Chapter 3: Schicksal Headquarters
“Mr. Chen Wenjin.”
Rita stood up from her chair, her hands folded in front of her as she gave a slight bow.
“My tasks for today are complete. So I will take my leave.”
No rush, no rush. There’s no need to be in a hurry now. Captain has just arrived in Vienna. She has plenty of time to help him become familiar with the city.
She has a lot of time.
“Rita still has other tasks to complete. If Captain… I mean, Mr. Chen Wenjin, doesn’t have anything else, then I’ll leave?”
Chen Wenjin quickly nodded in agreement.
Hurry up and go, hurry up and go. If you don’t leave soon, I’m afraid I won’t be able to hold back my… my urge to ask you something.
Rita smiled slightly.
“Very well, then I look forward to meeting Mr. Chen Wenjin again.”
Chen Wenjin also stood up, responding to Rita’s smile. He watched her leave the café and, gazing at her back, he patted his pants and quietly sat back down.
He picked up the coffee again and took a sip.
Sigh, it’s really bitter.
Chen Wenjin summoned his system. The task the system had given him earlier appeared in his
“No way? Is this it? One task at a time, and now the task is interrupted? You’re the worst system I’ve ever encountered.”
Chen Wenjin downed the bitter coffee in one gulp, then left the café and headed back to his rental house.
He had to pack his things. He had been looking forward to the rewards the system might offer for the next task, but not only were there no rewards, the task itself disappeared.
This is just absurd. Who on earth created this system? Can I return it? Even if you brought me to the world of Honkai, I won’t be grateful to you.
Well, it’s better to pack up and get ready to move. Schicksal should provide accommodations, right?
The next day, carrying his belongings, Chen Wenjin arrived at the entrance of Schicksal Headquarters. What he saw was an ordinary-looking building, but he knew very well that this was definitely not Schicksal’s headquarters.
Schicksal’s headquarters was a floating port, and this building was just for show to the regular people.
“Mr. Chen Wenjin, Rita has been waiting for you.”
Just as Chen Wenjin was sizing up the building, Rita’s voice timely appeared.
Wait, aren’t you an S-rank Valkyrie? Durandal’s vice-captain? The vice-captain of the Immortal Blades? Why are you so free? We’re not that close, right? I don’t think I’ve become so important that you, Rita, need to receive me, right?
Although Chen Wenjin was full of question marks, Rita was his superior now, so he still smiled at her.
“Miss Rita.”
“Mr. Chen Wenjin, just call me Rita.”
Rita bowed slightly.
To be honest, Chen Wenjin looked a bit frightened. He was afraid he might be under Otto’s surveillance, which was why Rita was “taking care” of him like this. The thing is, Otto probably doesn’t know that I have Honkai Adaptability, so why does Rita always come to receive me?
Chen Wenjin couldn’t understand this issue, couldn’t understand why Rita personally received him.
“Well then, Mr. Chen Wenjin, please follow me.”
Rita extended her hand, motioning for Chen Wenjin to follow her.
Both of them entered the elevator. Rita swiped a card on the elevator panel, and the elevator took them to a height that the internal buttons couldn’t reach.
The rooftop of Schicksal Headquarters.
On the rooftop of the building, there was an aircraft parked. To truly get to Schicksal’s headquarters, you needed to use flying vehicles.
Schicksal’s headquarters was located directly above Vienna. It was a massive floating island composed of several large airfields and laboratories. This was the heart of Schicksal, where the most outstanding talents and technologies of the organization converged.
He had only sent in his resume not long ago, and now he’s at Schicksal’s headquarters?
The aircraft landed gently in a corner of the floating island. This wasn’t the center of the island, which means Rita didn’t bring him to the center of the island.
Is Otto the one who wants to see me?
Chen Wenjin immediately thought of this possibility. After all, Otto probably wouldn’t choose such a secluded spot to meet.
Rita disembarked the aircraft first, standing beside a hovercar. She slightly bent at the waist and opened the door of the hovercar for Chen Wenjin.
“Mr. Chen Wenjin, please.”
Chen Wenjin stood at the cabin door of the aircraft. His expression turned serious as he glanced at Rita, then he let out a long breath, took a step down from the aircraft, and directly sat inside the hovercar.
No matter the reason, he had to go to find out.
There’s a saying, when an army approaches, use barricades; when water comes, use earth to cover.
When I haven’t seen the army or water, what’s the use of thinking about this and that here?
The hovercar stopped in front of a building that resembled a warehouse.
From the entrance of this building, numerous self-disciplined robots, each resembling an octopus, floated into the building one by one.
In the hands of each self-disciplined robot, they held boxes of various sizes.
Just like a real warehouse.
Wait, does this mean I’ve actually been assigned to the logistics department?
