abroad.
My father had a childhood life that was not worthy of a nobleman.
His grandfather was always drunk, and his grandmother also became neglectful of her household at some point.
It is said that my father, who had spent such an unhappy childhood, lived each day with the determination to somehow raise our family up.
You said you didn’t want your children to feel the humiliation and anger you experienced while attending the academy and attending noble gatherings.
“I’m sorry, but Janice is still 8 years old. She’s still a child. You can understand that much.”
“Well, it’s okay if you’re 8 years old? “This is why I didn’t give you to my family because you come from a lowly family.”
The father could not control his angry mind and began slandering his mother.
“I’m sorry. Let’s eat.”
Without saying a word or complaining, her mother sat down in her chair, bitterly swallowing her wounds.
The two younger brothers are unable to take their mother’s side even after seeing their father angry.
They were just frozen by their father’s yelling.
Of course, even when I was 8 years old, even after that, I was the same as them.
My father was a person whose image at home was completely different from the image imprinted on people outside of him.
On the outside, he was a kind and humble person who saved the declining noble family, and at home, he was just a person who took out his anger on his family.
At the age of 20, he entered and graduated from the Academy at the top of his class despite being looked down upon.
That’s why he was a respected father outside of the world.
He had such an innocent and clean image that not even a single speck of dust should stick to it.
So no one else knew of my mother’s existence.
Because my mother was a concubine taken in by her father.
According to what she heard from her mother, the two met when each other was having a hard time.
Mother, Alica Paraijos, was born into an ordinary family and she met her father at her academy at the age of 20.
Of course, it was common for nobles to hang out with other nobles, but my father couldn’t do that.
Since the nobles liked to divide classes, it must have been surprising that a child from a family that was thought to be a fallen noble family entered school at the top of the class.
My mother has always told me since I was young.
People are not divided into different classes. Even if you are from a noble family, I hope you can all get along without discriminating against those who are not from a noble family.
She heard that story from a young age when she didn’t even know what it meant to be from a noble family.
My mother said that the first time she met her father was in the school cafeteria.
She said that one day, while she was eating in the school cafeteria, she noticed a child who was eating alone and looking pitiful and intimidated.
At that time, there was a separate place in the restaurant where noblemen ate, and he felt sorry for the male student eating there, so he went and talked to him.
My father would have been surprised.
A person who was not from a noble family came and started talking to me, so he asked me to eat with him.
It was difficult to even imagine in the society at the time.
That’s how the two became friends.
My father said that no matter how severe the insults or hardships he experienced, whenever he met my mother, he smiled brightly like a child.
The two, who were fun, happy and comfortable together, made a promise for the rest of their lives.
With her father’s promise to her mother to be together for the rest of her life, they thought they would continue to be happy.
But one day, her grandfather told her father that he had decided on a marriage partner, but he could not stop the marriage.
An arranged marriage between noble families.
It was an incomprehensible arranged marriage.
My grandfather agreed to the marriage just for the sake of the huge amount of money, but it was an arranged marriage with the Paraisos family, the ruined Olivier family, a famous noble family.
But less than a week after the wedding of my father and his wife, Ashley Olivier, everything changed in the house.
Even after marriage, my father loved her mother.
So, although the two did not get married, their meeting continued because her father loved her mother.
And because he loved her so much, my father asked her mother if she could join our family as his concubine.
Your mother was so deeply in love with her that she ended up making the most tragic choice of her life.
Ashley Paraizos hated my mother very much.
Not only was he made to do all kinds of housework, but he was also often ignored, saying he was a child from a lowly family.
Whenever that happened, all my father could do was comfort me in the absence of Ashley.
At first, her mother was able to endure well thanks to her father who was kind to her even when she was out of sight, but as time passed, even that changed.
Ashley has become more irritable and angry with her mother since I was born.
It was to the point where people wanted to deny that I was a child of an aristocratic family, saying that I was a child of low blood.
Even when I was young, my father was good to me.
She did not discriminate against me because I was her concubine’s child, but raised me just like her two younger siblings.
Then one day, strangely enough, my father’s attitude towards me and her mother changed.
I didn’t know the reason at the time, but later I found out that it was Ashley’s masterpiece.
My father was a man with great ambition.
Looking at his grandfather, he was filled with a desire to somehow succeed as a teacher.
Of course, the desire was too much.
Ashley offered her father a deal: if she could get her mother to join this family, she would earn her a higher and higher position.
She was someone who was fully capable of doing that.
She was the eldest daughter of the Olivier family.
And although it made no sense, my father accepted the offer.
I guess her feelings for her mother weren’t that big.
Or maybe the lack of power was too great.
So from then on, there was no one for me and my mother in our house.
My father and Ashley always discriminated against my mother and me and treated me coldly.
He probably put pressure on his two younger brothers, and they treated me as if I were someone they didn’t even know.
“We need to get Allica out of her house, I don’t want to see her!”
“But Ashley, no matter how she suddenly leaves, there’s no way….”
“Why is there no way, Janice? People outside know her as our daughter, so even if we leave her alone, if you keep harassing her more, she will get sick of it and go out on her own.”
One day, I woke up and went down to the first floor to drink water, and I heard a conversation between my father and Ashley.
My eyes, which had been struggling to open, suddenly opened and sleep was completely gone.
She was only 7 years old at the time, but her memories are still vivid.
For about 12 years after that, her mother and I endured life at home, lonely and lonely, relying only on each other.
One day, a woman came to us and asked me, who was called a sore finger and a mother who was almost treated as a cleaner rather than a member of the family.
“Don’t you want to get revenge on your family?”
Revenge?
This is something I have been gritting my teeth for for over 10 years, but have not been able to accomplish.
The encouragement of a woman I didn’t know was enough to make me make a new resolution that day.
