The next day i woke up early which was surprising in its own right but the main reason was that I spent most of the night barely sleeping with images of Nessa filling my head. The first rays of sunlight filtered through the small window in my room as I got dressed in something simple and headed downstairs expecting to find the inn bustling with activity.
To my surprise though the common room was basically empty besides a few people who were having their morning meals. Although my feet froze as I glanced to the far end of the room where a singular figure sitting at one of the tables. It was a gorgeous young women with flowing blond hair and a pair of glasses framing her face, The figure of course being my elder sister Evelyn who was currently…..shoving food into her mouth with uncharacteristic abandon.
"What are you doing here?" I let out a soft sigh and walked over before speaking making her flinch.
Evelyn looked up cheeks stuffed with food and her expression one of startled guilt. She blushed before giving me a small glare and quickly started chewing faster finishing what was in her mouth before patting her lips with a napkin attempting to mask her embarrassment.
"Little brother don't you know it's rude to sneak up on a woman?" She let out a soft sigh of her own as of chastising me.
"A woman?" I mocked not bothering to hide the fake confusion in my tone only to flinch at her sharp glare.
'D~damn' I felt memories of when we were young play through my head remembering all the pranks she used to pull.
That was when I decided not to risk my life and pretend that nothing happened as I took a seat at the table just across from her, the tension from my previous day melting slightly as I looked at my sister who I hadn't seen in so long.
Perhaps she had the same thoughts as she gazed at me with a melancholy expression.
"What's it been almost two years since we last saw each other?" Evelyn asked leaning back in the chair with her tone slightly bitter giving me a narrowed eyed gaze
"I'm sorry I've been busy," I spoke with an apologetic tone and sighed with guilt washing over me.
After all a huge reason we hadn't met in so long was because of me, I had many things to do and it was rare to stop in a place for extended times. The last time we saw each other was in passing around the same time I finished the duchesses training, But it seemed our different paths kept curling away from each other.
"Even if my brother is the hero he should still make sure to keep in touch with his elder sister," Evelyn said narrowing her slanted eyes even more while leaning forward enough that her breasts basically sat on the table.
"Yes yes I'm sorry" I raised my hands in a placating gesture trying not to glance at my sister's huge chest.
"Oh?" Our reunion was interrupted by the sound of footsteps and a deep voice sounding out from behind me.
"Good morning hero" I looked over my shoulder and I frowned seeing Leon approaching with a smile on his face.
"Good morning," I greeted him trying to maintain a calm facade despite my already building annoyance.
"I have to be honest it's very surprising to see the hero up so early" Leon made an expression of slight surprise before his gaze finally shifted and landed on Evelyn.
"And who's this?" He spoke in a polite tone but I felt a pang of discomfort at the look in his eye as he looked my sister down and up with his gaze lingering on her bountiful chest.
"….This is my sister Evelyn" I said reluctant but introducing them nonetheless as I saw Evelyn's eyes narrowing as she sized him up.
"Evelyn this is Leon" I continued sighing trying to find the right words that would leave me less pissed off.
"I guess you can call him a new member of our party." The words felt bitter sliding off my tongue and I saw Evelyn's sharp eyebrows scrunch together.
"A new member?" She asked tilting her head with confusion evident in her tone as her eyes looked Leon up and down once more.
"This guy? Seriously?" Evelyn turned back toward me pointing her thumb at Leon who looked confused.
"I could blow this guy away with a deep breath," My sister scoffed and I had to stifle a laugh at her blunt insult.
Leon's eye twitched and he looked both embarrassed and annoyed at the same time. The way he looked at Evelyn was still polite but I swore I could see a deep glint deep in his eyes, Although I felt very happy seeing his bitter expression I decided to step in before Evelyn went too far.
"Yes he's a member of our party" I said hesitating once more trying to find the right words.
