Chapter 35: Chapter 35
The bustling street outside the casino was lively and chaotic. People crowded the entrance, eagerly trying to squeeze inside.
"I heard there's a big whale here—ten bets, ten losses!" one person exclaimed.
"Really? I heard she's addicted to gambling," another added.
"Still gambling? She's been losing for two days straight!"
The chatter of the crowd carried on, each story more incredulous than the last.
"Is there really someone who keeps gambling after losing so much?" Naruto asked, his brow furrowed in confusion. He turned to Guy and the others for answers, but all he got were shrugs.
None of them had any experience with gambling addiction, so understanding the mindset of gamblers was beyond them.
"But will Orochimaru really be here?" Neji asked skeptically, his mental image of Orochimaru as a gambling Konoha traitor becoming increasingly vivid—and absurd.
"Of course," Kabuto replied confidently. "The contact information Orochimaru-sama provided led us here."
As they debated, a cold, gloomy voice interrupted them from the shadows. "Why are you here?"
Naruto instinctively swung his fist, but it was intercepted by a slippery, snake-like appendage that coiled around his arm.
"Chito-sama's methods are truly remarkable," Orochimaru said with a mysterious smile. "Naruto, you've become much stronger."
The snake-like coil retracted, transforming into the sleeve of Orochimaru's robe. Despite the loss of his hands, Orochimaru showed no sign of concern. His gaze lingered briefly on Naruto before shifting toward the casino entrance.
There, amidst the noise and commotion, a little girl emerged, accompanied by a teenage girl carrying a pig. They hurried down the street, seemingly trying to escape.
Orochimaru's smile widened as he quickly followed them. "Keep up," Kabuto instructed the group, immediately moving to follow his master.
Naruto and the others exchanged glances, then trailed behind at a cautious distance.
"Is this really the behavior of an S-Class traitor?" Neji muttered, his voice tinged with disbelief. "Is he planning to kidnap a child and a teenager? Could he be cruel enough to use them as experimental material?"
The thought sent a shiver down Neji's spine. Do I really need the help of someone this perverse to awaken the Tenseigan?
The little girl led the way through winding streets until they reached an open area. The teenage girl, panting and visibly frustrated, glared at her companion.
"Tsunade-sama, you've lost all our money again! We can't even afford to stay at an inn now!" she scolded.
With a puff of smoke, the little girl transformed into her adult self—Tsunade, the legendary Sannin. She had lost count of how many times she'd fled from a casino like this.
The "Legendary Big Fat Sheep," as gamblers often called her, had struck again.
"It's fine," Tsunade said dismissively, waving a hand. "We'll manage."
But her nonchalant attitude only irritated the teenage girl further.
"Long time no see, Tsunade," Orochimaru's voice rang out, cutting through the tension. He made no attempt to hide his presence, stepping forward with a sly smile. His purpose here was clear: to seek Tsunade's help.
Tsunade frowned, her sharp instincts picking up on the sinister aura. "I knew I felt a familiar, annoying presence trailing me," she said, her voice laced with annoyance.
"I need you to heal my hands," Orochimaru stated, raising his damaged arms for her to see. Though the wounds had closed, the damage was beyond conventional treatment.
"Your hands," Tsunade said, narrowing her eyes, "let me guess—you broke them during one of your twisted experiments?"
Orochimaru's calm demeanor didn't waver. He held his hands out, silently confirming her suspicions.
"And why would I help you?" Tsunade retorted, her tone icy. Her gaze shifted to the figures approaching from a distance. She sensed several unfamiliar chakras converging on her location.
Not far away, Kabuto, Naruto, and the others hurried to catch up with Orochimaru.
"If you can't be persuaded the soft way, perhaps the hard way will suffice," Tsunade said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. Although she felt the weight of the approaching group's combined strength, she wasn't easily intimidated.
"Are you Tsunade-sama?" Guy asked, his tone respectful. He had seen Tsunade before, but Neji, unfamiliar with her appearance, observed her carefully. The descriptions he'd heard of the legendary Sannin gradually aligned with the woman standing before him.
"Who are you?" Tsunade asked, her brow furrowed as she studied the group. There was something vaguely familiar about them.
The boy with spiky blond hair reminded her of a certain loud-mouthed child who used to follow Jiraiya. The young man with white eyes resembled the Hyuga clan. And the one with thick eyebrows and an enthusiastic energy—it clicked. Memories surfaced of a boy who used to shout about "youth" every morning, disturbing her sleep.
"Might Guy!"
"Hyuga Neji!"
"Naruto Uzumaki!"
"Rock Lee!"
One by one, the quartet introduced themselves, hoping to avoid a confrontation.
Kabuto stepped forward with a smirk. "Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Kabuto, and I serve Orochimaru-sama."
Tsunade's eyes narrowed. "Konoha shinobi mixed up with Orochimaru? Or are you here to hunt him down?"
Her confusion was evident. Tsunade, having spent so much time in casinos, was unaware of the recent upheaval in Konoha. The peculiar combination of people before her made no sense.
