Chapter 17: 17. The Truth is Hard

The Lies Lived by the Boy Who Lived.

I am a reporter, even though it may seem unbelievable to many, who seeks to bring the truth, no matter how much it hurts to hear it. And today, unfortunately, after much research and investigation, I must bring a truth that will haunt us as a country.

Our boy, the one we know as The Boy Who Lived, calls himself, to my surprise, the Boy Who Lost Everything.

Yes, my friends and readers, that name was what came out of the mouth of the said boy, to whom we are eternally grateful, for driving away the last Dark Lord who haunted our country.

In an interview, which you can read on page 2, Mr. Potter asked questions that opened my eyes, and sparked my curiosity and desire to know the truth behind them.

Let's get to it, in chronological order of what I found out...

When He Who Must Not Be Named killed James and Lily Potter on Halloween 1981, he used the killing curse, aimed at the boy Harry Potter, who was only one year old at the time.

But how much of this is true? Because if we stop to analyze it coldly, there were only 4 people in that house, 2 who died, one who disappeared, and one who was only one year old. So, how can we be sure of this?

Our books state that this is true, but who gave this certainty has always been an unknown. Which raises the question of why?

I still haven't found the answer to these questions, but with this, I found other information, which I will share with each of you, my fellow readers.

Harry Potter, contrary to what most of the wizarding world believes, was not raised with our customs as he should have been. Our boy was being, and excuse my frankness, enslaved by a non-magical couple.

Exactly, my readers. His uncles, relatives of his mother, his aunt being the sister of Lily Potter, were the ones who were 'taking care' of Harry Potter until he was 17, or at least, she should have been. His house, which unfortunately I cannot say where it is, is currently empty, not even the furniture was left behind.

But that's not all, according to the residents of the neighborhood, the boy Harry Potter is a troublemaker, a bad influence and a troublemaker. And when asked why, the same resident could not say, saying that it was just what the boy's aunt said about him.

There is also the story told to the boy, and to all the neighbors, that James and Lily Potter were a drunk couple, who had an accident that led to their deaths, leaving Harry on his uncle's doorstep, on a cold night.

The part that amazes me the most, my dear readers, is that leaving Harry on a cold night, on his uncle's doorstep, is a fact. Whoever left him there didn't bother to cover the child or put protections for his safety.

I say, whoever did it, hope that this journalist, and the Auror Department if they read it, don't find you, because I, and I believe many others, wish that you spend the rest of your days in Ashkaban, for all the harm you did to a baby.

But it doesn't stop there, there is also a crucial piece of information not only for our golden boy. Sirius Black is Harry Potter's godfather.

I know this is not news, but for anyone with access to the Ministry's public records, they would see that the same Sirius Black took the magical oath to never harm his godson, in any way.

This, my friends, calls into question whether, in fact, Sirius Black is really who the Ministry says he is, since, to my surprise and dismay, this man NEVER, and I repeat the word, NEVER, had a trial for the charges against him.

Unfortunately, there are many unclear things that prevent this journalist from going deeper into the subject, but I will not give up, and I hope you will too, my fellow readers. We owe a lot to this boy, and all this injustice towards him must end.

I had just finished reading the article when Hermione gave me her worried bear hug. I could feel that if I didn't stop her now, survival would be almost impossible.

"Hermione, relax, out of breath..." I said, with great effort, while holding the girl gently.

Surprised, she quickly released me, and the air filled my lungs again. Relief.

"How did she find out all this? Even if it's not much, but still, it shows that in a short time, the most important was searched and discovered by her." Hermione puts her mind to work, when her gaze meets mine.

Her understanding eyes begin to widen, until they reach their limit, and with great effort, she remains calm, but her hand holds mine tightly.

"I see that your Occlumency studies are having an effect." I praised her. It was complicated, but when I told her the benefits of learning Occlumency, she quickly jumped on it. Having Sirius, being able to go into Grimmaud and get books to help her learn, was a bonus.

What she didn't know, was that I asked her to learn, just in case the old know-it-all, or the nosy bat, tried something funny on her mind. After all, those who have strong occlumency, are less prone to Obliviate or forced memory changes.

Meanwhile, Cedric, Neville, Cho, Susan, Hanna, Luna, got out of their seats, and soon snuggled up to me and Hermione, not talking about the article, just their plans for the day, about the subjects and things like that.

Luna, of course, had to make the subject strangely strange, but funny, by taking me to discuss the Crumple-Horned Snorkacks, which she and her father had been researching for years.

Being one of my friends, and one of the coolest characters to read about in my past, I was tempted to make these creatures she dreamed of so much real.

With that in mind, I started asking her questions about what they should look like, their sizes, colors, habits, and so on. If it happened like in the original, and she really did become a magizoologist, discovering new creatures would be a delight for the girl.

But let's leave the future for the future.
