Chapter 45: Death Of Oberon

_____

"Thank you... Thank you..."

Shame. This was utter humiliation.

Throughout his life, Beryl had always been the predator—a murderer who toyed with others using cruel methods. Even after entering Chaldea, he remained a Master with boundless potential and a bright future.

Yet now, he found himself degraded and humiliated by Elric. The burning shame carved deep into his pride, and he silently swore vengeance.

"You're welcome," Elric replied, still smiling.

Without warning, he punched Beryl in the head.

Lostbelt? Alien God? Chaldea?

Elric dismissed them all with a casual air. To him, they were meaningless.

As a king—a king who lived by his own rules, who acted with unchecked authority—he feared no enemy.

In his past life, he often felt frustrated watching certain anime plots. After crossing into this world, he started as an ordinary man, carefully protecting his sister in a chaotic, fantastical realm.

Later, during his simulation of the Roman Empire, he witnessed the nobility and the clergy oppress the common people while ruling as an emperor.

And now, in Britain, he stood amidst princes of chaos, men who treated human lives as utterly disposable.

From an ordinary man to a king, Elric had been evolving. Yet, if asked to define what it truly meant to be a king, even he could not give a perfect answer.

Was it caring for the people? Achieving world peace? Protecting those around him?

Elric wanted all of it.

After countless moments of self-reflection and introspection, he concluded that there was likely only one way to achieve clarity in his heart and mind.

That way was simple.

Kill.

The blood of the Beast of Apocalypse and the Beast of the Savior surged within him, boiling like molten fire. His golden eyes shone as brilliantly as the stars, illuminating the battlefield.

Vortigern and Oberon, now in their dragon forms, were forced to the ground, crushed under Elric's overwhelming power. The anguished screams of the Humble King and Oberon reverberated across the battlefield, bringing all movement to a halt.

Silence. Deathly silence.

No one dared to make a sound.

The northern soldiers, witnessing their once-mighty leaders being obliterated, lost all courage. Their spirits shattered, they didn't even dare look directly at Elric. Their only desire was to flee this place.

Meanwhile, Mellie, Vivian, and Artoria gazed at Elric with eyes alight with admiration. Their hearts surged with emotion, and they longed to throw themselves into his arms.

At the same time, Elric's Sea of Killing annihilated every trace of life within its reach. As Vortigern's colossal, 100-meter-long body crashed into the ground, hundreds of gaping wounds marred his frame, the bones visible beneath.

With Vortigern dead and Beryl reduced to a lifeless husk, Oberon dared not hesitate any longer. He knew the cost of using his next move would be steep, but he had no other choice.

"The end of the dream—the Dream Pupil That Fell with the Other Side!"

Oberon unleashed his true form, his Noble Phantasm transforming him into the [Hollow Worm], the cursed dragon Vortigern—a being capable of destroying Britain itself. At that moment, Oberon experienced a surge of unparalleled power.

He could open the world gate belonging to [Hollow]. This was not a power meant to kill the opponent directly but a path to send them into a hell devoid of even the faintest trace of light.

However, using this move came at a heavy price: his entire body would lose all strength, and he would fall into a prolonged slumber. Yet, if he didn't use it now, death was certain.

Summoning every ounce of his remaining willpower, Oberon forced himself to rise. With a flash of light, the cursed dragon Vortigern was reborn. The immense pressure from his presence caused the entire land to tremble violently, unleashing a torrent of stone spikes and magical energy upon Elric.

"Glory, die!"

Under the blessing of The End of the Dream, the dragon's aura was overwhelming, exuding a vastly different momentum than before.

His muscles and bones groaned audibly as they reformed, and the injuries inflicted by Elric were rapidly healing. A sinister black glow radiated from his scarred body.

The monstrous dragon's head fixed its piercing gaze on Elric. Yet, in return, Oberon saw only the other's eyes, blazing with an unyielding brilliance that rivaled the sun.

As Oberon lunged forward, Elric calmly raised his arms. In an instant, the magic projectiles and spikes dissolved into nothingness. Even the empty tunnel of [Hollow] that Oberon had just opened seemed to collapse, severed by an invisible force.

A chilling premonition surged through Oberon's heart. It was the omen of death.

He realized, with dread clawing at his soul, that the entire world around him seemed to have been sealed by an incomprehensible power.

Roaring defiantly, he tried to rally his strength, but the sound that emerged was filled with despair and futility—a mournful wail of impending demise.

[Life and Death Conversion (EX)]:

Life and death, death and life—these concepts hold no meaning for you. You see the road to death clearly and can bridge the gap to life effortlessly. You hold the power to reverse the very essence of life and death.

---

Elric activated Life and Death Conversion as he slowly advanced toward Oberon.

For Oberon, the so-called passage of death—his greatest weapon—was nothing more than a simple path that Elric could traverse at will.

"Oberon."

The cold, emotionless voice pierced through the chaos. Staring at the majestic figure before him, Oberon heard what would be his final words.

"Since you desire the death of all things, then you should visit that world yourself. See for yourself if death is truly the only destination."

With a single, decisive strike, the dragon's head was severed. The battlefield fell silent, signaling the end of the final battle for Britain.

And so, the glorious king known as Reinhard stood triumphant, ruling Britain at last.
