Chapter 8: Power Of Buddha Jumping Over The Wall
Time flew by, and a month had passed.
Yamamoto Ryusei had now mastered the ability to refine chakra while multitasking.
Senju Miyuki had returned a few days ago, but after teaching Ryusei the Paralysis Jutsu, the Body Flicker Technique, and the Cloak of Invisibility Technique, she stopped imparting any additional ninjutsu. "You're too young," she had said, "It's best to wait until you're older before learning more advanced jutsu."
With a loud thud, Yamamoto Ryusei slammed into a tree, dislodging a flurry of leaves. He groaned, rubbing his bruised and swollen face, and slowly got back on his feet. This wasn't the first time.
Ryusei was currently practicing the Body Flicker Technique, one of the most practical yet challenging techniques among the three he'd learned. It required a sudden burst of chakra through the legs to achieve high-speed movement, but the force was violent and difficult to control, making it nearly impossible to stop accurately.
Ryusei winced as he touched his aching legs. He needed a break before he could continue practicing. The rapid usage of chakra caused strain on his legs, and even a skilled shinobi like Senju Miyuki couldn't use the Body Flicker more than ten times in quick succession without repercussions. If not for Ryusei's impressive physical condition, Miyuki wouldn't have taught him this technique at all.
Meanwhile, Yamashita Shou had been slacking off lately. He barely trained, preferring to spend most of his time fishing or lounging around. However, since Shou had set his sights on becoming a ninja toolsmith, Ryusei didn't push him too hard.
On the other hand, Komiya Yuki was the opposite. She endured harsh training alongside Ryusei every day. But today, Yuki wasn't training; she was reading under the shade of a tree.
"Yuki, not training today?" Ryusei asked as he approached her.
Looking up from her book, Yuki replied with a serious expression, "Last night, while showering, I noticed something..."
"What is it?" Ryusei asked, confused.
"I have abs now!" Yuki exclaimed, standing up in a mix of pride and panic.
"That's great, isn't it?" Ryusei said, unsure. "It means your training is paying off. If you keep at it, your muscles will only grow stronger."
"But that's the problem!" Yuki exclaimed. "I'm a girl! What if all the fat from my chest moves to my stomach? How will I ever get married?"
Ryusei shuddered at the mental image of Yuki with a cute face but the muscular body of the Third Raikage. "Alright, alright! No need to keep training so hard. You look fine as you are."
Yuki's face turned red. She muttered something under her breath and returned to her book.
Just then, Shou came running over, panting. "Brother! Big brother! Sister Miyuki said the Hokage has returned and wants you to come back right away!"
"Really?" Ryusei exclaimed, quickly gathering his belongings. "Let's go! I'm making Buddha Jumps Over the Wall for you all tonight!"
The trio hurried back and found Senju Miyuki conversing with Yamamoto Nami. As soon as Miyuki saw Ryusei, her eyes lit up. "Hashirama-sama is back, and we're having a celebration tonight with the clan. This is the perfect occasion. Can the Buddha Jumps Over the Wall be ready by dinner?"
Miyuki had visited many times before and was well-acquainted with Ryusei's cooking (though his recipes were actually borrowed from Earth's cuisine).
Ryusei pounded his chest confidently. "Leave it to me!"
Miyuki patted his shoulder. "Great! Don't forget to save me some."
Ryusei began preparing the dish, using the best substitutes he could afford for the traditional 18 ingredients. Though he lacked exotic items like shark fin, he still crafted a flavorful masterpiece using local resources. He carefully layered and sealed the ingredients in two jars, using Zhuyeqing wine jars instead of traditional Shaoxing ones. After slow-cooking the dish for five hours, the aroma was mouthwatering.
When it was time for the banquet, Ryusei and Miyuki wheeled the dishes toward the Senju clan's estate.
At the gate, two Senju guards stopped them. "Miyuki, the banquet has already started. What's this?"
Miyuki smirked proudly. "A unique delicacy from a top chef. It's for Hashirama-sama."
One of the guards offered to help. "I'll take it inside, but the child can't enter."
"Thanks, Liangchen!" Miyuki turned to Ryusei. "Wait for me here. Save the second jar for us!"
Inside, the main hall was lively. At the head table sat Senju Hashirama, Senju Tobirama, Uzumaki Mito, and surprisingly, Uchiha Madara—likely dragged there by Hashirama. Madara, as usual, looked displeased, glaring at Hashirama while sipping sake. Tobirama, on the other hand, was clearly annoyed but masked his irritation with his usual stoicism.
Miyuki unveiled the dish, and the aroma immediately captivated the room. Even Madara's stern expression softened.
Hashirama clapped his hands in delight. "This smells incredible! Let's try it!"
Bowls were quickly served. Tobirama took a sip and said, "This… this is remarkable. I didn't know food could taste like this."
Mito nodded in agreement, delicately sipping her soup. Meanwhile, Madara grudgingly muttered, "Not bad," though the faintest smile betrayed his approval.
Outside, the other Senju clan members clamored at the door, drawn by the irresistible scent. Despite the limited portions, the elders ensured children and seniors were served first, leaving most adults with nothing but the aroma.
Hashirama sighed contentedly. "This soup… It symbolizes the peace we've achieved. Madara, don't you think this harmony was worth it?"
Madara sipped his soup, his sharp gaze softening slightly. "Perhaps."
Meanwhile, Miyuki was already dreaming of finishing the second jar back with Ryusei.
