Chapter 109: Chapter : 100
"What if he still wants to kill me?" Kirito asked, feigning innocence.
"Then deal with him, Kirito-kun, but spare his life," Orochimaru replied calmly.
Even though Kimimaro had lost his value as a vessel, Orochimaru still held some affection for his loyal disciple. If possible, he didn't want Kimimaro to die so pointlessly.
"Is that so? Then I'll grant you this favor," Kirito replied nonchalantly.
Without another word, Kirito disappeared into thin air. When he reappeared, he stood before Kimimaro, holding his Zanpakutō in reverse. Activating Kyōka Suigetsu, he ensnared Kimimaro in his perfect illusion.
Kimimaro, unaware of the illusion, believed he had broken free. With a bone spear in hand, he lunged at Kirito, aiming for his chest. The weapon seemed to pierce its mark—but the next moment, Kirito dissolved into a swirl of cherry blossom petals.
Kimimaro felt a sudden, sharp pain in his chest. Looking down, he saw his chest dyed red with blood. Even the bone armor that formed under his skin due to the curse seal had shattered, leaving behind a gaping wound.
As the petals swirled back together, they re-formed into Kirito's figure. He sheathed his blade and turned toward the manor without sparing Kimimaro another glance.
"Truly an extraordinary individual," Kimimaro murmured, his vision blurring as the curse mark faded. He collapsed to the ground, his consciousness slipping away.
Even in his final moments of awareness, Kimimaro knew the truth: Kirito didn't need illusions to defeat him. The wound on his chest was proof enough that Kirito's raw combat skills alone were overwhelming.
Orochimaru and Kabuto arrived moments later. Kabuto knelt beside Kimimaro, channeling medical ninjutsu to stabilize him.
"Lord Orochimaru, is Kirito's genjutsu truly so formidable? Even Kimimaro, under the full power of the cursed seal, was defeated so effortlessly..." Kabuto asked, his voice laced with disbelief.
Orochimaru didn't answer. His hands tightened into fists, and his resolve to obtain the Sharingan grew stronger. With the Sharingan, he believed he could finally counter Kirito's unparalleled genjutsu.
The Hidden Mist Village Mizukage's Office
Emerald green eyes, flowing reddish-brown hair, pink lips, and a figure that exuded both elegance and strength—Mei Terumi, the Fifth Mizukage, was as stunning as ever. Her blue tube top dress accentuated her perfect curves, while her fair skin glowed with a youthful radiance.
Though she was approaching thirty, Mei seemed no older than a woman in her early twenties, her beauty untouched by time. The pure gold ring Kirito had once given her hung discreetly around her neck, a memento that seemed to halt the years from touching her.
Four years had passed since Kirito had stolen her first kiss. In those years, they had crossed paths multiple times.
The first time was three years ago when Kirito had stumbled upon her while she was bathing at home. Enraged, she had mobilized her forces to pursue him for days, only to be outwitted and left even more humiliated.
The most recent encounter was just a month ago, when Kirito's mission brought him back to the Land of Water. A clash between them ensued, but once again, Kirito had the upper hand.
Now, Mei sat in her office, glaring at a scroll left behind by Kirito. Zabuza and Haku stood before her, restrained by Mist Village Anbu.
"He dares..." Mei clenched the scroll tightly, anger flashing in her emerald eyes.
On the surface, Kirito's gesture seemed altruistic—sending Zabuza and Haku back to bolster the Hidden Mist's dwindling talent pool. But Mei knew better. This was Kirito's way of mocking her, of reminding her of her past defeats.
Taking a deep breath to suppress her anger, Mei addressed the Anbu, "Untie them. The rest of you, leave us."
The Mist Anbu exchanged wary glances before complying. Ao, the stern-eyed "White-Eyed Killer," hesitated. "Mizukage-sama, isn't this too dangerous? Zabuza once attempted to assassinate the former Mizukage."
Mei's eyes narrowed. "Do you doubt my judgment?"
"I wouldn't dare," Ao replied hastily, bowing before leading the others out.
Once the room was empty, Zabuza and Haku exhaled in relief. They hadn't expected Kirito's connections to the Fifth Mizukage to be so strong.
Mei studied them both carefully. Her gaze lingered on Haku, whose beauty seemed out of place for a battlefield. "Did Kirito really give you this scroll?" she finally asked.
"Yes, Mizukage-sama," Zabuza confirmed.
"Did he leave any message for me?"
"No, Mizukage-sama," both Zabuza and Haku replied in unison.
"That bastard..." Mei muttered under her breath, her grip on the scroll tightening.
Suddenly, Haku spoke up. "Lord Kirito mentioned he would return the beheading sword to the Mist Village at a later time."
"In the future, huh?" Mei's cheeks flushed slightly as her fingers brushed the golden ring hidden beneath her dress. Her expression softened as she made her decision.
"Zabuza, in the name of the Fifth Mizukage, I pardon your crimes and reinstate you as a ninja of Kirigakure. However, due to your past offenses, you will start anew as a Genin. I trust you have no objections to this?"
"None at all, Mizukage-sama," Zabuza replied, bowing his head. Rank meant little to him—he knew his skills would soon elevate him back to his former status.
"As for you, Haku..." Mei turned her attention to the young girl, her expression contemplative. "You and I both possess bloodline limits. Would you be willing to become my apprentice?"
Haku hesitated, glancing at Zabuza for guidance. Though her loyalty lay with him, she couldn't ignore the opportunity before her.
"Go on, Haku. With your talent, you'll thrive under Mizukage-sama's guidance," Zabuza said, his tone encouraging.
With Zabuza's blessing, Haku bowed deeply. "I accept, Mizukage-sama."
After Zabuza and Haku left the office, Mei leaned back in her chair, a triumphant smile spreading across her lips. She could already imagine Kirito's reaction when he learned that Haku had become her disciple.
