0 – Ended Fate
A connection that lasted for 16 years.
I never thought our long-standing bond would end so easily with just one word saying she was tired of it.
No matter how much I tried to hold on, she left me in a cold-hearted manner, and I ended up being alone.
I cried a lot and went through a lot of hardships.
There were days when I secluded myself in a corner, drinking like a recluse.
If only I had joined the military right away, so that my body would have been exhausted, perhaps I would’ve entertained some strange thoughts.
But anyway, the fate has come to an end.
It was difficult to gather my heart, but after deliberating for two years, I finally made up my mind to forget her and start a new life.
So, I finished my military service and returned to school, receiving a call from an unknown number.
If I had known that it was her, I wouldn’t have answered the call.
…
…
…
[“Geon-yul… you know… can we start again?”]
A trembling voice calling my name.
Words mixed with tears coming from the other side of the phone.
The familiar tone, because she was someone I loved more than anyone else.
Now, I hated that voice more than anyone else’s.
“…”
I couldn’t say anything in response to her pleading words.
When did she ever leave me in such a cold-hearted way? Why is she doing this to me now?
Unknowingly, tears that I had forgotten started welling up in my eyes again.
[Please… I’m begging you. Don’t hang up, just listen to me once…]
I had no intention of continuing to listen to her words.
Because our relationship is completely over anyway.
I cut off the conversation and conveyed what I had to say.
[Since I have nothing to say to you, don’t call me again.]
*Click*
And so, the call disconnected abruptly, without a word.
Just like our relationship, which had already come to an end – cold and distant.
