Naruto: Drinking Makes You Stronger

Chapter 14: [13]The Next White Fang?

Kakashi gritted his teeth as he sprinted away, his mind racing. "How many bottles of wine do I need to give him to make up for this?" he thought bitterly. His pride had taken a serious hit today, and the thought of Leo nearly slicing him in half as a spy still made his heart race with embarrassment. He'd never live this down.

...

"Why are you two dragging me away? That bastard! I want to chase after him! Next time we meet, I'll definitely cut him down."

Leo grumbled, clearly frustrated, as Kurenai and Rin pulled him back on either side, trying to keep him from going after Kakashi.

"Leo, don't be upset. I'll bring you two bottles of good wine tomorrow," Kurenai said, attempting to calm him.

"Yeah, Leo, I found where my house keeps the wine, and I'll bring it to you tomorrow," Rin added with a smile.

Leo, though still irritated, couldn't completely hide the corner of his lips lifting slightly.

"Did you see that? Leo defeated Kakashi with a single move."

"That's insane... Kakashi's already a Jonin."

"And the dark purple light that cut through that tree—what was that?!"

"If that hit a person..."

...

The students whispered in disbelief, their voices filled with awe. A massive tree had been split in half from so far away. If Leo had targeted a person instead, they would have been dead in an instant!

Asuma overheard the conversation, his earlier thoughts of challenging Leo quickly evaporating. The idea seemed foolish now. Who would dare challenge him after seeing that power?

...

"This teacher, then we'll return to Hokage-sama," Shisui said, turning to Tanaka.

"Ah... Ah! Thank you so much for your hard work," Tanaka snapped out of his daze and quickly expressed his gratitude.

"You're too kind," Shisui replied, his tone polite but understanding. He could tell that Tanaka was still processing what had just happened.

Shisui knew well how shocking Leo's abilities were. Even he was still coming to terms with the terrifying display of power. The mission had been meant as a simple test, but it had turned into a near-death experience for Kakashi and the others.

After a brief, thoughtful glance at Leo, Shisui said nothing more. Chakra surged beneath his feet as he jumped into the air, heading toward the Hokage Building.

...

At the Hokage Building in Konoha…

Shisui, Kakashi, and the others were reporting the details of the mission to the Third Hokage, Sarutobi Hiruzen.

"This mission was personally assigned by Hokage-sama," Shisui explained.

Kakashi, his head hung low in shame, didn't speak a word. He had eagerly volunteered for the mission, only to end up almost being sliced down by Leo. It was a humiliating experience.

Sarutobi Hiruzen listened carefully to Shisui's report, but inwardly, he cursed, "Leo, you troublemaker."

The Hokage couldn't help but feel irritated. Kakashi had come close to being harmed—no, nearly killed—and it was all because of Leo. His power was far beyond what they had expected.

After a moment of silence, Sarutobi sighed, rubbing his temples in exhaustion. "Alright, I understand. You may leave now."

"Yes, Hokage-sama," the group replied in unison.

...

Once the trio left, Sarutobi stood up and gazed out of the Hokage Building's window, deep in thought.

"To think that someone so young could perform such a flying slash," Sarutobi murmured, still struggling to grasp Leo's strength.

The display reminded him of another, a figure from the past who had once overshadowed all of Konoha—someone who had left an indelible mark on the village.

Sakumo Hatake, the "Konoha White Fang."

Could Leo become the next White Fang? His potential was apparent.

Sarutobi's thoughts drifted to the current state of the world. Though the Second Ninja World War had ended, the scars of the conflict remained. Other villages, particularly Yunyin and Wuyin, had begun to stir. Konoha's strength was no longer as undisputed as before. The loss of the White Fang had left a gap in their high-level combat power.

Sarutobi knew he had to show the world Konoha's strength once more.

He then remembered Shisui's report, and an idea began to form in his mind.

...

Back at Leo's home in Konoha…

"It's so comfortable," Leo sighed as he stepped out of the bathroom, towel still in his hand, drying his damp hair.

The events of the day were still fresh in his mind, and though Kakashi and the others had left, Leo felt that the mission had ended rather anticlimactically.

What he didn't know was that the test had actually been designed with a premise—Leo wasn't allowed to use any weapons, and the students were meant to challenge him. However, after witnessing Leo effortlessly slice the tree in half, Tanaka had immediately canceled the test. There was no point in continuing when the students stood no chance against Leo's power.

"I really drank a lot today," Leo said to himself, thinking back to the day's events. "I almost cut Kakashi down as a spy."

He smiled at the thought, but overall, he was satisfied. The outcome had been good. He had gained the ability to hear the "Breath of All Things" and had acquired the power to cut steel. He was now one step closer to mastering swordsmanship.

"No wonder I received 100 points in Swordsmanship comprehension and steel-cutting power," Leo mused. "I guess it came from cutting the soil."

As he reflected, his thoughts wandered to the "pseudo-boss" Uchiha Obito, who he had drunkenly ignored earlier. Obito, just a background figure at this point, would eventually become one of the most important players in the Fourth Ninja World War. Leo couldn't help but wonder, "Should I cut him a few times for fun?
