My Seatmate is Apparently My Wife from My Past Life; She Still Loves Me in This Life as Well

51: Golden Week First Day

The next day, on April 29th, the much-awaited Golden Week finally began for the public. However, on this momentous first day, I woke up at my usual time.

Well, that’s not a problem in itself. After all, my body has already adjusted to waking up early, regardless of my awareness.

So, if there’s an issue, it’s that I couldn’t think about things like “Should I try going back to sleep?” or “What should I do today?” because my schedule was already packed. And it was filled with annoying plans that required me to start early in the morning.

To convey just how troublesome this plan was, suffice it to say that the ever-smiling Kamidama Kagari was sitting right next to me. We were on a Shinkansen, seated side by side, speeding at about 300 km/h as the scenery flew by.

I sat by the window, and Kamidama took the aisle seat. There wasn’t a particular reason for this, but Kamidama insisted on sitting by the window, so I simply complied.

I wonder if she thinks I get terribly motion sick. Unfortunately, that’s not the case, but having a good view is nice.

Our destination was Azusagamori, or something like that. The nearest station had a similar name, and a quick search showed it to be quite a rural area.

That being said, I wasn’t born and raised in a big city. In fact, I might prefer the countryside.

Thanks to that, although I was in low spirits before boarding, I started feeling better once we were on the train. Well, it could simply be that I was no longer sleepy.

Even if I wake up early, I’m weak in the mornings, both physically and mentally.

“You don’t have to force yourself to stay awake. The journey is long, and I’m awake, so you can sleep peacefully.”

“No, that would be rude… and besides, since it’s a trip for two, it’s better if we can both enjoy it, even on the way.”

“Wow, I didn’t expect such words from you, someone who usually doesn’t like going out.”

“What do you think I am…?”

Sure, I’m naturally that type of person, but recently, I’ve been out a lot, right? My outings have increased, even though I’m still an indoor type who prefers sitting in a quiet indoor place rather than roaming outside.

People don’t change that much. It’s inevitable.

“But if you can enjoy yourself, I can enjoy myself even if you’re sleeping.”

“Hey, don’t subtly exclude me! Sure, with a smartphone, you can pass the time, but…”

As you said, I’m terrible at entertaining others. Maybe sleeping would be more useful.

“Well, if I can be of help just by being here, then it’s not so bad…?”

“Again with the negative thinking… Gosh, I might not always be kind, but I wouldn’t be mean like that!”

“You can’t even deny it…? At least say you wouldn’t. Please?”

“But it’s true that just being with you makes me happy. Because I really like you.”

“Oh, I see…”

As usual, Kamidama’s sudden expressions of affection were overwhelming. It was hard to just be happy or be completely put off; I didn’t know how to react.

It’s strange that she’s the cutest when she’s picking up on past life vibes. The gods gave her everything, but she’s so off in the crucial areas. The world could be a little kinder to me, I thought, looking out the window.

“Are you blushing?”

“I’m not.”

“Wow, an instant response. It would’ve been perfect if your cheeks weren’t red.”

“Huh? Hey, stop staring! It’s embarrassing!”

“Ha-ha, you’re so cute.”

Kamidama kept poking my cheeks. I was being treated like a toy.

I wanted to shake her off, but making a scene on the train would be bad, and the window seat made it hard to escape. Damn, everything’s working against me. Did she plan this seating arrangement?

Kamidama Kagari is a terrifying woman.

“Well, if staying awake is okay, that’s good… but I didn’t bring anything to play with, so we can only chat.”

“You surprisingly like talking.”

“Well, yeah. I’m just bad at it, nervous, and don’t do it often.”

“That’s a serious problem…”

Kamidama patted my head gently.

Please stop being so nice. It makes me want to cry.

Kamidama, who always supports me, was in top form today. I might have to ask her if tomorrow will be a better day too.

Hamster Kamidama would probably escape her cage, and that’s not good.

“Well, I’m used to Kamidama by now. No point in being nervous.”

“You always add one more thing… But I’m glad to hear that. It makes me feel special.”

“If we’re talking about special, the most special person is probably teacher Takatsuki…”

“You really like teacher Takatsuki, don’t you?”

Kamidama’s glare replaced her smile.

It’s not my fault…

Considering our long relationship, it’s no wonder. There’s almost no one I can interact with without feeling nervous.

Teachers are amazing.

Kamidama pouted as I conveyed that.
